For those having a bypass revision weighing in at 155?
Stephanie Rodriguez68 replied to marfar7's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I also had a band once upon a time and wanted to revise to the sleeve, but because of my reflux, my surgeon wouldn't do anything but the bypass. He told me the sleeve would make my reflux worse and so I am glad I went with the bypass, but I am 4 years out and have yet, to reach my goal weight. Now, granted, I don't do everything 100% all the time. But I feel healthier than I did before in most respects. The malabsorption is probably what has changed my body the most because I have a hard time taking all the supplements and feel I don't have the muscle and bone mass that I once had. I would like to lose about 20 more pounds, but if not, I am OK with where I am. This may just be my HEALTHY weight since I have been stuck here for awhile now. I hope you reach your goals with the revision and also have fun on your cruise. I love cruising and never have trouble finding good foods to eat. -
Nerve pain after gastric bypass
Stephanie Rodriguez68 replied to josnjos's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hope you find some answers too. I get this pain on and off. Sometimes it is worse than others and sometimes, it is more like a deep burning, pulling pain. It's the strangest feeling. I first started noticing it a few months back after getting out of the shower. I went to dry my lower legs and noticed this intense burning under my shin area, above my right ankle. I thought maybe I had a cut or rash, but nothing. It was only in that area for awhile and I would only notice it if I went to rub the area. Then I started noticing it when I would extend my ankle. After going to see my Dr. it stopped, then switched to the opposite foot. Please let me know if you find out anything. Thank you. -
Nerve pain after gastric bypass
Stephanie Rodriguez68 replied to josnjos's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi there, Ran across your post. I had a revision surgery in November of 2014 and a few months ago I started having this weird pain in my right ankle to big toe area. I got checked for gout, which it wasn't, but now the pain is in my left side. It's hard to describe the pain. It's kind of numbing, kind of burning and pulling. My pcp said sometimes it can be caused by low B levels, but he didn't check them. I am hoping to see my bariatric surgeon soon. I hope you find some answers. I also had left groin and pain in both upper thighs, but nothing came up. -

November 5th, my new surgery date.

Hey Stephanie! I have the same surgeon as you and I'm supposed to be having surgery next week. I saw your post about your original date being cancelled last minute due to iron and I'm so scared this is going to happen to me too. Is there a way to contact someone on here? I would love to know how everything went for you and also what your iron level was when you got cancelled

Band to possible RNY revision questions
Stephanie Rodriguez68 replied to neyney75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I will be having an RNY revision from Lap Band. I initially wanted the sleeve, but due to my severe reflux and damage it has caused, my surgeon said RNY would be the best option for me. My surgery has been rescheduled for November 5th. I hope it all works out for you -
Surgery cancelled: Devestated.

I have been on several PPI's and I still have the reflux and burning in my throat. My voice is always hoarse too. I am glad your sleeve is working well for you. I wanted that too initially, but the surgeon said, he didn't believe it would be good for me with all the changes to my esophagus and stomach. I can't wait to get this done. Counting down the days. -

My problem is, I am getting a revision from Lap band to RNY. My band needs to be removed to fix the hernia under it and the Surgeon suggested RNY because of my GERD. I live in Central Texas and I coulnt find anyone to take me. The surgeons where I work didn't want to mess with a past surgery not done by them, nor did any of the others in my general area. I didn't go back to my original surgeon because he kept giving me the run around and I think my insurance didnt cover him. They are strict about using surgeons with the Bariatric center of Excellence certification. Thanks DaronB. Im am going to the clinic tomorrow to pick up the Iron supplements they want me on. I have to take them 3 times daily. I asked about my labs done at the hospital, but no one told me. After my procedure, I was kind of out of it, so I forgot about it. I have had low iron since I was a teenager. I have taken different supplements but nothing makes then NORMAL. I agree that there was a big screw up all the way around. Even the nurse thought so too and apologized several times. Im thankful they discovered all this before doing surgery, its just upsetting to have waited this long just to be told No. Im hopeful things will work out next time. -

