I have no idea. The surgeon told us she took it out. After discovering I still had one I obtained the surgical notes. They too stated it had been removed.
  4. That's great. I have a hiatal as well as pre Barrett's. I think the sleeve is a great option but just not for me. Good luck to you.
  5. I am working on wrapping my mind on this no sugar thing. Intellectually I get it and can cite all the reasons to " just do it". But emotionally...pow! Hits me like a bag of quarter rolls. I gave up refined sugar and processed foods for 4 years ..but there was raw honey. Bees were my friends. And the option was still there. I guess it still will be but I don't wanna get dumped! No doubt I am a sugar addict. I can eat Healthy meals very easily but then binge on 6 donuts. I know me well enough that I know will get this but for today...it is making me dizzy. But hey I quit smoking after 21 years and haven't looked back so anything is possibly.

    Sorry......Honey.

That is really comforting to know. That's how soda worked for me. After drinking none for over a year I got an urge for one when my son had one. One taste and it tasted really salty to me. It made it easy not to drink.
  7. Goodness gracious great balls of fire..you look fantastic! And you look like a teenager now.

    Sorry......Honey.

Oh heck no...I just had my first appt. this week. I am probably looking at December.

    Sorry......Honey.

Thanks Terry..much appreciated! I believe knowing I need the protein number one will be a big big help. My regular meals have been quite healthy for sometime although portion control is an issue of course. It's the carb/ sugar ( grazing us an understatement) that does me in.

    Sorry......Honey.

Thanks Revision ( is that a family name? ). What you describe is how I ate when I lost 135 pounds. I probably went 6 months without any sweets. I then found it easy to just have a bite or two and was very discriminate about what I chose. And I will keep you posted. I need this forum!

    Here goes nothing!

Cool beans. In my mind I just did a back flip for you!

    "You're so tiny"

    How cool is that!
  13. Did you breath yet? Kind of like a roller coaster ride...and I am just now getting line.
  14. Take care...may your gas pass!
  15. I thought it would be case by case but if sounds like the surgeon is pretty strict about it...plus I am pre-Barrett's. But I am feeling good about it all. I just am believing the bypass is the route I am suppose to take.
  16. For me it was a slight disappointment as I had invested in learning so much on the sleeve..but now I get to learn more. I don't see it as all that different...and probably what I needed anyway. You probably just need some time to ingest ( no pun intended) it all.
  17. . Good luck to you..you are close to your date!
  18. It is good to know that there are those who can relate. I am aware I can't take them..which is where the concern comes from. I seen the topical ones..would probably need to bathe in them Narcotics are not my friend at all....I would rather deal with the pain.
  19. We'll I had my orientation today. Looks like I might be switching to team Bypass. I was told my surgeon will not do the sleeve on anyone with GERD history. I knew this was a concern but I thought it might be more case to case. I am concerned about not being able to take anti inflammatories with the bypass. I see the surgeon in 10 days so I will know more then.

    VSG: Out of pocket expense

From what I have seen it varies significantly. Some insurances cover nearly everything while others barely half.

June 11th - Today is VSG Day!

    Hope it all went well.

I was wondering how it compared to gallbladder surgery..which I had twice. Yes twice..they missed it the first time. I went 5 years thinking my gallbladder was out. First surgery recover was very rough..second ( when they actually removed it) was easy. Hope you feel better quickly.
