Any One Else Have A 'relaxed' Surgeon....
txteachingirl replied to Isaacsmomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor was very similar. I've lost about 40 pounds since July 20. The weight is coming off slow but steady. -
My hair is falling out like crazy! Even more than it did before I had the surgery. I get about 60 grams of Protein a day. I also take Biotin and a prenatal Vitamin. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks! I'm 2 months post op . Could it still be from anesthesia?

Day 2 Post Op..
txteachingirl replied to Erin O'Donnell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just a few weeks post op and I can say it definitely gets better. For now I would walk whenever you can and sleep/ rest the other time. I stayed on my pain and nausea meds for almost five days! -
I was banded on 7/19 as well and I have lost 18lbs and after my dr struggled to do my first fill he told me he wanted me to do better about losing weight. I was so shocked (not to mention in pain) that I just left. This is what I say....if you are losing and you feel good and you are eating healthy that's all that matters!

I had my first fill yesterday. It wasn't a great experience but I feel much better today!

Is it normal to still have nausea five days after surgery? Should I go back on clear liquids?

Nausea 5 Days Post Op??
txteachingirl replied to txteachingirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! My dr actually only required clear liquids for 48 hours then I could do other liquids. I haven't been eating much (or drinking) much so maybe that is it. I had some hot apple cider after this post, slept a little more, and now I am drinking a protien shake and I feel ok. I have my follow-up appt. Thursday, I also have the magic nausea cream. Thanks again. -
I know I am ready to move on to the next stage but I definitely don't want to rush it. Are you feeling super hungry?

Hello Emma! I was just banded 3 days ago. I am still on liquids as you can imagine. I have told some people but no one really understands my decision which is why I am here! Tamikia

Hey everyone. I am planning on going to Mexico at the end of this month and I want to set up a fill doctor here. I live in Orlando and I would like to stay close but I am willing to travel to anywhere from Miami to Jacksonville. Thanks!

Has anyone use a FillCenter USA in Florida??

Keeping it a secret?
txteachingirl replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So my friend who was originally supportive but changed her mind called me tonight. We got into a dicussion about it and I told her I was not going to argue with her about it that it was my decision. She then went on to explain how she sees people on Oprah who are like 600 pounds and they are losing weight the "right way". I told her she never sees the thousands of people who lose it with the help of WLS and she said thats because it is more admirable to lose it on your own. I was SO furious! I lost it. She said she hopes I know that its just because she is scared and cares about me but I told her she can be scared but be my friend too and that means supporting the decision I have made. -
Keeping it a secret?
txteachingirl replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have only told a 4 friends, mom (she told my sister and brother and probably my uncles). My friends were supportive but randomly the other day my one friend out of the blue told me that she didn't want me to have it and that she didn't think it was the right solution so we have quit talking about it. I am a new teacher at my school and when I put my request in for time off I simply said that I was having an outpatient procedure done. I have decided not to tell my fellow teachers until they ask me about my weight loss (if they ask me). I feel that society looks down on you like when you lose the weight it isn't and accomplishment simply because you had WLS. -
My insurance doesn't cover the procedure has anyone else had to have their surgery financed?

Mindy, thank you so much for that information. I just pulled my score and it was 609...I thought it would be much higher because I got a great interest rate when I refinanced my car. Oh well. Hopefully I can get approved. I think I will need to finance pretty much the whole thing. T
