seeds and nuts have been great for me. sunflower seeds are a nice slow snack in the mid morning for me at work. I think I should watch the sodium though....

Lost A Lot of Muscle...Working on getting it back!
Rovobay replied to BryBro63's topic in The Guys’ Room
no pain no gain! if you are sore afterwards and the next day you are doing something right! focus on those areas you want to improve. as for the moobs, bench press, incline and decline. Protein after a hard workout will aid in your recover and provide your muscles with the protein they need to repair and grow. protein should be had within an hour of working out. I mix my protein at the gym and drink it in the steam room immediately after the gym. -
Heading back to ER again, prayers please

Will I Ever Be Normal Again? I'm miserable! 12 days post op.
Rovobay replied to Sleeve101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope there has been some progress with your pain. has it gotten better since day 1? I am hopeful that you are over the hump and that in a week you feel several times better. what is your pain tolerance? drink slowly. I used a timer on my phone every 15 minutes to remind me to drink 1 ounce of liquid. do you have a 2 or 3 week post op doctors appointment? send their office a message with your concerns, they may want to see you. take care -
Protein is your major friend and necessity. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. start getting your body use to the gym and increased physical activity, it'll help after surgery. I bet you will see 20+ lbs in the first 2 weeks. let that motivate you to keep going. best of luck. cheers

sounds great. hardest part is walking through the doors to the gym. great time to start at the gym. take it easy for another few weeks. great work on your progress thus far!
-
Hope you find what you are looking for. best of luck. I found my motivation when I look at my 3 year old and newborn. I want to be there for them. take care.

I am almost 3 months out and down over 60 lbs. I am a 35yo male with around same height and weight to where you started. I am super happy with my results thus far. I have no regrets. does your insurance plan help cover the surgery costs? that is a huge factor for me. I couldn't afford it if I didn't have insurance. bipolar and meds would be my biggest concern. talk to a surgeon about that. I had a VSG and have read a lot and don't know of many instances of people getting revised to a DS down the road. Welcome to the site, please read a ton like I did, you will find so many helpful people...

December 31 Day Green Smoothie Challenge
Rovobay replied to Sweet Pee's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
gotta figure in Protein to make it happen. Thanks. joined up with you!!! -
my doc said no caffeine for a month. I made it to that month just fine. after that I just drink 6oz of caffeine on work days and that is all. Had to sleep at work last night, didn't get off until 12:45 in the morning and had to be back at 6:30 so I just bought a double espresso and poured it into a premier Protein vanilla shake (damn good). I feel that I need that little pick me up after these long nights. I also have a 3 week old boy at home too so sleep has been in very short order... best wishes.

Do you tell people you had Weight Loss Surgery?
Rovobay replied to nolongerhere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't tell a soul besides my wife. I am happy with that decision as I don't like to talk about myself and having to explain surgery to the uneducated and skeptics would be more than I would like. -
255 today.... first turkey day that we have hosted. 10 family members. too much food. I made my first turkey and it was the moistest turkey I have ever tasted. I put it in a brine the day before, then grilled it. yummy leftovers all week!!!

257... haven't been in the 250's in over 10 years!!!

How many incisions (holes) did you have?

Hang in there. The first week is not the best, but fast forward a few weeks when you are 10, 20, 30, or more pounds lighter.... it all becomes worth it. I am 9 weeks out and down 61lbs from my high weight and 45 since surgery! feel like a new man
-
monster week for me. 260. my son is 8 days old today and last week there was a lot of long nights and running around.
-
congrats on your surgery. I remember sneezing about 6 days out and thought I was going to die. sneezing and coughing are not fun. I went to a follow up and had no issues from the doc. took about 6 weeks until I didn't feel any pain in my stomach.
-
hey there all. Sorry I missed reporting the first weigh-in. My wife gave birth to our second child, a healthy baby boy on Nov 6. My first weigh-in on the 7th was 268. I will set my goal at 248. Thanks for setting this challenge up!!!

GUYS ROOM Hey, that is amazing. I am over half way there. I can't wait. Please pass on your tips and tricks. I seem to be losing 3lbs per week right now and hitting the gym hard. nearly 1000 calories daily with 90+ grams of Protein. congrats to you

I was told I had surgery to get attention
Rovobay replied to pinkbunies's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sounds like you got a lot of sh!t going on right now. marital, family, school. hope it all works itself out in the end. -
everyone is greatly different. some gain weight because of the IV fluids which set them back a little. I believe I was down about 15lbs at 2 weeks, but I repeat, everyone is different. don't base others results on your success....
