Hello Folks, A couple of weeks ago I posted about a stall after beginning exercise and staying on plan with food. It does seem so unfair like it should be impossible but yes it does happen. In that time I did even go up 1 lb. I just see that as a part of the stall thing. Its hard and sad when we don't want to see gains but Ive come to realize that the body is highly intelligent, efficient and probably more complex than I will ever truly know. It took 2 weeks but the stall broke. I am not a super fast loser anyway but Ive seen some steady drops in weight since the stall broke. Also, for ladies our cycle does have a lot to do with it. Take heart everyone I believe if we stay on plan and stay healthy weight will shed….

Hi Friends I need your advice! Over a week ago I started working out about 5 times a week. I have gotten more hungry since beginning that but Im still keeping my calories under 1,000. Usually they are 800-900 calls per day. Well I've been in a stall for a little over a week now - about the same time as I began exercising. What the heck is going on. Can I really stall because Im exercising or eating more even though my calories are still low????

Good morning team! I hope everyone is doing well and feeling empowered. Thanks for this challenge. Ive just started doing the Beach body PIYO program and I do like. However, my natural tendency is to be lazy at exercise and never complete or be consistent. This weekend was a sad/emotional weekend and I found myself taking bites of cake and chips etc. Thank God for the sleeve… I was able to stop and no downward spiral. Id like to commit to doing PIYO 5-6 times per week. Anyone else out here doing PIYO???? Target: PIYO 5-6 times per week CW: 207 GW: 187 August 8th - PIYO: CW: August 15th - PIYO: CW: August 22nd - PIYO: CW: August 29nd - PIYO: CW: Sept. 5th - PIYO: CW: Sept. 12th - PIYO: CW: Sept 19th - PIYO: CW: Sept 26th - PIYO: CW: October 1st - PIYO: CW: PIYO COMPLETED???!!!!

Hello everyone, Im about 10 weeks out now and my weightloss has really slowed down to 1-2 lbs per week with a stall here and there. I keep my carbs low and I don't always hit my protein goal of 70 but Im usually at 50-65. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

Hello Folks, Happy to have found this group! I was sleeved on April 28. My highest was 259 today Im 216 or 217 depending on what the scale feels…. Protein was my greatest challenge since I could only eat 2 ounces at a time and less of dense protein. I also hated all protein shakes…. At this stage I'm doing much better with protein. I may still need the help of a shake here and there but its getting better. Now I need to focus on keep both protein and water up - almost feels like a full time job to constantly think about and put protein in and get the water in between but Im getting there…. Also on my agenda is to really commit to working out. I would like to try the new beach body workout - PIYO. Let me know if anyone is doing that. Congrats to all of us April sleevers!

I have two Protein shakes a day with at least 30g of protein (usually as Snacks - this morning at 6am I had 3oz of chicken salad as Breakfast, then had a shake here at work around 10 am). At work I drink the premade Premeir Protein Shakes (you can get them at Wal-Mart, online at Amazon or in some grocery stores). At home I drink the Body Fortress powder, which is also 30g. That's 60 right there. With the body fortress, I use silk soy milk so that adds in another 6g. Because I am Diabetic, I've basically been trying to low carb the heck out of everything. So I will eat lots of Chicken and yogurt (greek has more than regular). And I weigh everything on my food scale so I know if I have 2 oz of chicken how many g of protein I am getting. I've become a bit of a control freak since I started this process. But if I don't weigh and measure and keep track I worry I will just revert back to old habits. I still have things I need to work on. the sleeve didn't magically make me like vegetables. So I've got to work on finding ways to prepare them so that I will eat them. Hi Forsythia, welcome! Wow what great progress. Just goes to show how each body is unique. I had my VSG on 4/28 and Im about 30+ down from my highest and 20+ from surgery. I gained about 10lbs of IV fluid weight while in the hospital so I had to get that off at the beginning… Can you tell me how you are getting all your protein in? I am struggling with that!

Hello Everyone - Ill be 4 weeks tomorrow His grace! Sleeve is doing better and more tolerant of food. I need help on some ideas for protein in the mornings. I know I can do a protein shake. Ive also had soft scrambled egg but that was just ok and only 6 grams of protein. Now that Im on soft foods I really need to work on getting that protein in. Any ideas or favorites? Also, I do feel myself getting jiggly - what sorts of exercise did you do at this stage to tighten up? Thanks BP

Congrats - wishing you a great recovery with plenty of protein!

