    Hi everyone,
I live in St. Louis, 55/270 area. Would love to meet you ladies. Maybe we could meet at St Louis bread Company (great Soups and salads) in the middle.
I had my surgery at My New Self with Dr Minkin on March 19, 2014. So far I've lost a fourth grader, 62.5 pounds. LOL

Surgeon will let you know...if it's laparoscopic it won't be long after surgery. Also, no driving while on pain meds were my post op orders. I wasn't in a lot of pain do I was driving soon after I got home.

That is what I have my fitness pal set on. Last few days I have not stayed within those parameters. Nothing specific and each day the macros have been different. Prior to that I was sticking to what I set my fitness pal to, but my carb Intake was more line 20/30 per day. Eating low carb not doing a damn thing for me...

I was sleeved the same day as you... Also was in a stall... Sucked the scale kept going back and forth 1 pound and this morning I lost 3.6 pounds... Didn't believe it at first and probably won't until I weigh myself in the AM. I'm not sure what changed but prior to the last few days I was eating pretty low carb and my calories were 7-900 cal. With the scale not moving I was like WTF!!! And then the doubt set in. I lost a fair amount of weight prior to the surgery on my three month supervised diet and I kept thinking why did I do this if was losing weight better the other way. What happened in the last 4 days is I relaxed and ate. Got my protein in and didn't completely restrict my carbs. Calorie intake was 9-1200 cal/day. Also even though I was getting in the min water requirements I did increase that. All I really know is the body is stubborn and it's going through a lot of changes and sometimes it just does not want to let go of the weight even though you know it should be. SO FRUSTRATING And it's ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANT TO SCREAM!!
My stats HW/ and first MD appoint FEB 6 360 lbs start of liquid diet 335 lbs SW 314 stall happened about 3 weeks out from surgery at 294 and fluctuated 294- 295lbs. Today 8/22 291lbs. I have been exercising 5-6 days a week! 30-45 mins cardio-- treadmill/elliptical/ walking with a friend and some light weight training.

Sleeved July 14th and I was 314 surgery day. I'm currently 294 but I've been stalled so I've been at 294 since last Monday. Kinda frustrating.... I have lost 65 lbs since I started this journey so maybe my body is like whoa wait a minute. Who knows?!?!?!

Did you call to see if they covered WLS. I don't have them, but when my insurance started covering it it was clearly stated in our benefits package with the maximum out of pocket with it. If they cover it then they generally use the guidelines set by the NIH/AMA guidelines that define who would benefit from WLS and that is a BMI > 35 with comorbidities like HTN, diabetes, OSA or a BMI > 40 without comorbidities.

I'm on my 5th week pos-op, hit the stall for 4 days and then my doctor encouraged me to go for solid food and eat more to lose more.
After 1 full day of a bit bigger portion of solid food, I dropped 1.32 lbs! Yay!

I started at 360 and am now at 295. I was wearing a 26. They are loose and I can fit into my 24, but it is true that the bigger the size your are the more weight you lose before you go down in size.

I work for a big hospital so when I requested FMLA for my surgery I had to call our leave administration office. I did have to tell them but they were faceless people. My manager did have to sign a paper that was part of the fmla but it didn't say what I was having. As far as after surgery... My leave was for 6weeks,(I'm a nurse in a busy NICU so my job is demanding) but I'm a little over two weeks out and I feel great!! I have not had any complications and minimal pain.

vanessak8 got a reaction from Jen - a work in progress in 6 month pre surgery questions
I have Coventry insurance. I'm 5ft 6. I started at 360 my BMI WAS > 50. I only had to do a 3 month supervised diet. I saw a nutritionist once a month. At my first visit I had already lost 11 pounds. She made a comment that this was great because Dr Hawver my surgeon likes to see at least 10 lbs lost each month. Now the supervised diet was only 1300 cal and at my size that was going to make me lose weight. I lost a total of 35 pounds by the time they submitted my letter for approval which came back approved in two days... I joked that my insurance must have thought I was going kiel over dead soon if I didn't have this surgery or they'd soon be paying for lots of health problems. I'm currently pretty healthy besides being overweight. As a matter of fact my surgeon made me sign a paper that stated I would not gain any weight from the weight I was at my initial visit or she would not do the surgery even if it was approved. I could have lost 25 percent of my weight and my BMI would have still qualified me. I know this is a little sketchy for people that their BMIs are close to the cut offs. These cut offs are set by the NHI and the AMA. When they classified obesity as a disease and defined what persons would benefit from WLS they used the minimum BMI OF 35 with comorbidities and 40 without as what was the standard medical professionals should use for assessing potential candidates for these surgeries which in turn is why the insurance industry uses these parameters or they would be paying for the crazy wack a do people who would do something this drastic to lose 10 lbs... Having said all that insurance companies are all different and even if you know someone with the same carrier you could and probably do still have different coverage because it's based on what your employer has picked when designing their plan. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

My husband was the same, supported me but finally stated to me, isn't this very dangerous? To which I stated Not as dangerous as being morbidly obese. He looked at me and stated, you are right.
