My insurance didn't cover it. I bit the bullet and paid for it on CareCredit. My surgery was $14,500 + labs. I want to say it was approximately a total of $20k. My surgery was in San Antonio, Tx. I'm 6 months out and happy I did it. I'm down 91#s and have a long way to go, but it is well worth it. In January I could barely walk and now I'm enjoying my stroll through the park. This is about you and if you can afford it, do it! You are worth every penny!

post op time off from work
belovedwar replied to time for june's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was back to work after 3.5 weeks. I didn't want to go back until I had my first solid/soft meal experience. During my first week back, I did get sick and had to leave work. It took everything out of me. Just because it's an office job doesn't mean it will be easy. If you are back at work, people will think you are physically and mentally ready to handle the stress and the demands of your job. If you can afford to take a little more time, do it. I was out of leave, so I didn't have much of a choice. Good Luck! -
Newly sleeved...anyone have issues with slow heart rate?

Are you on any BP medicine? I take Bystolic for BP and that is one of the side affects. -
Is this real? Or am I just overly sensitive about WLS?
belovedwar replied to Mrs. Reid's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sure it's a combination of things, her own personal issues at home. She probably really wants to be supportive but feels awkward about her own weight gain. I think you need to have a heart to heart so it doesn't have more of an affect on your friendship. I had to tell someone, if you can't be supportive then just keep your mouth shut, she may be doing that(?) -
Congratulations! My experience went pretty smooth, but when I got home, I could not find a comfortable sleeping position. I ended up buying a recliner and it definitely helped. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow! Good luck!

I was 7 pounds away from the 100 #mark, now I'm 9 pounds away! I have officially started to panic. I'm attending a conference this weekend in hopes of getting back my motivation back! I just had to let it out! Not sure my family & friends could understand. I just so afraid of gaining the weight back I have a hard time enjoying my small accomplishments!

I'm not going to lie, it is scary,. You are changing your insides physically, and your relationship with food, family, and friends will change as well! . That is enough reason to be scared. Be strong, I'm sure you have done your research. Keep you in my thoughts & prayers!

Good luck on Monday. Will say a little prayer for you. Hope you have minimal discomfort!

Post Op Blues?
belovedwar replied to mellytoon0908's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's been 4 + months, i never realized how many food commercials there were on tv until post op. it was depressing that I broke up with the one constant in my life Food! Happy/sad it was always there. I still miss my old relationship with food, I have had a bite of a chocolate chip cookie, a sip of a cold beer, and 3 M&Ms, (not at the same time) it was enough to say I remember you and I savored those three splurges but my fear of getting sick was enough to keep me from having more. I also think about how my life has changed since April, I'm down 80#s since pre-op diet started on 4/2/14. My planters fasciitis doesn't hurt like it use to, I was on a plane this week and didn't need a seat belt extender. Don't get me wrong I still miss my food relationship but my quality of life has definitely improved! My fear is where will I be in 5 years? I can't seem to enjoy my recent successes for the fear of tomorrow's failure! -
Hair lost anybody out there?
belovedwar replied to Sassy in pink's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Omg! I knew it was a side affect, but I was not mentally prepared for it, I have started to take a supplement that the Dr. Recommended, it name is "It Works! hair skin nails". One of my fellow sleevelers said it has worked for her, as far as stopping the hair loss. I've only been on it 2.5 weeks I'll post again in a few weeks. -
I tried mineral oil, it was not a pleasant taste but it worked !

Congratulations on your decision! I had mine 4/21/14 and between pre-op diet to now, I'm down 78 #s & am more mobile than I've been in years ! I hope your journey goes well!