@@plumlove Glad to hear you are feeling better. At 3 weeks out I was extremely fatigued even walking up stairs was a challenge. Could barely get my fluids in due to hernia repair pain. I was out of work for 6 weeks. I did occasional walks around the block at 4 weeks or so for like 10 minutes but my serious fitness began at about 6-7weeks out when I started spin classes again. I'm 5 months out now and back to my normal routine of a healthy spin addiction. I walk and do moderate strength training occasionally at home for about 20-25 minutes or so. Take it easy but do your best to keep moving so the fat comes off without losing too much good muscle. Good luck I'm down 67 since surgery and 90 since last October -- woohoooo!!! My diet is very restricted due to gastritis but I'm hoping that heals up soon cause I miss sushi sooo sooo sooooo bad! : You look great! Go on girl! Well I am moving around but I have a lot of muscle fatigue. I feel my muscles burning and fatiguing with activities that i was normally doing before with no problem - I better get a couple of weights. Any tips for losing consistently?

Ahhh 3 wks was a catch 22. It was when I began to feel better and slightly normal again but I hit my stall then too at 27 lbs, the scale didn't move that whole week and now at 4 weeks tmrw I'm down 30. I just got clearance for workouts yesterday at my 1 month post op appt. Before then just walking. But still have the restriction of no lifting over 20lbs. Good luck, every day gets better...thank goodness...the first two weeks should earn us a medal! Agreed - they are brutal! This is really more than a notion! Looks like the scale started moving but not sure of that should attributed to starving - not getting much food in - maybe 300-400 calories; dehydration - not enough water, low protein consumption - thats been a big challenge only able to eat 1/4 cup at a time - most solids going down and sitting REAL heavy…. Hating protein shakes or this minor case of bronchitis that I got… Lord… But I did come up with a protein shake today with an extra scoop of protein and I hit ~50g of protein with that… so thats a plus. Dr. prescribed predizone today but Im not feeling the steroids right now…. Im sure it gets better :-)))

Hello Everyone, Today marks my 3 week post op. So far I have lost about 20-25 lbs depending on when I start counting. I ended up gaining about 10lbs of IV fluids in the hospital so I had to loose that first…. To be honest I feel much better but still struggling to hit all the targets, I have not started formal exercise as I still feel very tired most days. When and how much did you start exercising? This week I also went through the dreaded week 3 stall (a little early)…. Glad to have found this forum!

sleeve gastrectomy in Pakistan
plumlove replied to hass's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Hass, I wish you all the best! I really admire your tenacity to go through this knowing that you will not have a nutritionist!. There is a wealth of info on Bariatric Pal and Im sure some folks could share their nutritionist info with you if you like. You could certainly look at the "manual" I was given from Rush University Hospital here in Chicago. You are about 4 days out now- how are you feeling. Remember to walk to get the gas out and sip as much Fluid as you can. -
Plumlove, to answer your question--you DON'T "get it together" in three weeks!!! You're doing fine. You've made a huge life change and you will be changing for many years to come. You just had major surgery--of course your energy is kinda low. It's ok. You do your best; you hit the suggest goals the best you can; you keep in touch with your bariatric team; and it will come together. Highly suggest that you do not weigh every day. Once a week will give you a realistic measure of how your weight loss is going. Regarding protein. There's a lot of different options. Just keep sampling 'til you find what you like for now. Just remember, your taste buds are kinda screwy right now and are definitely subject to change. What you may find digusting today, you might try a month from now and totally love. Work with your bari team about the vitamins to find a combination that works for you until your stomach heals and you can tolerate all the regular ones again. Exercise--do what you can--just try to get yourself to "move"' every day. Doesn't have to be formal killer workouts at the gym! Hang in there. It's all so overwhelming, but you will do this and find the joy that so many people are talking about!!!

Hi everyone. This Sunday will make 3 weeks for me and for the past week or so I have been at the same weight. I briefly saw a 2 lb drop but that was a flash in the pan - maybe I was dehydrated that am…... Do you all stall this early out? How do you deal with it? Thanks BP family!
-
Thanks folks for the responses. That all makes sense to me. I used to like Zumba so I will try that again as well. I like the amazon idea for trying out some classes. I also have a treadmill and some weights at home. Im probably good for a while. If I can do some online classes or find groupon. Ive had gym memberships and it was just a waste except for taking aqua aerobics 1 per week...

Hello Community I am new here and almost 3 weeks post op. I truly appreciate BP and all of the positive support here. I am 37 years old and have never been into fitness. When I was younger, I would go to the gym as a chore and a necessity. St this point I want to find something that will support my weightloss and something I can stick with and even enjoy. Please let me hear from all of you who are practicing Pilates: 1. is it your main form of exercise? 2. Is it enough to promote weightloss? 3. Will it help with saggy skin? 4. Is weight training better? Thanks all!

Bad Nausea! I need Help
plumlove replied to teshadb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some nausea but not severe. Warm herbal tea worked for me. Chamomile and cinnamon read felt nice. Also sad to say but I rarely have plain water - I have crystal light - so be life water 0 - Vitamin water 0… Please ask your doc for nausea meds if needed. If you cannot drink you will get dehydrated end up back in the hospital so please let the Dr know.
