How soon did you return to work?

    Same here. No problems.
  2. Don't worry about the Protein right now. Whatever you get in is fine. You had such a rough time it may take a while to get comfortable with fluids. I started out timing my 1 oz drinks, but eventually was able to take 3-4 oz at a time.
  3. That's good. My wife is 100% behind me as well. Hopefully your hubby will get it when he sees how little you can eat.
  4. I think I am starting to understand how this works. Had a little bowl of scrambled eggs this morning and I was STUFFED. . . . for hours. Could not finish it. Also have tried finely diced chicken in lite gravy. That worked well too. So nice to not be drinking Protein shakes. I think I can live off the above for two weeks. What are your favorites at this stage?

    1 Year Post VSG!

Congrats! Love seeing pictures like these.
  7. Sorry to hear it. I have been lucky to have not run into the non-supportive types. I've also kept it fairly close to the vest and have only told a few people. Is your spouse on board?

    HOUSTON Sleevers?

I'm hungry too, but its better than it was pre-surgery,
  9. Your Protein sounds great. I'm not getting that much in. Good luck with the Zofran
  10. I look at soup broth as liquids. Vegetable juice is clearly a liquid. Tomato soup is only a bit thicker. "Cream of" soups and clam chowder are about the same. As long as you are just skimming off the top or filtering out the chunks, I think you are safely in bounds. Same here, a few spoonfulls and I am full. I can't finish much. I do follow the no drinking rule while eating soup.
  11. The pre-op was torture. I had full scale hunger and Protein shakes just wouldn't cut it. I was STARVING! That was probably the carb withdrawal at work. Post surgery is much better. Still hits me, especially when I am around other people eating good food, but it is nowhere near as bad. Hang in there!
  12. I'm one week ahead of you and have been thinking the same thing. Summers are brutal here so I probably won't see the neighbors again until the end of August at the school bus stop. I am hoping to have lost a lot by then.
  13. I do not think it is jealousy. This person has built up a world view where being fat is alright and perfectly healthy. I agree it is alright, However, it is not healthy. She is seeing your choice to improve your health and quality of life as a criticism of her choice to remain fat. It threatens her. It challenges her happy bubble. It looks like there is nothing you can do but remain fat with her or move on.
  14. Are there any medication options for the nausea? I had stamina issues until I was able to get some Protein down. How are you doing getting your protein in?

    Finally!

I'm 11 days post surgery. I'm having no problem with water, but protein shakes still fill me up. I get in maybe two protein shakes spread out over the day. About the only other thing I eat are brothy soups (just the liquid from tomato or clam chowder) and V8. Maybe 2-3 oz of soup and I feel full. The soups are nice because I can find them fairly easily at restaurants and it maintains a semblance of normalcy. I get to move on to purred food soon. I'll probably just add scrambled eggs and finely diced chicken mixed with broth or gravy. I should be able to get enough protein there to back off of the shakes a bit.
  16. I am waiting until my first post-opp appointment to weigh in. I do not want to get a discouraging result because of volatility from retaining fluids.
  17. I tried timing it, then I discovered around day 3 or 4 that I could drink more than 1 oz of Water at a time. Being able to get down a good swallow or two at a time made all the difference for me. Protein is still more filling and takes longer to get down.

    HOUSTON Sleevers?

June 3 here, Memorial Hermann @ Memorial City
  19. I had heartburn at first when laying flat. I was okay by day 4 or so. 10 days out and I am still struggling with getting more than 40 oz or so of Protein. Gas pains were gone by day 3. Slept through the night after 3 or 4 days.
  20. I slept a lot at first as well. Your energy will come back.

    1 Month Out

    Congratulations! Way to go.
  22. This may sound lame, but it gets better. Can you take anti-nausea medication? Try ice chips, cold or warm Water, Gatoraide 2. See if anything works for you.

Not cool. Sorry to hear it. Any chance you can get a second opinion? I don't know much about bypass, but perhaps it is a good option.
  24. Great. Did they give you strips to take home to change them? They did not give replacements. They said just leave them alone and let them fall off on their own.
  25. Mine still had the steri-strips over them at that point. 9 days now and 3 of the 5 still have the strips on them.
