Almost 7 months out...no weight loss
gilliebean replied to CajunCutie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds to me like you need a counsiler to help you find out why you are self sabatoging (sp?). I know why i do that i just need to work on my head and figure out how to love myself and realize i am worth it. You are worth it and you need to figure out how to be your own inspiration. I know its hard to do but its worth it. I still have a lot of weight to lose and am just waiting for the day i have an after picture. -

good for you and admiting your problems are a good first step -
just my depo shot which i have been on for the better part of 10 years so maybe the combo of that with the surgery is doing it

Post-Op problems...HELP
gilliebean replied to Insky67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
start with relaxing. Being tense makes it worse. Go back to liquids for a couple days your pouch is probably irrated and needs a break the best way to do this is to do liquids. My doc says any time i get something stuck to go back to liquids for a day then to mushies. In your case you are no were near healed from your surgery. This is a very sensitive time for you to heal and you need to try at all cost not to get sick. -
hi I am new and really need advice
gilliebean replied to gritar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i really don't think your at more of a risk for dying in either surgery. I know however that is why i had LB cause i felt like it was safer. As for losing the rest of your 5% try a liquid diet like optifast. I did it for ten days before my surgery and lost 18 lbs. Make sure you all do all the research and feel good about what ever decision you make for your surgery. Good luck. -
just want to subscribe so i can read responses

Cigarrettes anyone???
gilliebean replied to ghannouge's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are a couple reason they make you quit so heres a list 1. Its bad for you 2. It makes the risk for blood clots higher 3. It thins your blood 4. It slows down healing time 5. Once banded it will cause ulcers in your new stomach So take it from someone who had to quit its better to do it now you don't have to be nic fitting while your healing. Yes it sucked but its one of the best things I have ever done. I can smell things i didn't know i couldn't smell before. I don't have to stand out side during storms any more. I don't have to worry if a resturant has a smoking section. I save about 2 grand a year. I don't have to worry about having a lighter or matches. I don't have to make sure i stop and get some smokes before the snow storm. I also am not putting on extra weight from stoping to pick up the smokes which resulting in buying a soda and a muffin while i was there. So anyway i could go on and on but trust me its worth it. O also my kids no longer smoke because i was stupid. -
this happens to me alot and when i can't stand it anymore i usually go on a liquid diet for two or three days and it tends to break it so you can try that if you can stand it.

Stitches>popped>pulled???
gilliebean replied to LeighDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this happened to me too the best my doctor and i figured is that i pulled the muscle the port is attached to. It doesn't hurt like that any more and couple weeks later it finally went away. -

Anyone get new insurance just for WLS?
gilliebean replied to amanda2008's topic in Insurance & Financing
don't know i know that aetna is a really good insurance to have for this surgery. As long as you haven't had your consult with the surgern it shouldn't be pre-existing. I did get second insurance cause my husbands employer also had it excluded. I pick up my insurance in nov. and had my surgery in jan. -
also try standing with you head toward your toes it helps to move what ever is stuck so you can either spit it up or get it down thats what i do and i am never stuck more then 5 minutes

Hi all well guess what i knew i lost weight cause the scale says so but i haven't really noticed. But i had to get a new swimming suit. My old one that by the way last summer was almost to small now is way to big I can't even pretend to keep my breast were they are suppose to be at in there. So i thaught that was cool. I didn't think i had lost enough weight that my bathingsuit wouldn't fit so it was a nice surprise luckly my mom had a smaller one that fit.

Are Seminars nessisary
gilliebean replied to Idgett's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor required so many hours of education before he would do surgery so i had to do a seminare and three days of classes so that i was as informed as i could be and knew what i was getting into. -
it can be that it can also be when you have taken to big of a bit or not chewed your food well enough. Or when you don't listen to your body and put to much in all together
-
that bubble feeling is you drinking to fast probably slow down. Also my doctor told me not to worry about how often i ate until i got to the solid foods. I was eating every one to three hours partically cause i was afraid to eat enough in the begining.
-
I think you and he should do an experiment. You say your both about the same size so after your surgery you and him do a biggest loser and see who loses the most and how fast. That will show him the benefit of the surgery.

Post op muscle spasms
gilliebean replied to chefsteph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sounds like gas or constipation. Some times the gas can be very hard and uncomfortable to deal with. -
yes i will lose like five or ten pounds in a week then nothing for three or four weeks so don't stress i also usually work out and watch what i eat.
-
any diet shrinks your liver the question is how fast. When you lose weight or gain it the first place it comes and goes is your liver. I got my Optifast from my doctors office im sure you can probably get it online also.
-
well i started the process with a bmi of 59 i did the optifast for ten days before my surgery lost 18 lbs and the doctor said my liver was great but he thinks even tho i am as big as i was that he didn't think my liver was that big to begin with.
