Your decision is a difficult one but it is very possible for you to make the best choice for you. Having a support system was very important to me the day of my surgery May 5th because I was very nervous going in and it just did my heart warm to have my loved ones right there in my room with me when I first opened my eyes. With that being said, you should change your eating habits now and not just after you have surgery so if your concern is not being able to eat what you want then that is just you putting it off for the sake of old habits. You will also need a little help once you get home. I can't tell you what I'd do or what you should do but I can say you must make the best choice for your day of surgery, your recovery and support. Yes had a ban for like 6 years didn't loose much weight, decided to revise it to the sleeve and coudn't be happier

Thanks everyone for your very helpful and supportive advice! Seems his issues are the complications that follow after the surgery, i.e. death, sepsis, malabsorption, etc. I did this for me and you guys are right, why should I allow his negative comments to stop my progress. THANKS ALL!!

Has anyone experienced their spouse being negative about the VSG surgery post-op? I am having a major issue because my spouse feels very negative about how I could turn out post-op (complications, etc.), i've found myself going back to some of the bad habits I had pre-op and I am 15 days post-op . Can anyone relate?

Yes, a probiotic is actually recommended as one of the daily supplements that should be taken after the VSG. It does help regulate your movements as well as promote healthy intestional bacteria. The brand that I have had great success with is the Bariatric Advantage which can be ordered online. It has been said that patients that take probiotics after surgery loose more weight.
