I'm feeling much better. I really felt so much better when I stopped getting the iv antibiotics. I'm still on tpn and see the doc tomorrow. I'm hoping that will be the last of the nightly feeding and they'll pull the picc line so I can go back to work on Wednesday. I was only supposed to be out 2 weeks and I'm now on 4 weeks out. My biggest disappointment right now is that the tpn has caused me to gain 4 pounds since they started giving it to me. I started back at the beginning of the post options diet a week ago. It's hard to get still the protein and fluids in, especially, when I'm really getting everything I need at night. I can't wait for a regular routine to start, but I'm seeing light way in the distance.

I too have had setback. I'm still in the hospital after having to come back in last Friday. I had all the symptoms of a leak but fortunately there wasn't one detected. My doctor believes believes I probably head a small one that healed.I've been on lots of antibiotics away NPO since last Friday. Hopefully I go home tomorrow but I'm going home with a pic line so I can continue the intravenous food only for another 10 days. Then I start all over again with the clear liquids only. It's all so discouraging. I'm in deep buyers remorse.

Thank you chavabling. I'm only a week out so I have no right to be thinking the same thoughts but I do. Everyone's support is also helping me tonight stay focused. I really need to be reminded that the news normal will be great. -

So I over estimated how good I was feeling. I walked longer than ever this morning but when I ran out to the bank and then did some grocery shopping this afternoon I came home feeling exhausted. I am also alternating between sleeping in the comfy chair with the ottoman and trying to sleep in my bed. It seems like it really hurts to sleep flat but I'm getting soooo tired of the chair. I have 3 more weeks of liquid only. I never thought I'd envy someone when they said they got to eat pureed food next week but I do.I'm still struggling with removing the buyers remorse from my thoughts. It's done now so I need to view this positively but it's still hard.

I just got back from walking the neighborhood. It's a small neighborhood so I was only gone about 15 minutes but it was great to get outside.

It's day 6 and the gas seems worse today than yesterday. I get up and walk but it seems worse.my belly is so sore and distended. When the gas started passing the day before yesterday I started feeling really better. That was my last day on clear fluids. I'm wondering if it's the addition of the protein shakes. Has anyone else felt like gas increased when they started phase 2?

Hi everyone. It's truly a relief to hear that everything I'm going through its normal. No matter what I knew in advance its still hard. I also had a hernia repaired and its killing me getting up and down. It feels similar to when I had my gallbladder out. Every sip comes with so much gurgling.

Is it too late to join? My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:20 here in Orlando. I've been on clear fluids only today so I feel lucky. I had to join in when I saw everybody crying I've been about ready to burst into tears since preregistration on Friday. I know I want to do this but now every terrifying thought is raising it's ugly head. My 9 year old asked me this morning when I could eat lunch out again and when I told him it would be several months before I could eat regular food he was horrified. He just kept saying you're going to starve Mom. I know he doesn't really get it but it kind of hit me not because I'm really worried about being hungry or "starving" but just because of the big change to all of our lives. Good luck everyone.
