trying to figure things out
Crosby replied to RNY_NY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I originally wanted the sleeve but my surgeon won't do it on anyone with GERD. I am 3.5 post op RNY and doing great. -
Hunger, Cravings, etc. Post-Op
Crosby replied to sarahbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The head cravings have been with me from the first week. The surgery only takes away physical hunger for awhile. The rest is head work. -
Normal. The first three weeks were the most exhausting of my life. Just make sure you are getting fluids in. I literally had to rest after walking 15 feet.

Honey ? 7 weeks post op
Crosby replied to KerryRNY04162015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't that soon. Really no different risk wise for dumping than sugar. -
When did you start to feel like yourself again?
Crosby replied to RuxieGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 13 weeks out and stopped being overly tired around 8 weeks. But the overwhelming feeling of exhaustion let up about 4 weeks. Just the other day I realized I was able to go hard all day without being real tired. -
My kitty would go naked but she is afraid of the saggy skin.

How hard is it to get insurance to aprove the surgery
Crosby replied to Monica Castro's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on the insurance. I had 6 months of pre op requirements but once that was done insurance approved in less than a day. -
I had a bad cold the week before surgery. I kept in touch with the nurse at the Bariatric practice and the hospital. I was told as long as I didn't have a temperature I would be fine. The surgery did take place but the coughing made it very difficult in recovery process.

30 or 60 minutes after a meal?
Crosby replied to goodnuff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also told 60 minutes after. I stick to that most of the time but have done 45 minutes a few times. -
How do you guys feel about chicken tenders?
Crosby replied to Dreamagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think there are typically much much better options. I go for any type of seafood ..broiled, steamed, grilled first, Then chicken or turkey or pork..if cooked right. -
I totally underestimated the amount of pain I would be in due to arthritis after stoping NSAIDS. I did some research and found that Cymbalta, which is an anti depressant, has had some success with OA and fibromyalgia. My PCP agreed to prescribe it and within two days the results were remarkable. I have been on the lowest dose for one month and quite pleased. It is an extended release which typically is not helpful for RNY patients but many are reporting success.

Hi everyone. I am progressing well. I am 10 weeks out and down 45 pounds since surgery and 57 overall. Knock on wood but so far it has been smooth sailing. I have been on regular foods for awhile. Although allowed I am staying away from grains, potatoes, high sugar fruits, and pastas. I have not had any issues with any meats. I have moments of cravings but they pass. I still find at least a small shake necessary to meet my protein amount. Drinking lots of water and the occasional cup of decaf coffee. Exercise has been slow as I am a new hip replacement patient too. But hubby and me have started riding bikes again and doing a lot of gardening. My energy level really just started feeling somewhat normal last week. I was going and going like an energizer bunny...felt sooo good!

Am I the only one with a one-day pre-op diet?
Crosby replied to TN_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had one day...and I was glad as well. With my surgeon it was based on BMI. I did do a self imposed two week pre surgery detox from sugar and caffeine. -
From what I understand it not uncommon to have to have the procedure several times before it is successful.

Do you divulge the amount of weight you've lost?
Crosby replied to cindyt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep..proudly! -
7weeks out, feeling down, weight stopped
Crosby replied to patrickm613's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am confused since you had the sleeve before you should have some understanding of what nutrional needs there are for a healthy lifestyle?? There is plenty of things to eat that are full of flavor. You have to be willing to expand yourself and let go of old eating habits. Check out Eggface.com or look on Pinterest for gastric bypass recipes. Protein first, veggies 2nd and sugar off the plate. -
I have a question about Gastric Bypass Surgery
Crosby replied to Karlnjax's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had both and neither were an issue. My surgeon however did stop using catheters a few weeks after my surgery. -
Wishing you the very best.

Help. I gained a pound
Crosby replied to fuzzyfeline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your weight will fluctuate day to day. If your not reaching your protein goals then you shouldn't be eating mash potatoes. And frankly I think mash potatoes are a bad choice anyway. Stick to side dishes that will give you protein...not useless carbs and calories. I often eat cottage cheese as my side. Now that I can eat two ounces of dense protein I will eat good veggies such as green beans, asparagus, etc. -
What a great way to celebrate. And you look fantastic!
-
I puréed crab meat and chicken. I also ate pumpkin and squash soup and added unflavored protein powder.
-
That is fantastic! Does my heart good!

Am I obsessing to much?
Crosby replied to lisaanewme67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it's much better than the opposite. I think way too many people jump into this without doing any research or even reading materials given to them by their surgeons office. -
Less than 24 hours but nurse said that was unusual...and a couple of days was more the norm.
