  1. For me on canned chicken I just drain the water most of the time but I sometimes add zesty honey mustard into it. As for Tuna Creations it's a bag StarKist product. I like the Sweet & Spicy flavor.
  2. I'm just past 4 months. My fitnesspal is my recorder. I do a protein drink for breakfast every morning. After that it's up in the air what I eat. I do have my main protein supplements of tuna creations, baked tilapia, and canned chicken. They're always on hand and I eat a lot of them. I recently slowed down my weight loss but I know it was the choices and quantity of food I was eating. After I corrected my mistake I was loosing at my normal pace again. I'm now into store bought rotisserie turkey breast. I have them cut into steak size and it works out to about 3 oz each.

    Protein

I too use chocolate flavored Premier Protein shakes and love them. I've been drinking them for around four months now as my breakfast meal and I plan to do this for the foreseeable future.
  6. I agree we should all be careful on what and how we say things. It's already to easy to miscommunicate our thoughts into written words.
  7. I tell everyone I get a chance to tell because I'm so proud of it.

    Caffeine

I waited three months after surgery and started with hot tea. Now it's coffee and/or tea whenever I feel like it. My doctor said coffee or tea is fine.
  9. No you really don't wish this on yourself. It's not just sweets. If I eat anything with over 8 grams of sugar I get the dumps.

    Post Op Calorie Count

I'm eating between 700 and 900 cals a day. I'm still working on my goal weight and plan to stay eating this amount until I go into my maintenance stage. At that time I'll slowly go up in cals until I can maintain my weight.
  11. I may have missed something important in my research for having my GBS. I see in one of the forums that quote, " Most bypass patients wear medical bracelets after surgery. " it was said because of the possibility of a doctor or paramedic running something down your throat and perforating the pouch. I never though of this and therefore I don't have a medical bracelet. My question is do I as a bypass patient need to wear a bracelet and do others? Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Scared dad!

My Mom was the one who was showing her worry the most. My Aunt was telling horror stories about people who had weight loss stories. I remained calm, positive and committed to my decision every time I talked to her. It didn't help that after the surgery I ended up back in the hospital with internal bleeding. She wasn't satisfied I was fine and health until I was able to travel and let her see me in person. Now she's ok but I'm sure she would not of let me do it if it was her decision.
  14. Hi Alex, Randy here. Can the section Topics with No Reply be increased in size in the next BariatricPal update? I see that some questions asked by newbies and others never get answered. I know for myself I wait to say anything because a subject matter expert is best. But there are times when that question gets dropped off the radar. This way If we see something that's been on the board a while it has a good chance to be answered by someone. The change could bring more people into the forums and prevent any negative feeling. Thanks for looking into this and a big thanks for what you're doing for us. Randy

    The Horror of Cooking Recipes

This is a rant and rave topic and not meant to offend anyone. It concerns diet food being displayed everywhere. I started this journey because of food and it upsets me with all these good food recipes with their great pictures of how they look. I don't care what low cal meal someone cooks. I remember watching cook shows and it made me hungry just watching it. Food recipes and displays do the same thing. Why entice me into something that's my weakness, I just don't understand. Yeah I know, just don't look at them, but how about the person that can't help themselves. My diet excludes these displays. I know if I go down this road I'll go back the way I was and that's not going to happen. I admit my meals are dull but that's my intent. My meals are now just substance to keep me healthy. Thank you for giving me my moment and again it's not meant to hurt. Perhaps their's others that feel the same way. I just had to let it out.

    The Horror of Cooking Recipes

I'll try to explain myself. Food has always been the major focal point of my family life. Because of that some of my family has suffered tragically. I also had a past experience being a vegan learning way to much about the "food factory". Because of all this I seem to see food differently than some and perhaps for most people. I also don't plan out meals. It's now mostly just me and my wife in the house. My basic meal is canned chicken or a tuna pack, my wife cooks the vegetables, simple and easy. Once in a while I very this but mostly I like what I eat. Concerning my rant, the display of nice looking foods is a stimulate. A lot of web sites I visited concerning weight loss show these wonderful meals you can prepare. They make me want to eat not what to eat.

I Had Plastic Surgery 10-yrs after Bariatric Surgery

    Wow! You go girl.
  23. Hi Paigeh93 and welcome to the group. I have Tricare (south) so we basically have the same insurance. I chose three months from my first appointment with my surgeon to my surgery date to complete the insurance requirements to have RNY. That's because of the three months of doctor supervised weight loss requirement we have. It took three months and two weeks and I was under the knife. If you haven't already gone to your Humana Tricare site and looked up the requirements for weight loss surgery you need to do so. For me the process was very easy. All the paperwork was collected and then submitted to Tricare by my surgeon's staff. Look up a Bariatric Surgeon in your area who uses Tricare to pick your doctor. If you can choice from several pick the best. I had to go outside the hundred mile radius to get mine. As for the type of procedure you should get, do your research throughly because it's a personal choice and opinions vary. I'm very happy with the RNY but I did have complications after surgery that put me back in the hospital. I factored the odds of that in before the surgery by being as healthy as I could get. I was a big smoker and drinker leading a stagnate life so stopped it all at the end of 2013. At the time I wasn't thinking about the surgery but only my health. It just naturally led up to WLS. I wish you the best of luck on your decision and I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress.
