It isn't easy! I have not been able to stick to my preop diet as planned either. I think we will be ok if we don't binge when we step off our plan. Thank God I don't have someone bringing Krispy Kremes though. Good luck and don't stop trying!

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
Gr8fulMiniMe replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think she's a HATER disguised as a friend!!! You are doing what's best for u! My very best friend from back in HS & in my 20's once told me "If you were thin, I wouldn't be your friend." That hit me as awkward but it took a long time to realize that when we make personal changes in ourselves it often affects other peoples comfort zone making them insecure and uneasy. That being said, This is truly their problem, NOT OURS!!! Good luck to you! -
Band off for 2 years, sleeve next month. Advice?
Gr8fulMiniMe replied to Redd003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am sorry about your personal weight struggles. I too have turned to less than reputable methods of weight loss and can relate to so much of your story. I was banded in 2009 and had it removed April 2013. I see it being easy to become bulimic with the lapband. When your food is suffocating you and you HAVE to go throw it up to breathe initially. There were times I really thought of just being bulimic but I had friends I confided in and they supported me through it. Other times I'd be out to eat with people an I'd get stuck and have to abruptly run to the bathroom and rumor had it I was bulimic. I am grateful to have that out now. I am scheduled for the sleeve on 6/5/14 and am very excited. How much weight did u gain after removing your band? I gained 35 lbs or so which my Dr. said is good considering most gain a lot more back... -
Looking forward to time off after surgery
Gr8fulMiniMe replied to thesuse2000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on June 5th and I am looking forward to the time off work too! I don't feel guilty at all! I get to focus on my new start and all it's changes. I am really so excited! I watched a full gastric sleeve surgery on YouTube last night. I also love coming on here to learning and relating to others on the same journey as I am. This is a life changing time for us all and I don't think we should feel guilty for taking time out for ourselves and our health! -

I am scheduled for my sleeve on June 5th! I am really excited!!! I think it's a great this to have something like this. To lean on and connect stories and experiences with other people going through the same thing. -
@ Jazma: I had my lapband removed last April. I was scheduled to have the bypass at the same time but changed my mind the morning of the surgery and just had the band removed. I gained about 35 lbs since it was removed, which Dr. says is quite good for typical weight gain after is much more. At any rate I feel really good about the sleeve and can't wait Till June 5th when I get mine. Good Luck to you! Also, Do any of u take Probiotics? Last year before my surgery I went to costco and bought " Advance Probiotic 10" By Nature's Bounty. They are capsules and give u 10 probiotic Organisms and 20 Billion Live Probiotic Cultures. Of course being concerned about surgery, it was important to me to give myself a boost in my recovery process, so I started up on these two weeks before. Right after surgery I broke the capsules apart and them in my Water. On my follow up visit after my surgery my Dr said I had so much scar tissue and removing my band was a challenge. He was surprised I had no complications but I believe it's my secret gem, these probiotics that made the difference. Needless to say I just bought some more to prepare for this surgery as well...
