Question about Carb intake before exercise w/trainer
Gettinfit replied to bigloser2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had this same problem. While food shopping and other normal activities I would suddenly feel lightheaded and my mouth felt like a desert! My doctor told me to eat carbs....the good carbs. Whole grain bread and whole grain Pasta are my go to carbs. He also said cream of wheat was ok. Your body needs glucose. A quick fix is O.J. if you are in a jam but would not be a good daily choice. Hope this helps -
Hello fellow sleevers! Just curious what everyone's average weight loss has been. I was sleeved on May 23rd and I'm down 12 lbs. I haven't lost anything in a week! Ugh.... is this what they call a stall? I know weight loss will vary depending on individual BMI etc... Getting frustrated

I learned my lesson the hard way with carb intake. I too thought they were evil and steered clear of whole grain bread and whole grain pasta .....big NO NO! Two weeks out I started having episodes where I had a fading feeling, dizzy and sweaty. Turns out due to my NO CARB diet I became hypoglycemic. Wow and here I was worried about diabetes as it runs in my family. A glass of orange juice later I felt like me again. I now make sure I have a carb a day and have felt great. I was so concerned with getting in all of the protein and didn't pay attention to a balanced diet. Trial and error I guess but feeling great today 3 1/2 wks out

Ok the typical Protein drink is 8-12 oz's. I was terrified that my new tiny stomach would not be able to fit all of that plus Water etc.. I spoke with the nurse at my Doctor's office and she told me about this fairly new Protein Drink. NEW WHEY- not a shake but a fruit drink that comes in a variety of fruit flavors such as berry, watermelon and grape. Only 3.8 oz's and packs a mean 42 grams of protein! I add an ice cube because its a little too sweet for me straight. No problems getting that small volume in me once or twice a day. Sold at Walmart or order on Amazon. Hope this helps some of you as it has done wonders for me

Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Hi Shav. The nurse at my Dr.s office told me to try New whey. 3.8 oz with 42 grams of protein! Here's the thing.....I posted that on this site because I thought it was so great especially post surgery when our stomachs are so small and for some it is really difficult to get the in but......I got some feedback saying that it didn't consist of enough amino acids etc..One person said that their Dr. ok'd it for the first week. I'll be speaking with my NUT about this drink. You may want to do the same. It's such a small amount with a huge shot of protein I hope its not too good to be true . Hope this helps! -
Great Protein Drink!

Wow really???? I haven't heard anything about this before! That's something I will definitely bring up to my Dr. and NUT for sure. I'll let you all know what they say -
Someone noticed my weight loss at work and i felt humiliated
Gettinfit replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no shame in my game! lol I've been telling everyone and anyone that will listen about my then upcoming procedure. I'm happy to have had the guts to get it done as should you! Be proud you were proactive. I'm looking forward to lower BP, lower liver enzymes and no more sounding like a chainsaw when I sleep(so I've been told ). If you truly don't want anyone to know then don't tell them. You owe them nothing. If you are comfortable you can tell them about your new eating habits and workouts. They don't have to know about the surgery end of it. Good luck you will figure out the best way for you to deal with this. -
Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Every surgeon is different, but mine said I could have purees after 4 days, even thicker ones. When I was in the hospital, they gave me mashed potatoes. I'm gonna try some hummus in a few minutes and see how that goes. WhoKnows I was sleeved on Friday May 23rd was on 4 oz of liquid per hour for two days and Snday the 25th I was allowed 8 oz per hour of a full liquid diet(Clear liquids plus 98% FF cream Soups and tomato soups). One week follow up moved up to puree for 4 days then tender foods such a chicken and fish. That is what I'm allowed to eat now but I'm not because I feel I should give my stomach at least two weeks to heal up. I will begin that this Saturday. Another 4 days after that I'm allowed to eat regular foods. Seems to be moving a little fast!??? -
Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Add me too please!! My DOS was May 23rd and my weight was 218. Today I'm 212. for thecpast few days I've been losing a pound a day, however, I'm just waiting for that darn STALL to begin Remaining positive for now. I'm as active as I can be considering I'm just under 2 wks out and still a little sore. This girl surely isn't tryin' to tear anything either. Taking it easy or so long is frustrating! Who would have thought R&R could be this difficult lol -

Oh my gosh NewTee, my stomach sounded like there was a rabid animal in it at about day 5. I was getting nervous worried that I was leaking or something lol Wasn't given a heads up on this by my Dr. ! -
What do you do instead of "Going out to dinner"?
Gettinfit replied to Writerjennifer's topic in The Lounge
Funny I'm 13 days out and my fiancée and I are trying to plan outings as well. Its tough because we too centered our lives around food and drinks. good times no doubt, watching NFL,NHL and NLB games! I wont cut that out but revise those outings. Better food choices and not so many drinks! We live ten minutes from the beach and bay and have been talking about a healthier lifestyle like canoeing, kayaking, waterboarding, bicycling etc... Thanks for some more great ideas everyone! Much appreciated! -
I was weeping like a baby 5 days out! My fiancé was making burgers and they smelled so good. I was upset because I was still on liquids. I began to second guess myself wondering if I made the right decision getting sleeved. It's like going through a break-up but with food rather than a person. I felt like I was getting mind-effed everyday(excuse my language but its true!). II tried to prepare myself for this life change but I don't think you can really truly be prepared until the day comes when you physically can't eat what you want when you want it! It helped my spirits tremendously when I was moved up to pureed food so keep your chin up!! There is a light at the end of the tunnel And as many others have said, getting out is truly helpful as well!

Swimming after wls
Gettinfit replied to sleeved215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have to agree with fluff about the pulling and pressure, sleeved. Totally makes sense. Probably not worth the risk. Would hate for something terrible to happen! -
my2 mine is the 23rd too! I start a one week low fat liquid diet this Friday. 100% fruit juice, skim k, sugar free pops, sugar free Jello , Protein shakes and low fat chicken cream Soup and tomato soup ugh.... Right this second I'm scared but in an hour or two I'll probably be excited again. too have been flip flopping back and forth emotionally. So happy to see others feel the same. Its a huge life changer! Just have to keep telling myself its only food and I will be much healthier. Easier said right lol

New whey has 42 grams of Protein and is less than 4 oz. The nu at my doctor's office just told me about it today. This product wasn't one of the suggested brands in my information packet as it is a new product and my packet was typed up and reprinted for the past 3+ yrs. She also told me that you can add ice or Water to it if its too sweet and it will still be less volume than the shakes. Not a big deal pre-op but from what I hear post-op its quite a chore to get the protein down due to the new tiny stomach Just thought I would forward my newly found info!hope it helps.

Hello ladies. I bought Biotin but have not began to take it yet. Not sure if I should start now or wait for the hair loss to begin??? I too have very thin hair already and cant afford to lose a single stand lol. BK double check your Biotin bottle if you could. I'm curious if your dose is actually 2500mcg rather than mg. Mine reads 5000mcg which is equal to 5mg. Just wanted to know if I should consider taking more when its time???
