Where is this in the book?
-
Dumping is only caused by sugar or high fat foods. Unless your fish was cooked with one of these two things you did not dump. Not all vomiting is dumping. Sometimes things don't agree with your pouch.

I am close to 6 months and had one episode of throwing up...the " foamies". It was about 5-6 weeks out and simply from eating too fast. I have been able to eat all meats without any issue. I am down 88 pounds and back to my active self.

How are my February folks??? I hope everyone is doing well. I have been doing great...no issues at all. I haven't had any problems with eating meats and find eating easy most of the time. Just had a San Francisco vacation where I had to eat out every meal. Half the time hubby just got something we both could have and shared it....made for cheaper time. I did do my first wine while there on a Sonoma tour and I did get very easily buzzed off a few sips. After 5 different wineries I had 5 slight buzzes....but no bad affects. Still staying away from bad carbs, sweets, pastas, potatoes, and starches ...hasn't been too bad. I just hit my lowest weight in 15 years and I am walking and riding my bike. Going for a 25 mile ride next week. I love being active again! Planning to join the gym next month. I am recouping from a total hip replacement and losing the weight has made such a big difference. Total weight loss is 95 pounds and from surgery day...82!

It took three weeks for energy to start to return. I have never been so tired in my life. -
My 6 months before and after and things no one prepared me for ramblings.

I look at my old pictures and so appreciate that very large woman that had the courage to change....she was quite brave. -
Compared to my hip replacement...relatively easy. If you had knee replacement you got this!

I did. Same thing. Very bad cold. I thought for sure they would cancel my surgery. Three days before I called both the nurses in the hospital and the Bariatric practice. They said as long as I was not running a fever or had too much in my lungs they would do it. I passed the needed tests and had the surgery. I will say it mad recovery more difficult. Coughing was VERY painful. They did give me several breathing treatments in the hospital which helped. Good luck!

Fabulous!

I lost 20something the first five months and gained the last two appts that counted.
-
I had Aetna and gained during the six months but ultimately lost 12 pounds. I was approved without issue.

Some great changes ..none of which is easy. I was a big sweets person...weird but I don't crave sweets and bread near as much as chips..which was never a big thing for me. But I just tell myself any craving will pass...and it always does.

Just remember this is about change. You are going have to be willing to change your eating habits to succeed. It is important to push you limits, try new things and sometimes eat something because it's what you need not necessarily what you like. I am lucky in that i don't have any issues with meat but I still eat for survival/ health now much more than pleasure. Carbs are simply not my friend...protein is. You get search online at all kinds of sites for some great options.
-
Didn't you get recommendations from your surgeon. Eggs and some milk are likely not getting you anywhere close to protein you need. Where did you have your surgery?
-
First off it sounds like you are eating the wrong things. You should be concentrating on Protein. I have elected to stay away from carbs with the exception of some fruit and veggies. I also avoid starchy foods. I had surgery in February and have had a couple weeks where I didn't lose but overall I have averaged 3 pounds a week of loss. You should have guidelines from your Bariatric center on amounts of Proteins recommended and menu options. Secondly get over the scale.

Are there any folks in the 55-60 age group out there that can answer my question?
Crosby replied to Marycm125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember it varies significantly and those that are heavier will lose more initially. I am 4 months out and will be 55 in a few days. I was 269 on surgery day and now weigh 205. ( height 5' 5") After the first month I am averaging 12 pounds loss a month. I tend to have one slow week and then one where I lose 5 pounds. I had one gain that was followed by a bigger loss. -
I'm 4 months out and except for one instance of eating too fast I have not had any issues with eating anything. I have eaten all normal meats including steaks without an issue. I also don't have issues with gas despite eating cabbage, broccoli etc. But I have followed my surgeons regimen to a tee.

I often eat the protein leftovers from dinner for breakfast. It's the meal I struggle with the most as well. -
How soon before solid foods

You should have gotten specific instructions from your surgeon. You should follow those instructions as it varies.
