Sue, how are you doing now? I hope all is going swimmingly! -
I've bought a variety of sample packs, so I wouldn't have an overwhelming supply of anything in particular. I've got unflavored protein powder more than anything, figuring it can go into most everything. Other than that, I haven't started shopping for post-op yet. I plan on getting sf Popsicles, sf jello, soup, skim milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.

. Thank you! I am most looking forward to finally being able to live with a normal sized body again! Yay!! What are you most looking forward to?I'm looking forward to having more energy to be active. I'm a tennis player and I miss it. It's a great social outlet too. I'm also looking forward to introducing better, healthier eating choices to my kids.

Congratulations, Sue! Did the hospital give you the abdominal binder or did you buy it yourself? 11 pounds to start is so awesome. Let everyone know what you are down at your post-op doctor's visit! Are you still walking a lot? Do you feel exhausted all the time? What pain meds did they send home with you? -

Hi Sue, how was surgery? Are you doing ok? Please let everyone know.... -

Hi Holly, congrats on your date. I'm June 16th too, but am not nearly as brave as you to go out of country. Travel safe, take good care of you, and keep that positive outlook going!
-
Hi Jenn, what a cool idea to get rid of everything that doesn't make you feel good. I think I'll do the same. So great that you are coming off meds too! I hope that will be the case with me too! June 2 is really close now...you are starting your new life now...enjoy the journey!

I am scheduled for June 5th also. I get nervous on and off. Pre diet is not very pleasant but I want the surgery to be without any complications so I have been super compliant. My food cravings have lessened and I am no longer dreaming of cooking like the first week. I'm with journeylite and they gave me the foods I have to eat up until the day of surgery so I didn't have to put much thought into it - which is a good thing.RNCurtin, congrats on your date! What about the pre-op diet isn't pleasant? Please share....

Hi Angela, best of luck to you too!
-
Ssbills, it is very normal to be scared. This a major surgery, but YOU CAN DO IT! Believe in the decision you've made & know that the probability for complications is actually very low. Allow yourself to get excited about starting a new chapter in your life! Approach each new day with the courage of conviction and knowledge that you are amazing to have decided to put yourself and your health first! You go, girl!

Surgery scheduled for June 4.....I drink water constantly but I was told once I have the surgery I may not be able to unless I add something to it.... They call it water nausea ... A co worker who had his surgery 2 years ago still can't drink water unless he adds something to it. Have u been reading about the hairloss? I think that is what is freaking me out the most....it's not like a woman can shave her head and be considered "hot" like some guys can!!!! Lol!Apex4me, the prospect of losing hair has me freaked out too! Are you doing a vitamin and biotin regime now? Consider starting it while you do the pre-op diet, if your doctor will approve it. I figure getting that process ingrained will help me later on. I've read that hair loss doesn't happen to everyone, but, if it does happen, you'll notice it most around month 3 post op. Have y'all read or heard the same thing?
-
Hirgirl, congrats on starting the pre-op diet. What kind of shakes are you doing? Are they good? What soups have you been eating?
-
I'm June 16th too. I have my pre-op physical this week (the 29th), then mini class (6/3) and then pre-op seminar on 6/12. Anyone doing a "last supper" of sorts with your favorite foods? I'm going to go out to a couple of my favorite restaurants and have enjoy some yummy food before my pre-op diet starts. What are y'all planning on taking to the hospital?

Hi June sleevers! What is everyone most excited about today?

Thanks, Poppi! -
I'm a self pay. My company's insurance does not have an "obesity rider" which allows for approval of the procedure for insurance purposes....early stage company with lots and lots of healthy people, so they felt they didn't need to pay for the rider. With self pay, the wheels do move faster, which I really appreciate. I'm maxing out BLIS insurance so all the various complications are covered for the max period possible. Having spent that money and my luck, all will go swimmingly. That's what I'm hoping! Congrats to all June sleevers! Nice to meet you and share the journey!

I just ordered a starter pack from Unjury...a sample pack from Jay Robb....and a sample pack from Chike Nutrition. The names were recommended in another thread, so I wanted to share!

Bless you for being up at that early hour week days....I could not do it, especially without caffeine....you are a goddess!
-
Caffeine is really harmful to your pouch. It can errode your new pouch and cause life threatening ulcers if unchecked. You should have heard everyone in my orientation class groan with dread when our NUT. said no more caffeine, ever! That is so interesting...my NUT said I needed to cut back to 2 shots of espresso a day post op, but coffee was fine. I'll ask my surgeon....thanks for the insight!
