I have also found that by putting my chocolate unjury in my coffee I have an instant mocha plus 20 grms of protein. That has been my morning drink lately. I didn't drink a lot of coffee before I got banded, but now that I don't drink diet coke anymore I am able to get a little caffeine.

I feel really left out when people are talking about fills, now you have had 3?! I had my surgery on Nov. 5th. and I haven't even had one fill. I lost a lot of weight before and after, but since I have been on regular food I've only lost about 8 lbs. December and Christmas was the killer for me. I think I gained and lost the same 3-4 pounds. The unfortunate thing for me is that my insurance co. won't pay for my fills, so it costs me $300 a fill. I was hoping I could make it until Febuary, but I think I will be calling to set up my appointment soon! I'm really pleased with my results so far, but I know I will lose again once I get my fill.

Logging Food and Activity?
wnt2lose replied to Kristin1031's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been using Fitday since before my surgery. I agree it is getting tedious entering nutritional information all the time. I would like to switch, but I also have been journaling. I guess I could just copy and paste and start over. I do know that I do better when I track everything. -
Even though my surgery was covered by insurance, my fills are not. It will cost me roughly $300 for every fill. (Using flouroscope etc) It is frustrating because in order to make the band work you need the fills, you'd think if the insurance cos. were paying for the surgery they would pay for the maintenence so it does work. Right now I am struggling a little. I know I need a fill, was banded Nov. 5th. Starting to get really hungry, but I won't be able to get it until Feb. due to saving money, etc. I will be getting an incentive check on Feb. 8th! I am just glad I have lost what I have without the fill. Hopefully January goes by quickly!!!

I was actually at a caucus last night. It was quite the experience. I'm glad my top two choices have won! I also am having a hard time liking Hillary. It will be interesting to see how the election goes from now on.

I found a way to get back on track... go shopping! I had gotten a couple gift cards for Christmas, and since my old clothes are falling off me, I decided to get some new pants. I was able to get a size 18!!! Considering I was busting out of my 24's this summer I was pretty excited. So even though I may have cheated more than I wanted over the week, I am now motivated to get going again!
-
I am also thankful Christmas is over for this year. I felt like I was eating non stop for two days. I enjoyed a few goodies, some wine, and good starchy food, now I'm ready to throw out all the junk and get back on track. At least I haven't gained weight. I was banded on Nov. 5th and haven't had a fill yet. I was hoping to stretch it out, but I think I am due for one soon. Even though my meals are still small and I feel retricted I notice I am hungry a lot more. My weight loss has also flat lined. At first, the weight just melted off, now I've been losing and gaining the the same 2-3 lbs.

Glad to see there are other Disney freaks among us! For those wondering about costs and planning... we always book through AAA We get some discount maybe 10%, but better than nothing. The above website is great. Also check out DISboards. I think it is best to plan ahead before you get there so you can avoid the crowds and ride as much as you can. For me the planning is as much fun as the trip! We can't wait to go back. Even if I can't eat as much most of the restaurants are fun and entertaining. My favorite Disney memory... Epcot is our favorite park. On our first family trip It started to rain right after illuminations (fireworks) Instead of racing with the crowds to the exit we walked the long way around the world showcase. It was so much fun playing in the rain and seeing the park close down. We felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. The girls had fun in each country and we could take pictures with nobody else in them. By the time we got to the front of the park there were only a few other people around. We got on an empty bus and headed back to our resort. I love it when it rains!

Hi. My family are big Disney nuts. We've taken 2 trips to Orlando since 2004. Each time we have said "This will be our last trip." Anyway, we are planning another trip next November. I just had lap-band surgery (Nov. 5th) and am hoping to be 80-100 lbs thinner by then. (That's my goal) Here's my question... Has anyone gone to Disney after lap-band surgery? We've always gotten the dining plan which includes a snack, counter service meal, and table service meal per day per person. Best part of last 2 trips was planning where and what to eat!!!:hungry: We've shared meals,so that won't be the issue, I guess I wonder if it will be a waste or if I should just plan to share with everyone.? Anyone else Disney nuts?

Blowing It With Christmas Goodies
wnt2lose replied to lapedtolive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I need help also! I have done really well until the last week. I kept telling myself one little bite won't hurt, but I haven't lost anything all week. So I told myself that after Christmas I will throw out all the junk and get back to the gym. I am really happy with my results so far, and one beauty of the band is my cheats are small compared to last year at this time. I just don't want to ruin all the work I've done so far. It's nice to finally want to have pictures taken. Yesturday we celebrated my daughter's birthday and it was the first picture I was really happy about with me in it! -
I can relate, Monday was my first day back at the gym since last spring. I was really nervous before going in, I even drove around the block to talk myself into going in. But I am so glad I forced my butt on the treadmill. I have been gong every night since. They have now added group classes so Monday I will try Pilates, Tuesday is Tae Boe, I play volleyball on Wednesdays so I don't go to class and on Thursday is a circuit training. I am the largest one, but I can do everything and I feel so much better! My goal is to keep going. Besides it is definately paying off on the scale. I had set a goal to be at 240 by Christmas, last night after support group, I stepped on the scale and I saw 238.9!!! OMG I about fainted. Much better than 295 this summer!

I love the chocolate, but I have to agree, the unflavored is gross! I can't even stand the smell of it. I've tried it in jello, pudding, yogurt, etc and it doesn't get any better. My chocolate is gone and I still have almost a 3/4 full container of unflavored. My nutritionist gave me some unflavored from GNC. It at least doesn't smell so nasty, and it is actually better.

