Alberta girl question: Why go to Mexico?
hollym123 replied to Meltzy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was actually told that there was a 5 year wait in alberta and I wouldn't qualify because I wasn't obese enough. I want/need to lose 80lbs. I went to Mexico with ALM and have not looked back. My $4400 could not have been better spent and I really happy with my decision. My doctor like Juba was super supportive and got all the info to tell his other patients that were in the same boat as me. I wanted to get my surgery done as by next year I want to have breast reconstruction after having had cancer. I'm not willing to wait any longer to move on with my life. 5 years is a very long time when you are ready. I'm really happy for everyone who gets the operation covered by AB health care but sadly I wouldn't have been one of them. In the end those of us that go to Mexico have our minds made up that we are not waiting to move on with our lives. I know I am thrilled with my decision. -
3MONTH ROLL CALL...HOW MUCH ARE YOU DOWN
hollym123 replied to Rebellious Butterfly's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so happy to see some people losing at my rate! I'm down 30 and was feeling that |I had screwed this up when I saw that most people were down 50ish lbs. I know everyone is individual but we all think we have done something wrong when we see others losing faster. We will get there too! Lets keep on going Janey and fat free! -
11 days postop, not feelin so hot
hollym123 replied to tangerinetrees's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I felt terrible too. I questionned what I had done and thought I would lose it if I looked at another bowl of broth. You will get through it. I am nearly three months out and feel fine now although I wish I was losing faster. I cant do any exercise right yet as I had a really bad accident on July 1st and have to wait to mid september before I can get back to really activity or weights ect. I was losing really quickly before the accident and now really slowly. But still losing. Hang in there it will get better and it is the best thing you have ever done for yourself! -
I went back to work three days after surgery and felt fine but I have a desk job. My problem was trying to get enough food and liquids in. Otherwise I felt exactly the same as before.

I still get hiccups and I had my operation on May 16. For me it's my tell that I've had enough and to stop eating.

Husband says No to me having surgery!
hollym123 replied to Mich4351's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband was against it too. I told him I was 48yrs old and could make my own decisions. I told him I had researched it and true there are risks but I was getting fatter and fatter and didn't want to be diabetic or have high blood pressure or any of the other obesity related diseases. I told him I had felt bad enough about myself for a long time and I was finally taking charge of my life and he could either come with me to Mexico to have the surgery or he could stay home but either way I was going. He chose to come with. I did it and I haven't looked back. I had the procedure on May 16th and have lost 28lbs so far. I know people who have lost more and some who have lost less. I think I'm average. But I'm losing and feel great. It was hard at first and it's not a quick fix by any means, but as long as we presevere we can do it! -

Hi guys, I am two months out from my sleeve. Had it on May 16th. Things were going great. Down 28lbs. Then I had a major accident and had to have emergency surgery. Had pins and plates put in my right arm (I'm right handed). then 3 weeks at home unable to do anything. I was bored and didn't eat exactly right but kept on track...I thought....Now back at work and am absolutely starving! I still can be as active as I would like. Doctor has said to wait for most activity (I had started running and I horseback ride). Think I'm eating too much. I have hit a stall and didnt' lose anything this week. I had my surgery with A lighter me in Tijuanna and didn't really get too much support info for this point. Can anyone tell me how much I should be eating and how much wieght loss weekly I can expect at this point. Thanks...I don't want to screw this up. I'm so afraid of ruining it and not losing weight.

thank you all for your support. I know probably everyone one of us has the same fear of screwing this up. It helps to know \i'm not alone. I am still on track...I will do this! Thank you all!

Canada to Mexico for WLS
hollym123 replied to Klg1985's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi! Yes I did as well. I travelled and had my surgery with at lighter me in Tijaunna on May 16. Service with them was great. Everyone was so nice. It was worth it too. I would recommend them to anyone. Dr. Ellias Ortiz did my surgery and it went great. -
I just had my sleeve done on May 16 in Tijauana. I'm from Calgary Alberta. Anyone else out there from alberta?

Sleeved yesterday please help!
hollym123 replied to Carissajo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Okay, Gas X strips do not work for this type of gas. The surgeon explained to me that the carbon monoxide gives you the gas and the pain is when it is in your diaphram. I actually did deep breaths (like natural child birth breathing) and that helped me alot! When I talked to the doctor he said that the breathing would help the best and thats why they want you up and walking so that your breathe more and the gas will exit. -
Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC
hollym123 replied to Kindle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had Dr Elias Ortiz on the 16th of may too. The whole group of health care professionals were great. Dr Morales does most of the talking but all are great. the nurses were very gentle and attentative. Over all it was a very positive experience. I feel great. I have no acid reflux either. A light me rocks. all involved provided excellent care. -

My surgery is on the 17th. I'm so excited and scared. The whole "what if it doesn't work for me". Actually petrified!
