awesome! I'm sept 10. looking forward to it! wedding anniversary is the 14th (7th year)....

would love to share some thoughts, but not with all the female traffic in the male room. bariatric pal should change viewing preveileges. not sure how internet code works or if it is even possible. I know some claim that the get "confused" and don't realize that they are in the guys or gals room especially when they are on a mobile device. I guess my main awesome idea is to anyone posting a thread in the guys room should start it out like this: GUYS ROOM!!! GUYS ROOM!!! GUYS ROOM!!! GUYS ROOM!!! (there would be no excuses then) blah blah blah......... even in the thread title start it with "Guys Room: blah blah blah" personally I have never commented or deliberately visited the powder room out of sheer respect. hope we can get the same.

Bariatricpal scared me shitless
Rovobay replied to elpasovet's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
it is a risk/reward trade off. for me it was simple. die young because of obesity, or something weight related. continue on the same path, lower energy, laziness. OR, turn my life around and get fit, healthy, active. plenty of inspirations stuff on here. things so impressive they make my hair stand up. -
happy for you!!! congrats and great work. keep it up!

Mental vs. Physical Disconnect
Rovobay replied to matt1912's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I expect that it will take some mental rewiring that will occur naturally over time for that to kick in. I can see myself in that same type of situation. you basically gave birth to a petite woman over the last 4 months. pick up 2 50lb dumbbells and walk around with those for a bit. I bet it would be shocking. -
Freakin' sweet. very inspiring. short time too. way to go. can't wait to join that group too!!!!

How has your husband/wife/SO fared during your WLS journey?
Rovobay replied to MrsSugarbabe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So far so good. My wife have been supportive with my pre-op diet, asks a lot of questions too. She is currently pregnant, due in November and will have fun losing her baby weight along with me losing my weight. we will motivate each other. -
great work! good job on your life transformation. change your stats on your sidebar and ticker!!! did you get PS in US or travel somewhere? again, congrats!
-
best of luck to you. what is your pre-op diet like? I have a list of approved foods. mostly a high Protein, low carb, low calorie 3 week diet. day before surgery is all liquid. for example, yesterday I ate: Breakfast: Protein shake Mid morning snake: greek 100 yogurt Lunch: Thai chicken Larb with lettuce and 1/3 cup brown/white rice Afternoon snack: Asian pear, light string cheese Dinner: low carb tortilla with 3oz chicken, 1/3 cup black Beans, loads of fresh salsa

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) vs Gastric Bypass (GB)
Rovobay replied to docbree's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I found out I had GERD during my upper endoscopy. never felt bad, or heartburn.... on meds now. knowing this, the doc and I still concluded that sleeve was my best route. listen and discuss all the pros/cons with your dr. I'm sure you'll make the right decision.... I don't think my GERD is severe at all. I didn't want malabsorption, or dumping syndrome to be an issue too. -
yes, each program can be vastly different from others.

Wanted: September Sleevers!
Rovobay replied to Liberianne_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
September 10 here too. Oregon. -
What your look forward for?
Rovobay replied to Geraodette25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
energy, activity, self confidence, living a long life with my little children and wife, not being judged, not being the biggest person in the room all the time..... -
choosing not to tell anyone besides my wife. if surgery did come up in conversation I would say a hiatal hernia repair (don't have that....) when questioned about weight loss. you can say that you are on a strict medically supervised diet tailored to your needs. worried about health, making a change. working out, eating healthy.... I don't like to be the topic of conversation at all and hate gossip, so that is why I am telling no one.

Why can only 50-70% of excess weight be lost?
Rovobay replied to BarnGirlWK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are just covering themselves with realistic conservative numbers. I bet active members on this sight lose a lot more than that. being surrounded by such awesome success stories will keep you motivated.... -
Afraid to Give Up My Favorite Foods
Rovobay replied to jvslaw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
great answers here! couple of things I have heard that are keeping me motivated are: nothing tastes as good as skinny feels (okay.... not skinny, but healthy!) you see a lot of old people, you see a lot of fat people, but you don't see too many old fat people This tool that we get can help us achieve our goals. my program at my clinic does not want us to be deprived of those finer/favorite things, the key is moderation. all the stories and info on here will be your guiding light. -
who is your insurance provider. search on here and see how long it took some of them.... I was just approved last week. waited less than 48 hours!!! I hate waiting. I have BCBS Federal. hoping for the best for you!!!

Really screwed up... Please any help would be appreciated!
Rovobay replied to JenSul's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sounds mental more than anything.... I was going through this "last supper" syndrome. eating/drinking whatever, because my mind was telling me that after surgery you can't have that anymore.... hang in there. I know you can do it. good advice above too. -
September Sleevers!

Relationship issues after surgery
Rovobay replied to pinky4652's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
one of my fears too... think a lot comes from gain in self confidence and your partner starting to get self-conscious about their partner starting to become more confident and attractive. lots of emotions. -
Sounds like your questions are getting answered. good luck to you. my date is Sept. 10. saggy skin? heard some people recover well. depends on age and genetics. working out also helps to replace the area with muscle. I figure I'd rather have loose skin than be morbidly obese. hope you find some Protein that you like.

6 days post-op.... hang in there. hoping for the best for you. I've heard some people set their timer on their smartphones to go off every 15 minutes to remind them to drink an ounce of Water....