I truly feel for you. My surgery was supposed to be today, but Monday the surgeons office called to postpone my surgery until I can get my Iron levels up. They had the results for two weeks and didn't let me know or look at them for that matter. I talked to the nurse and asked her to check the levels drawn before my EGD which was done back in July and she said my levels were worse then. So again, I'm even more frustrated because they should have checked them then and I could have been taking iron supplements. I also tested positive for H Pylori which causes changes to the stomach lining which if left untreated could lead to cancer. So now Im on increased iron, two antibiotics, and prevacid. When I had the EGD, he said I had changes to my stomach lining, so why didn't he check me for H Pylori back then? He was so concerned that he did a biopsy but he didnt rule out that bacterial infection. Like you, I am emotionally invested and I'm so upset. My husband and I did most of the work getting it approved. I have gone through lots of tests. And we have been given several different dates and excuses. I can't give up now when I'm so close. My husband wanted to look for another surgeon, but I don't want to start over. My new date is November 5th. I pray it works out this time. I will keep you in my prayers. -

Well they said possibly on the 15th, but my hubby and I are going on a 7 day cruise on the 19th, so I have to wait til later. I wouldn't want to go away so far in case I had problems. I think my next available date is November 5th. I could have it on the 29th of October, but it would be at a different hospital and I already paid my copay, so they are trying to keep me at the same location to avoid having to resubmit to my insurance company. Im just so frustrated. The date has changed numerous times. I should have been able to get all this done back in August if they were on top of things. Oh well, im a strong believer in that thing happen for a reason. Perhaps God wanted me to enjoy my son's birthday on the 3rd, my mom's birthday on the 17th, and my getaway with my hubby before I have to go through the post op diet, lol. I just pray it all works out. These meds I'm on are kicking my behind. -

Well, I was supposed to be having my surgery today, but it is postponed for now due to my Iron being too low and having a stomach infection (H Pylori). Now I am on increased iron and antibiotics. I found this out two days ago, but was too upset to be online. The surgeon's office had my lab results almost two weeks and waits until two days before my surgery to review them. Not only that, but I had just paid my co-pay for a two night stay at the hospital=$1,000.00. Who knows when it will be now. The office said, I need to at least complete the 14 day antibiotic treatment and get my iron to a normal level. They said my hemoglobin was 10.7 (normal=12-16)and my iron saturation was 7 (normal being 15-50). I know the safety reasons for not doing my surgery, but I am still bummed all the same Good luck to everyone else with upcoming surgeries. -

I had my pre-op appointment today. I have to do a pre-op diet consisting of 2 shakes, at least 64 oz of liquids, and 1 meal (protein & veggies-no carbs) until day before when it switches to clear liquids. I also have to do a bowel prep with mag citrate the day before. October 1st will get here before I know it. I can't wait to tell my boss how soon my surgery date is. She knew I was waiting on a date, but we had 2 people quit and work is getting hectic, plus I just came back mid August from 6 week medical leave due to bladder surgery. I can't wait to read about everyone's progress throughout our journeys -
October 1st. Woohoo!!!!

I haven't gotten my official date yet. I am waiting on the scheduler to call me, but my insurance advocate said I could have it on October 8th at the earliest. My paperwork was submitted last Wednesday and I heard back yesterday. I go for my pre-op class this Friday and start my pre-op diet on the 24th. Since my surgeon is located out of town, I need to go have my lab work done somewhere today, so that they will have my results back by Friday. I was told I have to get that done so that they will know which supplements to start me on. Good Luck to everyone!!!! I look forward to reading posts from all of you -
Time off work?
Stephanie Rodriguez68 replied to youj13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a nurse on a Pediatric unit and plan on taking off a minimum of 6 weeks. If it were the beginning of summer, I might have said 4, but the fall/winter months are our busiest time and I sure don't want to get kicked in the belly or strain myself lifting anyone. Plus, we also get Adults if the rest of the hospital is busy. Good luck to everyone!!!! -
Just got my approval. Looks like the 8th for me too Good luck everyone
