I agree and don't be afraid to take some painkillers at night to help you get a decent sleep. Take it easy.

Hey well done Red. You sound like you are doing well and glad to hear things feel about right for you. I have to say the same for me, and I had my surgery the following day to you, but I feel like I am tracking well. Have some discomfort and pain over left side where port is today but think I got a bit too adventurous yesterday going shopping for food then outside watering the garden (we have to hand Water in South Australia because of severe drought). The gas pain is still there and last night I had a heat pack on my shoulder and took painkillers which basically knocked me out. Good to hear all is well with :welldoneclap:

Hi I am banded and home at last - two days in hospital. Went well. Dr pleased with my liver from the Optifast pre op diet. Feel okay but a little sore and fuzzy headed. Have Clear liquids diet to end of today, then liquids for a month, vitamised foods for two weeks, soft/mushy food for two weeks then real food finally. Hope all of you who were also banded on the 10th and 11th are doing well.

Greeneyes, They sent me home with Capodex for pain, and boy does it get you sleepy!! Works too for the pain. Found the de-gas tablets have not really helped with the shoulder pain, but have not really found that or the gas pain excrutiating. It''s just there if you know what I mean and not all the time so I can live with it until its gone. Even the pain in the side when I try to get in or out of bed or a chair is much improved too. Today first day on normal liquids as opposed to clear liquids, so have had my first coffee in weeks. Yum!! How are you feeling about your up coming surgery? I have to admit I was amazed at how quickly I could get up and walk about. I was quite happy to take any pain relief they offered and they gave me Endone every four hours, which has morphine in it, with Panadol in hospital, and then the Capodex for home.

Glad to hear you are going okay Lauren. My experience too has been fine so far, though sleep will just not come for me now - hence on computer at 4.15 am in South Australia. I have a little discomfort in the abdomen area but not enough to take the painkillers that make me feel like I am only half in attendance!! Hope keep going well.

Glad to hear you are both doing okay now. I am too although it is the middle of the night here in Australia and I cannot sleep!! Went to bed without painkillers last night just to see how I go and I feel alright. The ones I was sent home with made me feel out of it all yesterday afternoon, so I thought I'd try without them last night.

Thank you Saleel Greeneyez and Stephanie. Not long for any of you now. Had a huge long sleep this afternoon and now don't know what to be doing!! Not hungry and no interest in anything to do with food. All the very best for your surgery dates.

Lauren, I normally just write a short paragraph inviting the prospective employer to find out more about me through an interview. Gilliebean, hi! I found that I felt hungrier as the days go by - I am now on Day 11. I had to make some adjustments to how & when I consume food & drink etc and discovered that by spreading out the Optifast, the salads/green vegies that we are allowed, the jelly and the small amount of fruit we can have, in addition to drinking mucho Water and several cups of jasmine flavored green tea that I can not feel so badly hungry but I have now found myself obsessing about food - even dreamed yesterday that I ate so much chocolate and cashew nuts that the doctor refused to operate!! I also make sure that I drink a large amount of water just before and after I have eaten anything. I am not usually a soft drink or cordial person, but just to give myself some variety I went and got some diet coke and diet flavoured cordial drinks too. Oh and in the evening, I make my salad or vegie concoction - copious amounts as my dietitian said eat enough to fill you, then have some of the jelly or my fruit and I only make up the last Optifast milk shake to sip at in bed while I read a chapter of my book, and that way I am not waking up really hungry in the night. This seems to have worked for me so I hope it is of some help to you.:nervous
