This is really hard.
BSU replied to Ballinallthetime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would just echo that it gets better. Find out what works for you. Do not worry if you do not meet your Protein goals for a while. Just do what you can. -
I've been wondering somewhat the same thing. How strict do we need to be long term? Looking at just the numbers, you get 23 fat 62 carb 18 Protein Okay, that is not good. But, will it set you back if only done rarely? I know if I was on a diet pre-surgery that would have messed me up because once I slipped I had a really hard time getting back in line. What have people experienced here? How much does an indiscretion set you back?

Same for me. The "healthy" weight seems to mean perfectly skinny. The best I have ever seen as an adult is 240. I would be thrilled to be back there again.

6 Days Post-OP - My surgery experience...
BSU replied to jrsygrl007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! Sounds like a rough start, but that you have settled in well. It can take a while to get the shakes down. I am able to get about half of one down on the drive to work, but then it takes hours to finish the other half. -
Trust in the process. This will work. Stay away from the scales. It is a long term process and there are going to be plateaus, but this will work. You can do it.

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
BSU replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your friend sounds like an idiot. The health benefits are undeniable. Cut your losses with her and move on. Believe in yourself. You are on the right track. -
I've wondered this as well. I think 178 is supposed to be my ideal weight based on build and height, but I can't even fathom that number. I think I am just going to wait and see where I am in a year and then decide.

One week - Happy but battling myself mentally
BSU replied to Mrs King's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing awesome! Way to go. Just remember, it is a marathon, not a sprint. It is going to take a long time to get where we want to be. Try to think long term. I am staying off the scale as well. I'll check every two weeks at most. I know if I follow the plan, over time this will work. -
I like Muscle Milk and Atkins for taste. Premier Protein has 30g which is nice. Celebrate has Vitamins mixed in. Just try them and see what works for you.

No good answer. Maybe break up the routine. That strict of a schedule would drive me crazy. I am 1 week out as well and I just try to sip Water all day and spread out the Protein as best I can. I get maybe 40 in each day. Aren't there some flavorless protein powders like unjury that can be added to broth or other liquids? Maybe worth a try.

I am just a couple days ahead of you. Day 4 was better than 3 and 5 was better than 4. I'm sure there will be some setbacks, but we have to try to stay focused on the long term goal. Hang in there! We are with you.

Going It Alone - No Help After Surgery
BSU replied to blondiebabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Biggest issue I see is getting back home from the hospital after the endoscopy and surgery. You may still be under the effects of anesthesia or pain medications and may not be able to drive yourself. Really handy to have someone to drive you home. -
Post-Op 4 days out...Not enough fluids?
BSU replied to Pfaber2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
S+5. I was struggling with the fluids as well until yesterday. I was trying taking one of the little medicine cups they gave me every 15 minutes, but of course you can't be perfect so I wasn't getting it all in. Yesterday I tried taking bigger swallows of Water (actually two or three sips at a time) and it really helped. The Protein shakes are still hard to get in. It took all day today to get two of them down with the sips spread out over the whole day. -
4th day Post-op. Feeling really dizzy, FEEDBACK please
BSU replied to Gr8fulMiniMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
S+5 here. That does not sound normal. Are you having trouble getting in the Protein and Water?. I am still struggling with getting in two Protein shakes a day. Finally made it today and it seems to help with my energy level. Water was a struggle until I realized I could take more than 1 OZ of water at a time. I'm still not as hydrated as I would like, but am getting better.
