help me narrow down mexico surgeon choice
shalopash replied to djpfeils's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Rumbault. You cannot find a better surgeon. I just had my gall bladder out and the surgeon said she was going to look around while she was in there. She said the band looked great. In fact a bariatric surgeon came in while she was checking things out and made the comment that it was very nicely done. Before I went to Dr. Rumbault (2 1/2 years ago) I did a lot of research and I could not find anyone that had had a bad experience with him. He really is that good. Good luck, whatever you decide to do. -
where do you get your fills in Dallas?

How long between the last time you eat and when you go to bed? Eating too soon before bedtime can cause these symptoms.

Not an expert by any means, but perhaps you need to eat more protein. It seems the more I eat the less hungry I am.

Tijuane vs. Monterrey, Help!
shalopash replied to cherylgrzeb's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
After much research I went to Dr. Rumbaut. I'm very pleased with that decision for many reasons. However, as stated above, before going to Mexico make sure you have someone who will do your fills (unless you are going to return to Mexico for the fills). I personally have gone back to Monterrey for my fills because I was so impressed with Dr. Rumbaut and I don't want anyone else to mess up my band. I also live in Texas so it's not that far to go. -

Erosion, The Real Facts
shalopash replied to Ariel Ortiz M.D. FACS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This thread has been amazing. I just have to put in my two cents. First of all, medicine is certainly not an exact science, so even the greatest surgeon or doctor, or whatever you want to call them, can make a mistake or even if he or she doesn't make a mistake each patient reacts differently (within a certain range) to a specific form of treatment. I don't think it is appropriate to damn all Mexican doctors. I have seen lots of posts on various boards from people who have had eroded bands that had their surgery done in the U.S. There are good and bad doctors every where. I'm glad that people that can't afford to have the surgery in the U.S. at least have the opportunity to have it at all. I have met people who had their surgery in Mexico as far back as 1991 and have had no problems. I have talked to people who had their surgery in Australia and have had nothing but problems. I have heard of people in my city that have had the surgery here and nearly died. Then, I have read of people who had their surgery in Mexico and had problems, people in Australia who have had none and people in my city that are going great. It's a crap shoot guys! So don't scare people off whose only hope is in Mexico, help them find the best doctor, be it here or there, and pray that they will have a great experience and a long life. -

I'm in Dallas. I have some 20's, 18's and 16's all packed up in a bag and ready to go somewhere. -

How about exercise and plastic surgery!?!?!?!?!?!:biggrin1:

If it was me, I would not get a fill if I was still feeling restricted from the surgery. As long as you are losing weight I'd would wait. That was what my doctor suggested - as soon as you stop losing weight and you don't feel restricted, it is time for a fill.

Anyone use Dr. Rumbaut in Monterey, Mexico?
shalopash replied to Buffy's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Rumbaut was my surgeon on July 12, 2005. I really can't say much of anything that has not already been said. You have made a very good choice. -
I think there is a school of thought that says if you have thyroid problems your success will not be as good as for those who do not have these problems. Perhaps that is where the doctor is coming from. I don't know, however, of any doctor's who don't do the surgery because of hyopthyroidism..

Typical Day: B: Protein Shake (w/fruit, no sugar) L: 3 oz can of tuna mixed with 1 t mayo, 1 t pickle relish, 5 crackers D: 3 to 4 oz portion of fish or ground beef or chicken with 1/2 to 1 cup of vege (non starchy) Lots of water during the day. So why am I not loosing weight? I'm not hungry, I get all my protein in, I'm eating around 1100 calorie a day and I'm doing aerobics 3 times a week. Perplexing!!!

Did not cover my surgery. Not only that, but they were rude about it.

Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey. I highly recommend him. I had my surgery on 7/12/05 and have lost 11 pounds.
