  1. Wonderful news! I went thru Kaiser for my surgery and did the options classes too. I had surgery last Dec. I was miserable for two weeks after surgery then it turned around and now I'm feeling great and losing wt just fine. I highly recommend the after surgery support classes that Kaiser offers. Where will your surgery be done?
  2. I had awful gerd and got the sleeve last Dec. it wasn't an issue for my Dr. He gave me liquid antacid for a month after and I take a Prilosec every day.

    What irritates your sleeve?

I'm almost three mod out and can't eat any bread..... It hurts, even toasted.
  4. I had very little pain. Didn't even need the pain med.
  5. If you want this surgery to be successful you can change your bad habits. Not saying it's easy but it is doable. I had a very hard time in the beginning getting in enough fluids and protein but I worked at it every hour until it became second nature to have a drink near by. I felt so lifeless and had no energy at first. I'm nine weeks out and feel so much better. You can do this. Make it your desire to change the habits one at a time. Drink up! ????????????????????????????????
  6. I'm 9 weeks out and struggle with eating slow..... I have to think think think about it. I get the hiccups when Ibest to fast and it hurts!
  7. It started when I got to the regular diet..... I've tried going back to liquids but not a lot of success . I'll let ya know what's going on.
  8. I had the sleeve on Dec 3rd. I'm still having a lot of trouble keeping food in. I'm eating 300-400 calories a day... I see my surgeon tomorrow so hopefully he'll have some guidance. I'm tired of throwing up.
  9. I like the Matrix brand the best. It fills me up quicker and for a longer period of time.... I drink the Matrix and the Nectar fruit drinks. Unjury'so pretty good too. They make a good chicken soup.
  10. The things we look forward to! Never thought a half piece of toast would excite me ????
  11. Lol I'm in purée stage too.... Move to soft foods on Thursday...... I can have a half piece of toast!!!!!

    Protein

My Dr and Nut said whey isolate only too.... It's a pure protein not a blend.

    anyone getting sleeved in DECEMBER?

That's great . Spoons were tough for me to use at first, got to much air in. I'm at the puréed stage now. It's going pretty well. More options anyway.

    Post op sucks!

Strawberry, it will improve. I had awful nausea they switched my medication to a patch and it made me dingy but it helped a lot more than Zofran. Hang in there!

    Protein

Try putting the fuzzy navel is the blender on low for about 15 seconds. That made the graininess go away, and now it's nice and smooth.

    Will I always be cold?

Two weeks out and freezing. I live in So. Cal whee it's not that cold. I walk around inside and out with layers on. Going to the store is torture, the cold from the frozen food aisle chases me!

    Complications?

I took a magazine with me. The only complication I ran into was dehydration three days later and had to go to the ER for fluids. Very very typical...... Sip sip sip as much as you can.

    Post op diet struggles

Go back, your stomach needs time to heal. The staple line is still very fragile.

    Post op sucks!

Mandy, I was where you are a week ago. Please believe me it will get better. Have someone else puree your food until you can stand doing it. Research recipes on the Internet and you might be surprised to find something that's appealing. There is a web site that I've found very helpful is The World According To Egg Face. She's a Bari patient also and has tons of great advice and cooking ideas. You really need to be eating/ taking in your fluids and protein the best you can. I know it's tough, I'm 12 days out and regretted the surgery too until about day 8. Now it's much better and I'm glad I did. Please please hang in there and know this tough part will pass. I try to distract myself by reading, walking. I know I'm actually hungry when my tummy starts to rumble. Head hunger is real and so are the cravings. Those also got a lot better within a few days. Take care, cry if you need too, and remember this part is just for a few weeks. Your good health is for the rest of your life!

    anyone getting sleeved in DECEMBER?

I researched the heck out of the sleeve surgery... Risks ect..... Talked to my surgeon at length about the risks. He convinced me they are very small. He said the biggest risk was developing a DVT ( blood clot) after. He said they would give me blood thinners before surgery. The benefits FAR out weigh the risks. Believe that you're going to be just fine and you will be.
