First dumping syndrome UGH!
Crosby replied to innwtitdtity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't go above 8 and like to stick closer to 6. Plus if you want to stay on the healthier side stay away from processed crap and use steel cut or something similar and add your own flavoring so to it. For now I also add unflavored protein powder. -
Stalled? or is my body just freaking out?
Crosby replied to Dan DeBrucker-Cota's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body needs to rest. Expecting to lose constantly is unrealistic. -
First Day on Stage 3 Puree
Crosby replied to Prada-Savassi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Greek Yogurt and actually have been making my own for years. You can add some fruit to it if allowed at this time. It is not the sugar laden yogurt most are used to so people are often thrown by it at first. I just can't see peanut butter being a good option for a meal. There are much better options. But to each their own. -

So how is it going February peeps? I just had my 6 week checkup and labs were good. Energy level has gotten better but I still get tired very easy. It's almost time to get planting outside and I am worried whether I will be able to do it. I have lost 32 pounds from surgery day but it's the loss of inches that have been incredible! I had a jacket that was over 12 inches from being able to zip and last week I zipped it up with no issues! I just started on regular food today but eat so little it's not that big of a deal. I haven't had much issue with eating or drinking but ground turkey seems to be a laxative for me . One incident of eating too fast and had the " foamies" and threw up. I have been extra careful since. Still have to rely on one shake a day to get my protein in though.

Biotin will not stop hair from falling out. It will make new growth more healthy. I have been taking it for three years since losing a lot of hair due to thyroid shutting down and menopause. I am prepared to lose it again. It will grow back.

I just uploaded 8.3 today and happy to report it ended the problems.

Never heard of anyone having a feeding tube. I had drainage tube on my right side that was in for the entire stay. Catheter for day of surgery.

Hunger that is psychological and not physical. Formed from habit typically.

Call your insurance company directly to get the best info on requirements. I got a copy of mine online. You will get hundreds of different responses on out of pocket costs as insurance varies, deductibles, vary, surgeon costs vary, hospital stays vary, and hospital costs vary.

My Life, My Journey, My Transformation.... And a few tips and pics

Love it! -
Your in ketosis so your brain has sent your nose into overdrive to find food...thus things smell and taste different. And your breath will stink. Sugar free breath mints have helped..especially for waiting the hour after I eat to drink. I drink soy and after drinking it 4 weeks it still is not appealing but I just make myself drink it. I am required 16 oz a day and that's all Ido. I can't handle much dairy at all right now. The exhaustion was horrible until through week three. It has been much better the last week but still hits me at times.

Not taking vitamins is life threatening and frankly inexcusable. If you can't swallow them or are vomiting then talk to your doc. If they simply taste bad...suck it up and take them anyway. You will pay in so many ways if you don't. Look up recipes for gastric bypass...there are tons out there. I have gotten over a hundred just on pin-interest. Try new things, experiment. You are in danger of setting yourself up to return to old habits. Take charge!

It took three weeks before I felt alive. I barely had energy to make a cup of tea. I was getting all my fluids and protein in. So I rested as much as possible..really didn't have a choice. After the three weeks it got better. Now at 5 weeks I am probably 70% " normal." Energy level.

Read, read, research and then read and research again. Yes listen to your doctor and NUT but also self advocate. ( I see some crazy things come from both NUTS and surgeons on aftercare) Go to good sources like https://asmbs.org. Remember this is not a casual surgery...it will impact you the rest of your life. It involves much more that just adjusting the volume of the food you eat. To be successful long term you have to change what you eat and what drives you to use food as a coping mechanism. If you don't you CAN gain all your weight back. And after you have done that...read more!

I had gastric bypass two months after hip replacement. I am right at a month post op and down 25 pounds from day of surgery. My hip is still healing but most days there is little pain. The RNY post op frankly has been breeze in comparison to the hip. I'm likely gonna have the left hip done in the next year....I know it will be a lot better recovery with out the extra weight.

You are getting dehydrated. If you don't drink you will end up in the hospital. Try different temperatures. I liked warm versus cold but it varies....but you MUST drink.

17 days out when am I going to feel normal?
Crosby replied to foodfighter78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if I would push ( or puss ). You just have to gauge it yourself. There was no way I vould walk far...so I would do our driveway. Housework was minimal. -
Anyone receive a call from insurance nurse
Crosby replied to mamasbabies's topic in Insurance & Financing
Aetna right? I have..it is a service they offer. I have had three surgeries this year and the same person has followed me through them. I do believe it is voluntary. -

Crosby replied to foodfighter78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so exhausted it was nearly overwhelming. I knew to expect it but living through it is difficult. About 24-25 days i actually started feeling a bit alive again. Three week mark seems common for many. Now a week later I can actually get things done and even raked a bit of leaves today. So you are probably only 7-10 days away from feeling noticeably better. -
Bad grammar doesn't bother me too much. I am certainly guilty of not paying attention to grammar at times. But I stop reading posts few words in where people are to lazy to actually write words versus text. And the laziness continues for those that fail to research and want answers spoon fed to them. I read everything I could find on RNY well before surgery and I am blown away by folks who had this surgery with little research. And yes if you post on not knowing why you are stuck at three weeks you have not gone proper research. There is so much great information available it is inexcusable to not be prepared.
