Anyone having surgery in May
loveslavender replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so know what you mean. I saw the other comments about dumping and feeling almost like a low/high blood sugar attack. Those scare me. My husband had an RNY in 2001 and he become hypoglycemic after his surgery. Anything like sugar, orange juice, syrup, honey, etc makes his blood sugar drop. Weird huh? First time he had an attack I rushed him to the ER. All the hospital did is made him eat a cheeseburger and fries. I told him he better love that $1000.00 lunch plate. I know it was serious but would have made sense to tell me to him something to eat since I called them first. I'm laughing on the inside you are a hoot!!!! I would feel the same way LOL -

Liquid Diet Problem
loveslavender replied to kmamaward's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dear kmammaward, Don't beat yourself up I did the same thing I think I was sabotaging myself out of fear but after finishing the nutrition classes and talking with the girls in class I really did feel I was not alone. We were allowed 2 Protein drinks a day and small piece of chicken or fish and veg I ate my big meal at lunch because that is when I was the hungriest. There is a great walking video on you tube. enjoy what you eat now because trust me you will wish you could get 15cc's of Water down every 15min post op. I also had my own bible verse I kept repeating The Lord your God is with you. We all had our reasons for how we got where we are but for me my body could not take it any longer and finally I could afford to something about it at 54. So please get back up because you can do this for YOU. Kelly -

Hi Girls, First Thank you Jolene, Rome, Nicholej, Taking a leap, I'm jealous Jolene I just can't seem to get all my fluids with the little smooth food I take in along with all our Vitamins, meds (must never forget my prilosec and gas X first thing)etc. I'm constantly bloated. I try to walk it off so I can sip more but go back to being bloated and full. Nicholej I will be your buddy if you need one still. Love you all for your Kindness Kelly -

Anyone having surgery in May
loveslavender replied to Cupcake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Everyone, I had my gastric sleeve done on May 7th. I too also cleaned the house good, gave the dog a bath etc. With the Lord watching over me I did great with a few bumps. I bought premier liquid shakes because they were already made and bought them at Costco you can also get the powder form in a HUGE bag for 40.00. I bought sugar free chocolate pudding, Mott's green apple applesauce. Campbell's has an awesome butternut squash soup. I loved Swanson's chicken broth I went to stage 2 a day after surgery because I didn't do well on the 1st phase. I have protein drink for breakfast, instant cream of wheat alternating apple sauce, pudding and soup for lunch and dinner I'm lucky to do 2 1/4 tsp. I use the pudding to take meds it slides down easier. The one thing I miss the most is drinking as much fluid as you want at one time. For further down the road has anyone tried making ice cream out of protein shakes. This might be a TMI but baby wipes for cleaning your bum is a blessing. Get the flushable ones. God Bless Kelly -
