  1. As a newer member, I think it would be real beneficial for moderators to be able to stick a popular thread on the front page of sections. great stickies would be things like facts about different aspects of wls. other maybe, nausia and how to treat it. non scale victories, etc.

    OR - Portland

west side? too much traffic and heartache for me. sounded like a lot of East side people checking in on this group too. SE, Aloha, Sandy, Damascus (me).... people maybe interested in rotating locations? either way, thanks for setting this up for people
  3. haters gonna hate. just make sure you are happy, and fill your surroundings with people who love you for who you are. keep on keepin on!
  4. nice read. I'll keep all of this in mind.
  5. I think the main reason for the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver to allow for more room for the surgeon to operate. Either way, great progress and I am glad you are feeling so well and staying positive. keep it up!

Got my pre op date :D

Well that is hard to say. each program really differs from the other. I know I got a welcome packet when I went in that has a checklist that shows your progression. At least you are moving forward with your program...Progress!!!

    STUPID PCP!

That is a sad story, but easily fixed. bye bye old PCP, hello new supportive caring PCP. good luck!!!
  8. I think trying them out first is a great idea. The last thing you want is to be fresh out of recovery and sore and not have something that tastes decent. oh, and of course, report your findings!
  9. Sounds like BCBS varies state to state. There are also different types of plans. I have BCBS of Oregon Federal Employee Program. I am hopeful of for fast approval.
  10. i'll have to try that! way to make it through.

    First appointment

most likely as mentioned above. vitals, meet & greet, medical history, possible blood testing???? good luck
  13. I am beyond amazed by the quality of care and service that is being provided to me by my care team. My journey started less than a month ago when I met with a new PCP, got referred to a weight loss clinic. since then I have started making lifestyle changes that will help me succeed in the future. I have stopped drinking alcohol (a big deal for me) and carbonated drinks! I had my group intro meeting Tuesday and met with a nurse practitioner and a nutritionist today all regarding my weight loss journey. Good news is, aside from being obese, there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. good blood work, perfect EKG, etc. Next step for me is a sleep study. I have never had one and I am not really looking forward to it. Also have appointments with a psychiatrist and physical therapist. It seems that Legacy Weight Management Institute has a real wonderful program that seems well thought-out. They strive to specifically tailor each surgery to each patient for best possible success. I am not required to lose any weight prior to surgery and have just started a 3 month medically supervised diet as required by my insurance. This is getting me really pumped up. I know I haven't been on here in a while, but I have the weekend off and plan to read a bunch of information.

Wow so many NSV. They truly inspire me and make me so proud for all of you. I am halfway through reading all of these, and my hat is off to you all!
  21. So I just started the wls process. met with pcp who recommended me for wls. I still have months to go before a surgery date. These months will be filled with research on a to z of the wls world. I love spicy food. how do bodies handle spicy food after surgery? is it still possible? looking forward to your stories. Thanks!!!
  22. that will be something I will fight later. I would rather be lighter with some loose skin than morbidly obese.
