I'm looking for a group of people who will be having sleeve surgery in the next 2-3 weeks to share the journey with! I just turned 30 last month, and I am really looking forward to this huge life change. I'm 5'7 and currently at 294 (down from 332 when I first visited my surgeon 2 months ago). I'm just ready to feel better, and have more energy to be a more lively mom to my 9 year old nephew!

Hang in there! I am 5 months post op, and just got through a 3 week stall. I Cut my calories back to 750, made sure I'm getting the right amount of everything, and avoiding all bad carbs. I'm managed to lose 12 pounds in the last two weeks! Just mix it up, and hang in there!

Great job on the 25 pounds! I'm down 26 since surgery. I stalled for almost 2 whole weeks, but this week the scale is moving again! For me, I really focused on getting more calories in. And healthy fats. For the last week I've been eating between 700-800 calories and always about 80 grams of protein. I have been getting my healthy fat by eating 1 tablespoon of creamy Simply Jif peanut butter each day. I literally think about it all day! For exercise, I started the C25K program. I am one week down and loving it! I hadn't run in any capacity for about 15 years, and asides from being a little sore, I'm totally rocking it! I really recommend it for anyone looking to start running. Keep up the great work everyone!!! -

Hey everyone! Just wondering how everyone is doing? I'm doing pretty good. I think my stall is finally ending - I'm starting to pick up my pace on weight loss again. Just wondering what everyone is doing for exercise? I've been walking, and starting to mix in some running (very slowly . I'd love to hear how you all are doing! -

Just wondering how everyone did over the holiday weekend? I'm still in a stall, and I'd love to compare notes. I have been eating between 650-750 calories with 80 grams of Protein and 64 oz if Water each day. And the scale has moved by about 2 pounds in 2 weeks. Asides from Protein drinks, I eat 2% cottage cheese, refried Beans with a TINY bit of cheese and sour cream, an occasional 1/2 Chobani, and occasional unsweetened applesauce. I feel like I'm getting NOWHERE! -
My nephew takes melatonin, and he always just let's the tablet dissolve in his mouth. It actually dissolves really quickly, and he says there is no taste. It might depend on the brand though. My surgeons office totally okayed the benedryl, and it totally cured my inability to fall asleep!

I take 2 teaspoons of children's liquid benadryl and it knocks me right out

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! I'm excited that my incisions are all fully closed and the glue/scabs have fallen off. No pulling or soreness at all really. I've been able to go back to sleeping on my stomach, and it's amazing! I was on a mini stall (no loss for 3 days), but I just weighed this morning and I am down 2 pounds. I think I was able to break the stall by increasing my calories and cutting back on walking for two days. It seems totally contradictory, but I know I wasn't getting enough calories! I have 99 pounds to go until my reach goal and 79 for my surgeons goal -

I hear ya! I'm on a two day stall right now. It actually says I went up half a pound, which as you all know, we are only eating enough to sustain a small lizard, so I know it's not from over eating! How many calories is everyone eating? I think I'm too low. Looking to compare notes! I'm super struggling to get above 600. -

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! Im not sure how, but I'm 18 pounds down since surgery. I have a ton to lose, so I'm sure that's why the number is up there. Highest Weight: 332 (in March at my first appointment with the surgeon) Surgery Weight: 285 (June 9th) Current Weight: 267 Goal Weight: 165 (my doctor's goal is 185) I know this pace won't keep up, but for now, I AM SO EXCITED! Today is my first day of puréed foods! Bring on the cottage cheese! -

I had my post-op appointment today at the surgeons office. Everything is going great! They said my incisions looked great. I asked them quite a few questions, and I thought I would share there thoughts. Sodium - I was worried about how closely I should watch it. Broth really packs in the sodium (even the reduced sodium kind so I was a little worried!). They told me not to worry about it right now since I am having such few calories. Biotin - she said that some people see that it yeps with hair loss and that it doesn't really do much for others. She said that there make dissolvable biotin that I can start taking morning and night if I want to. Exercise - I'm an over-doer, so I was really worried that my daily walk totals have been between 2-4 miles. I still am having pain in my big incision, and I wanted to make sure that I wasn't delaying my healing. They said that there is basically no way to walk too much. As long as I wasn't pushing or pulling weight that I was fine. Yay! Also, she said that I could do any exercises I want starting at 6 weeks (all restrictions are off then). I can't wait to start my C25K program! Diet - I've been having the same diet for the last 6 days and I wanted to make sure that was okay. She said I was completely fine doing that right now. I am on full liquids until next Tuesday, so I plan on continuing 3 shakes plus a cup of broth with added protein until then! Starting next Monday, I switch to pureed foods, where my calorie intake should increase to around 800. Basically, I will have to keep taking in all of the protein drinks I currently am, but I need to start adding in the extra calories from the pureed veggies/cottage cheese that I'll be consuming. I have to do pureed foods for a solid month. After that, I can switch to soft normal foods and onto completely normal foods as my stomach allows. The main message is ONLY 5 MORE DAYS UNTIL I CAN EAT COTTAGE CHEESE! Yay! -

