Work at Home While Recovering After Surgery
Lorainsatx replied to Denise73's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doctor told me I could go back to work at my office job after 1 week (gastric sleeve). If you can afford to take the time off and you have sick time available I would take 2 weeks off. If you can't do that I think your work at home option is a good one. Most people seem to be off pain meds after 3rd or 4th post op day. -
Success in those with lifelong struggle?
Lorainsatx replied to thesuse2000's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also told " you are not that big". I would be a lot bigger if I didn't try to make healthy choices every day. I would not be carrying this weight if I could have dieted it off. Believe me I tried. I , like you have spent a fortune on Nutrisystem, HCG, Jenny Graig and anything else I could find. I can't believe that I might have finally found a solution! -

Let me guess.... Scared of getting attention from men, scared of not getting attention........ Judging by your pic, you are beautiful, and if the weight loss gives you back your confidence.... You will be a knockout! I am lucky enough to have found the love of my life and he could care less what I weigh. Hang in there ... You are doing all the right things and the payoff will be worth the effort.

I wonder the same thing. I was not overweight until age 50. Before that weighed 125-135 lbs. now at 212 lbs I am miserable. Concerned about my chances of success but am heading to Surgery June 12 th. I am so excited to think that I might actually lose this weight. -
I just got my date of June 12th @ 0700 confirmed. . I am so ready to get this done. Patience is not a virtue I was born with! I would like to keep in touch if you are so inclined since we are having surgery 3 days apart.
-
I need to do that as well. Somehow I'm afraid to do it.... I wonder why. I am scheduled for June 12 th .... Already have insurance approval etc.. You will be about 10 days ahead. It will be great to have friends out there to share this experience with. My husband's eyes glaze over when I try to talk to hum about it. He is very supportive but I'm not sure he totally gets it!

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Lorainsatx replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It sounds like you are still young and so I applaud your decision to take control while you are still young enough to reclaim your health. This site has w wealth of information. Spend some time learning from it. You will find support and new friends and you will see that you are not alone nor is your situation unique. My sleeve surgery is June 18 th and I am beyond excited. I have only been obese for about the past 10-15 years but can't wait to take back my health. -
Ginger: I too have joint pain, borderline hypertension,.... I will have a sleep study this week. A little sleep apnea would qualify me for insurance coverage. If it is not approved I will pay for the surgery. Uugghh.... Hope it doesn't come to that! I am committed to having this done as I have tried for the past 15 years to get this weight under control without success. Have you had your surgery yet?

TWO weeks out .... Chime in my May buds!
Lorainsatx replied to Comeflywithme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only been on this site a couple of days and am about 1 month away from VGS surgery. Posts like yours help me immensely because they have very real information with no whining LOL, Many of the things you mention, staying hydrated, vitamins exercise are all concerns of mine. I love hearing that you are sleeping 8 hours. How was your post op pain? -
I am also on the 18th of June and I am excited beyond words. I am also extremely impatient by nature so the waiting is killing me. I am also in San Antonio.

Lorainsatx commented on butterfyeffect's blog entry in My Journey to Skinny
Butterfly effect. Thanks for all the detailed info on Post op day 1 and 2. I am also an. RN and am lucky enough to have the Bariatric co ordinator as an office mate. I will have my VSG June 18 the and I am beyond excited. Weight management is the only thing in my life that I have consistently failed at....... I am ready to try a new approach. I have completed all of the required testing and am hoping for insurance approval. My BMI is only 36 so I may not get approved but will have the surgery either way and will pay for it myself if necessary. Hope you are continuing to do well! -
I am in exactly the same place. My surgeon gave me a tentative date.... I still have a sleep study to complete this coming week and I will be completely finished. Planning to submit to ins week of May 26 th. MD office tells me approval takes about a week. If it is not approved , I will go ahead and pay for it myself.
-
I am planning on a June 18th sleeve surgery. I am beyond excited and impatient by nature so just want to get it done! I am hoping for insurance coverage but that may not happen so I might be paying for it myself.

What are some NSV's you're looking foward to?
Lorainsatx replied to Kquinn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I get the Victoria Secret thing. It is also something I look forward to. I want to go for a walk and not be tired after a quarter of a mile. I also want to ride my bike again. But most of all.... I want to get up in the morning and not have how I feel each day dictated by what I weigh! -
Tentatively scheduled for June 18th. My surgeon is still trying to find a co morbidity so that insurance will cover. I will pay for it myself if insurance doesn't pay. I have 3 Grandchildren ages 18, 13 and 9. I have 2 grown sons and a wonderfully supportive husband. I work as an RN helping women who have just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Hope to retire end of this year

I am also a Grammy. Seems like everyone else is in their 20's
