Where are all the Michigan people at??
Kimmi replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, I went to my first post op on November 9th and had lost 14.5# I go back on the 6th for possibly my first fill. How has everyone been? Life's been rather busy and I haven't had a chance to visit on here in a couple weeks. -
Hi all-- I'm new to this site. I have mostly been reading others' posts. Today I go for pre-admission testing appointments. If all goes well my surgery is scheduled for 10/22. I'm nervous and excited all at once. I've been feeling rather stressed these last few days about a number of things and I'm sure that isn't helping my mindset right now. I guess I just need some reassurance that I can get through this and I'm not alone on the journey. I'm wondering how my age (41) is going to have an impact on this. I've been overweight since I was about 10 years old. It has been a roller coaster and that's kind of how I feel emotionally right now.

Hey Kim, Here's a big post surgery hug going out to you! How did it go? I hope all went well and each day you are feeling better and better! Kimmi -
Congrats Dee-Jay!!!! :clap2::whoo: It must have felt great to have someone notice your losing! I don't have an official loss amount yet. I go back for my first post-op visit next week to have my incisions checked. I'm sure they will do a weight check too.

Hi Julia-- I'm glad your surgery went well and without much pain. The gargling with warm salt water and drinking warm liquids really helped with my throat; maybe it would help yours feel better too. I went in on the upside of that balance as well, but wasn't on a liquid diet prior too surgery. I'm feeling pretty good for the most part--a little tenderness when bending down or stretching and getting up 1st thing in the morning. Each day has been a little easier. I go back to work tomorrow--hopefully all goes well! -

Kim-- I noticed too how different dr.s require different things. Like some people had to be on a liquid fast weeks prior to surgery. That wasn't the case with mine. Post surgery from my dr. is Day 1-3 clear liquids; Day 4-7 Full liquids (like milk and creamed soup etc.); Week 2 is mushie baby food consistency stuff; Week 3 begin introducing regular foods small quantities, and chew, chew, chew, chew, chew, chew and chew some more. -

I hope it does get better each day. It doesn't hurt my throat or my stomach to drink. I'm glad of that. I had a protein shake today--that was good! The new slimfast ones that are made for low carb diets have 20 g of protein! I had a chocolate one. -

Hi Kim-- I'm feeling better yet today. Still working on getting in enough liquids. The popsicles do help. -

I'm glad you're on the road to a new you! I was just banded on Monday (10/22) I have B/C too. If you don't mind my asking, what is their reasoning for not authorizing your surgery? -

Thanks demsvmejm that's what the dr. said too. I was just so scared. That uvulitis I had before scared me. The uvula swelled up so much. It kept feeling like you had to cough out something stuck in your throat and just wouldn't go away. I ended up getting a shot of antibiotic then. I tried some sugar free popsicles! The strawberry kiwi was very tasty! -

Tonks: Thanks for your support it really means a lot! PS Did you choose your screen name because your a Harry Potter Fan? Just curious.

Dee-jay Thanks again for being so supportive! I felt kind of dumb calling the doctor, but like you said I'm not sure what I'm suppose to feel. Today is better than yesterday was. Getting up and down is getting easier. I took just some liquid tylenol today when the muscles in my back seemed sore. I thought maybe I over did it a bit because I felt better earlier. I guess I just need to remember one day at a time.

I'm home. I'm sore. But am trying to get up and move around after I've been sitting a while. Nervous about drinking too much too fast, but have not been drinking enough. I don't want to get dehydrated either. Got scared last night woke up and my mouth was dry so I brushed my teeth and my uvula (the dangly thing in your throat) was swollen. It was almost like one time when I had uvulitis. I felt dumb but I called the doctor. He said to try drink something warm. I gargled with salt water and drank something warm. It feels better, but now I'm really nervous. I might call my Physician Assistant and see if she thinks she should look at it. Thanks for listening everyone--you're part of my lifeline. -
Excuse my type-o's I meant too not two.

Hi Dee-Jay and All My fellow Bandsters out there: I'm home. I'm sore, but doing ok. Got a little scared last night and called the doctor. My uvula (the dangly thing in your throat) swelled up some like when I had uvulitis one time. He said to drink something warm. I did that and gargled with salt water too. It seems a little better now. I'm still nervous about it. I think I might call the Physician Assistant I just started seeing and ask if I should have it looked at. Dee-jay I'm a big baby when it comes to pain two. I try and tough it out best I can. I'm trying to remember to get up and walk around and not sit for too long. Getting in enough liquids is kind of a challenge right now. I'm worried about drinking too much too fast and end up not drinking enough. I've got to be on clear liquids yet today and can start full liquids tomorrow. Thanks for being there for me everyone! I really appreciate you all.

Thank you all. I've got a week to go and that nervousness is really starting to set in. Reading all your posts and encouragement helps. Some of the posts I read add to the nervousness but others really help. I'm sure this week will be a crazy and emotional one.