I also teach in a high school. I have had several students make postitive comments. I had one comment I will always remember. This was right before Thanksgiving break. I was coming in to school one morning and one of my 9th grade students saw me. He asked if I have been losing weight. He then went on to tell me to keep up the good work. He then laughed and joked, "Don't eat too much turkey, you don't want to gain it back" I thanked him for making my day. He was then killed in a car accident that weekend. :think Why do horrible things happen to the good ones? I haven't stopped thinking about him and his family since. So to everyone enjoy those postitive comments!

I went to the back of my closet and found a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear in about 3-4 years. They were a size 18W. It doesn't matter if they are a stretchy jean, I got them zipped and I wore them all day! Much better than the 22-24's I was wearing this summer! All my other dress pants and clothes I wear to work are falling off me.

My kids knew about my decision from the moment I got my insurance approval. My girls are 14,12, and 9. They have been totally supportive of my decision since then. My oldest, who has like 5% body fat thought I was going to starve myself. The other two were understanding. I was glad I told them. That way they didn't have to worry about me the week after surgery, and they understood why I couldn't eat food for so long before and after surgery. I figured they were part of the reason I wanted to get healthy and wanting to change our eating habits so we can all be healthier, so why not let them know.

My turn!! I've enjoyed reading all your bios. My name is Lisa. I teach high school English. I am 41 and for the first time in 9 yrs I weigh under 250 lbs! I have been married for 17 yrs and we have 3 dd's. Alicia 14, Danielle 12, and Kelli 9. We live in Iowa. I was banded on Nov. 5th and have enjoyed a month of losing a lot of weight! I love to play volleyball and softball, although I have gotten a lot slower the last few years as my weight kept getting bigger and bigger. I was tired of being the biggest on my team, (women's and co-ed) so I was ready to do something permanent. DID NOT want bypass so I've found the lap-band and have been singing it's praises since! I went to my first WW meeting with my mom when I was still in high school. I've always been able to lose weight, but always struggled to keep it off. Finally decided to be fat and happy until high blood pressure and diabetes started knocking on the door. I am a very competitive person so I will make this work. When I lose 100lbs I told myself I'd get a tattoo. I've always thought of getting a fairy or butterfly, now I can get a nymph and have meaning behind it!

I was banded on Nov. 5th. So far I've lost 31lbs since surgery and I definately can tell I have restriction. I just saw my Dr. this morning. He and I are very pleased with how things are going. He is also very conservative with fills. I have nothing scheduled right now. I will see him again in 2 months. Maybe by then I'll need something.
-
I also can't believe that I've been banded only a month ago! I feel like a different person. At first the weight just melted off me. This week though it has slowed way down. Which is ok because I don't want to lose too fast. I certainly feel restricted even without a fill. Still on mushies but possibly after I see the Dr. on Monday I'll be on to regular food. It is amazing how I am making what used to be one meal into two! We were at the mall the other day and for supper I got myself a plain bean cheese burrito. I just ate the middle of it and I got full on just half of it. So I wrapped it back up and took it for my lunch the next day. Some days I have a hard time getting in the required Protein and Water. Does anyone else get bugged that your food gets cold before you can eat it all? I never had that problem before, but now with little bites and taking my time I am constantly having to re-heat it to keep it warm. It's also funny to be the last one eating from my little plate. I was able to start playing volleyball again! Yes, even though I am 100lbs overweight I have always played and loved volleyball. (Just not as quick as I used to be. ) Anyway, I felt so good and actually felt I could jump higher than I did a month ago!

Great Post Op Visit & Answers
wnt2lose replied to hollyberries's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your weight loss so far! I have also been shocked at how the weight has been dropping for me. I was 295 this summer and last week at my appt. I was at 248! I have not weighed under 250 in about 6 years. I too, worry about losing too quickly. This week my weight loss has slowed down a little. I had my surgery on Nov. 5th. Keep us posted on your success. Are your clothes starting to hang on you? I haven't been hungry as well. My Dr. is pretty conservative with fills, so I don't even have one scheduled yet. Another lady I know who was banded with my Dr. didn't need one until 5 mos. after her surgery. Keep us posted on your progress. -
I took 2 weeks, but only because I had sick days available. I could've easily gone back after 1 week. The second week I just considered a mental health week to catch up and get aquainted with my new band and eating schedule. I had my surgery on Monday and didn't actually feel good until Saturday. Of course I had staples in my inscisions and they didn't get removed until the Wednesday of the 2nd week. They really started to itch and bother me by then. If you have the time, don't rush it.

It was definately a different Thanskgiving, but one I didn't mind at all! As we were driving home after our second meal of the day I told my dh that I was absolutely stuffed! At 11:30 we were at my sister-in-laws. Everything looked and smelled great. The only things I felt like I could eat were a spoonful of sweet potatoe casserole, a spoonfull of green bean casserole, and some mashed potatoes w/ gravy. The turkey looked a little dry, so I was afraid to try any of it. I ate real slow and chewed a lot. Other people with more food on their plates, took less time to eat than I did. Then I had a couple bites of pumpkin pie minus the crust. Later that night we went over to my mom's house. There I had some cranberry Jello salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes and a little bit of turkey shredded and mixed with some gravy. It was heavan! I still only had about a teaspoon of each. It was so nice to be able to eat basically the same dinner that everyone else was eating, but in way smaller quantities. As I said on the way home I told my husband I felt stuffed like in past years even though I ate a fraction of what I used to.

I was banded on Nov. 5. I am really surprised that I am not hungry at all! I have been following my Dr's diet plan to a T and believe me it is not much. I finally got moved to mushies today and it is surprising how full I got. I couldn't even eat 4oz of food. I'm glad I feel restricted, because I am also losing. I know a gal that has been banded by my Dr. this July and she is just now scheduling her first fill!
