Hello again fellow bandsters I am a little worried about something and thought I'd ask the group. In reading through all these posts, and many more it seems like I have gone through a completely different process and I'd like your thoughts. I weight 180 and want to get to 120 or 130. My BMI is 33. I have never met my doctor - I had a twenty minute conversation with him on the phone. I had a five minute conversation with the RN. He has a great reputation here (Toronto) but I find it odd that the first time I'll meet him will be the day of surgery which is April 1st. I have received my liquid stuff and start it this coming Wed., I also have to do blood work, ECG and have my family doctor fill out forms. The cost in Ontario is $16,000 - our health care system only pays for certain folks and I do not come close to qualifying - it is very difficult to quality here. Do any of you think this is odd that I haven't actually met the doctor in person? I suppose if you are flying to your surgery you wouldn't necessarily have met either. Perhaps I am just paranoid? Enjoy your Saturday - I am having a dinner party with lots of goodies - figure I'd go out in style.

Hi everyone Nice to 'meet' you all and it will be nice chatting with folks going through the same exciting and sometimes scary times. I am being banded on April 1st just east of Toronto. I have not yet received any information, I am hoping it comes tomorrow. I just booked last week, but in Canada it is very difficult to get insurance to pay - typically it is a self pay procedure of $16,000:w00t: but.....well worth it and I won't have to pay the other thousands I've been paying for other diets that I don't stick with

Hello Mullderfamily 4 Congrats. I have been thinking about doing this for over a year. My BMI is 33 and at first I was turned down because I didn't need to lose enough. However, I have recently gained even more weight and feel out of control. I called again and viola!! Booked for April 1st. I do not know when I start the liquid thing - I have not yet received anything specific except the date of surgery but I am hoping it arrives any day now. How much time are you planning on taking off work (if you work that is?)