Thanks Jealbaroma! The pre-op weight loss was over a 2 month period. I'm happy about it, but I was concerned that I had almost hit a plateau. Hopefully that is not the case! You should try the Gas-X strips, I think they literally help the gas go away (not just out quicker)! How awesome is it that all of your pain is already gone?! I still have one incision that is giving me a hard time (less the incision, and more the muscle around it). I literally can't wait to have no pain when I sit up or sit down! It's so nice to have everyone on here for support! No one else really understands what why we're stressing about this or happy about that. I hope everyone is doing great out there!! It's been kind of quiet today! -

Sounds like you should be a little worried! I'm surprised that they let you leave the hospital without a bm. Did your doctor talk about any constipation meds that work work for your tummy? I would totally call the answering service for your surgeons office! That's what it's there for. The longer you wait, the worse it is going to feel! I hope you feel better soon!! -

Thanks Jealbaroma! It's feels like a new beginning Sorry to hear that gas has been so bad for you! Mine has been pretty minimal. Mainly, I seem to notice in the night. To be honest, I think it's because I can hear all of the weird noises that my stomach and intestines probably have been making all day! Have you tried the gas-x strips? They seem to help me (even if it's just a placebo effect Bloating: so much of it! I managed to lose 48 lbs on a pre-op diet, and it literally looks like I have it all back on! I'm secretly hoping that it means, that once I lose all of the water weight that I'll be like 20 pounds lighter even though I KNOW that there is no way I still have that much water left in me. Pretty much my entire massive stomach is swollen. You should consider yourself super lucky that it's just your lower abdomen! Have you been able to get much exercise in yet? Any major pain? I'd love to hear how you're doing! -

So today the scale finally moved! I was down 3.8 pounds than yesterday. I still am quite swollen from surgery, but I'm starting to get excited! Also, I think I realized that the headaches that I have been waking up with in the morning are caused by the position I'm sleeping in. At about 2 am last night I woke up with a headache starting again. I added more neck support with a pillow. To be safe, I also took 2 gas-x strips, and I went back to bed. I finally woke up headache-free! Pretty much, having a great day all-around! -

I have definitely had a lot if gas pain, but I've also been lucky in being able to get in all my water without a problem and have had no cravings. How are you getting protein in out if curiosity? I was told only clear liquids first week. I am also having headaches that wake me up in the middle of the night :-(. They seem to be gone though by the time I wake up in the morning. I have also had a few bloody noses. I guess when they give you oxygen it can cause that. I'm trying not to blow my nose too much and let it heal a little bit in there, but it's hard when you're congested. I'm not sure how I would be getting gin all of the protein if I were on a clear liquid diet! They moved me onto full liquids by day 3 in the hospital (they had to make sure that they agreed with me before I was allowed to leave!). I actually ended my first day at home getting 80 (!) grams of protein and I'm hoping for the same today. Here is the trick for me: 3 Protein drinks a day: 5/8 cup of unsweetened almond milk 1 scoop of chocolate splendor unjury protein powder 1 Tablespoon of PB2 (the original kind, not the chocolate kind) Add 3-4 small ice cubes and blend it in my nutribullet. It's super thin, tastes like a peanut putter cup, and more importantly each one is only a little more than a 1/2 cup of liquid and contains 24 grams of protein. Basically, I just had 3 of these and then for a 4th meal, I had a cup of low sodium swanson chicken broth PLUS 1/4 scoop of chicken Soup flavored Unjury powder to get the extra protein while still having a good taste. I'm thinking if I can keep this up for a week or so my stomach should be in pretty good shape around the time the food cravings start back up for "normal" food. -

It's weird how different everybody feels. I've had absolutely no shoulder gas pain, and I have no hunger cravings or pain. I still am a little heavier than when I went in (by about 2 pounds), but I am still SUPER swollen. Like it looks like I gained 20 pounds in my stomach. Today is my first full day home, and I'm doing good. I've went on two separate 8-block walks, drank 52 grams of protein and 32 oz of water. Not too bad! Anyone else having issues with headaches? I have woken up with a BAD one the last 3 days. I'm praying that tomorrow morning will be different! Any ideas on how to relieve them? -

So I'm feeling great! No noticeable gas pain, no stomach pain when I'm just laying here, only one incision is bothering me, and the nurse says it's the one that's pretty bruised up. I was able to get up and walk 20 laps around the floor. Hoping to get my leak test soon so I can get something to drink!! -
