There is nothing wrong with taking the meds and frankly trying to tough it out only exhausts you more. I took them for two days every 6 hours or so and then 2-3 times at bedtime.

Check out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com. She has probably hundreds of recipes. I will be feeding my whole family from them.

Are you eating proteins besides the shakes. The carbs should be secondary to finishing your proteins if at all. And I was instructed to measure everything so I don't overeat.

Churning stomach
Crosby replied to starbuckscoffeegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is funny when "Junior" starts crying in there. I have had minor bloating but it disapates quickly. -
I am only 11 days but the exhaustion is crazy. I keep reading...better at 3 weeks, more normal at 3 months. I hope do.

I really don't think you have thought this through. Being deceptive about this and having surgery without command consent could easily get you discharged. I just cannot imagine how you are going to hide it. The military is not a normal job...PT requirements, physicals, and the overall demand on an individual will be difficult to comply with early on. You will have scars to explain. You will be very very very tired for months. Are you paying for it yourself? I fully understand wanting the surgery so bad but I think you need to make sure you are in a position to handle a discharge.

This is how mine was. The insurance company should be able to tell you what the specific problem was.

This was the same for me. The insurance company should advise you to the specific reasons for denial

Unjury shake questions
Crosby replied to tcouperus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't notice anything funny about it. And the whole family ate it without thinking anything was different. -
I had surgery with a cold. I let the nurses at the hospital and surgeons office know 3 and 4 days before and they said as long as no fever I should be fine. On surgery day They made sure my lungs were okay and no fever. The cough made the first two days much more difficult but I survived.

How long from first consult to surg date?
Crosby replied to doyouhear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unless instructed otherwise you can do them all in the first week, spread out or the last week. Once I had my orientation at the surgeons they had all my referrals for me. Not everyone needs everything. My initial consult was in June last year and my sugery was last month. -
Great job and simple onderful!

Dizzy spells could be reactive hypoglycemia ...if you eat heavy on the carbs. As the previous poster mentioned start exploring new foods. This is the time to be devoting a whole new way of eating. You may be grieving and comparing foods to old processed, high fat, and or sugar choices and bottom line newer and healthier foods aren't initially glamorous at first. Use spices etc...and over time you will see a difference. Even though I am newly postoperative I lost 130 pounds and kept it off until a injury. I learned to savor foods I never thought I would like. Also check out this blog..she has wonderful ideas..... The World According To Eggface.

Good to hear all the reports. My surgery was 2/27. The weight coming off is of course nice and I have lost 15 pounds since sugery. But I am so focused on getting all the steps right it had been secondary. I am excited at the prospect of life being so different...makes me giddy at times. I sooo wanted to move one day sooner to purée stage but stuck it out. Yesterday I made up a weeks worth of pureed chicken and crab. Added different things to the chicken for an added flair. The crab was very good. I had 1/4 cup of the crab at lunch and could not eat but half of dinner. So far no foods have been an issue. Knock on wood. I think I had read so much about tiny sips and bites I was anxious it but I am almost taking normal swallows of liquid. Still have pain from incisions that are aggravated by my pants waist..but otherwise the pain is fine. The worst part for me is energy level. The first few hours if the morning feel like I am going to pass out. This subsides some through the day but I still lack enough energy to do much.

Everyone that has said anything has been very positive. I decided about a week before surgery to tell everyone that was remotely close to me.

Updates February folks???. I would love to hear how all are progressing.

New here with some questions please... I'm really angry.
Crosby replied to flashkiki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is an impatience issue. Yea the weight does fall off for periods but it stalls too. You also had a lower starting weight too so17 pounds in a month is darn good. -
You look great!

You should have gotten specific timelines for everything from your surgeons office / NUT. Look through your materials or call them. I have seen where this differs so best to get your specific directions.

Aetna and weight gain during 3 month multi-disciplinary program
Crosby replied to TN_Gal's topic in Insurance & Financing
I just had surgery last week. I have Aetna and " net" means over the whole course of evaluation. I had a 6 and 2 pound gain but overall loss. My approval was in less than 24 hours. -
Welcome aboard. I just had RNY last week and going smooth so far.
