I didn't like the texture but I think they are ok occasionally. I caught them on sale and used coupons so now I have 4 boxes I may never finish.

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?
Kissifur replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Rants & Raves
I have read a lot of questions from people regarding things that seem like don'ts. However those questions have just as much value for me as the million questions about stalls or the I'm two seconds out from surgery and have only lost 10 lbs what did I do wrong? When I was about 2 weeks out I was unable to get my Water down and ended up dehydrated. Someone asked a question regarding the use of straws because that worked for them. Instead of a simple yes or no the soap boxes were out in force. A few days later I found that using straws helped me get my water down. While straws were on my doctors list of donts, dying of dehydration was on my list of donts. I talked to my doctor about it and to my surprise he said if it works for you go ahead (the only concern was possible discomfort from air and not stretching my sleeve or a life threatening event). So I totally understand why people ask other patients and their doctor to see if the rule is smoke or fire and not necessarily because they are of below average intelligence or irresponsible. -
I agree with you and NO it is not any different. I also choose to only tell a few people. I have struggled with how I will deal with telling once everyone starts to ask. On one hand it can be viewed as something private and no one wants to hear the negative crap. However if those of us who have been through it hide it or are not honest aren't we the ones that are pushing and validing the idea that there is something wrong about the surgery. So how are we surprised that the un/misinformed rule the image people have of WLS.

For me it has been the easy way and I'm ok with that. This has been easier than my previous attempts at weight lose thanks to my tool. My gallbladder removal and my C-Section were both easier than the alternative at the time as well. I thought smart people look for the easiest/shortest distance to reach their goals and I have always considered myself a genius. Congratulations to all of us for figuring out that the hard way was killing us and screw what people think!!

I have thought about buying a new one everytime Bed Bath Beyond sends me a 20 percent off coupon

I did have a lot of regret in the begin now I don't think about it. I eat normal food but just a lot less maybe 1/4 to 1/3 cup. I am so afraid to become obsessed with the scale that I stay away from it. I wont be weighed again until the end of August (last time was around July 7th). Although there are times when I want to know my weight, I hid the scale now I can't find it.

OMG I just ate 6 chewy chips ahoy cookies
Kissifur replied to jodileigh3474's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Those cookies are the devils work and so good. I love the 100 calorie chops ahoy. I found them at the 99 cent store this week and as I was loading my cart up I remembered something. There was a time when I could eat the whole box. So my little 100 calorie snack was actually 600 calories. I put them all (5 boxes) back. You learned something very important from all of this. You can't control yourself with them. Think about that the next time you want to buy them. We got this!! -
I stopped tracking about a week ago and I was between 600-700. Are you losing or have you stalled? I'm don't think I'm eating enouch calories. I don't weight myself so I don't know if I should increase my intake but I eat when I'm hungry. Give it a try. unjury should not be heated over140 degrees or it will clump. I agree it is very expensive but you are worth it and if you dont try it you will never know (just one cup)
-
Have you tried heating it a little after you mix the milk with the powder? How far out are you? I'm 8 weeks today and find that I can drink water like a fish and eating is much easier than the first few weeks (1-5)

I have not had any Protein supplements in about 4 weeks. I have been trying to get my protein from food but not getting any were near enough. I agree I was able to do the chicken soup UNTIL I bought the whole tube now I can't stand it. I bought 4 Quest Bars and lost them (I suspect my little ones found them). I have decided that there is no way in the world that I was getting 80-100 gms of protein with my old eating habits so I refuse to stress over nasty protein supplements.

I have the same problem. The unjury chicken Soup was the best option I have found. Have you tried unflavored protein added to your food? I have some but never tried it.

GNC and The Vitamin Shoppe sale them.
-
I haven't tried them yet but I have seen videos of people baking them like cookies and using them in recipes.

I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket but still found a way to feel guilty. How could I inconvenience my husband who is the sole bread winner with having to take care of me? I think we are so ashame that we let it get this far that we would feel guilty no matter what. You are worth it so go forward without and guilt!

Starting pre-op diet early?
Kissifur replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was not required to do a pre-op diet other than clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight. I think if you can handle it I say go for it. You can also take this time to start practicing some of the many rules you will have to live with after surgery such as no calories drinks only, chewing your food 20+ times (hardest part for me), no sweets and limit carbs. You have to remember that after surgery you will have to move through stages to get to food (4 weeks for me) which seemed like an eternity. Good luck with what ever you decide to do. -

You look amazing and so much happier. You are smiling in every after picture. -
I know... that's why I was looking for one with iron. It didn't have calcium either. Which is why I asked which one you found.

Kaiser in Souther California
Kissifur replied to borncuban67's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I completed the Options program through So Cal Kaiser (WLA). I lost and gained the same few pounds during the program. Most people get serious after Options while waiting for the appointment with the surgeon, I know i did. I managed to lose about 20 lbs by my surgery date but my Surgeon didn't require me to or even mention more weight loss although I only loss around 10 lbs after the program. One of the girls in the class didn't lose enough and the surgeon told her she had to lose I think it was 10 or 15 lbs by her date. I think its rare that they will deny you but the surgeon may tell you if he wants you to lose weight by your date. Good Luck you can do it!! -

Miserable - Relationship Sucks
Kissifur replied to HaddocksEyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I totally understand where you are coming from. My husband is a smoker as well, while I am the food addict. No matter how much weight I have gained he has loved me through everything. Do I not owe him the same when it comes to his addiction? I have begged, used bribes and guilt and nothing has worked. In the same way that every diet did not work for me. Too bad there is no surgery to help smokers. I can't help but wonder if there are other issues that are being covered up by the smoking. You stated that your relationship sucks, when did this begin since he stated back smoking 3 years into the marriage? You mentioned that you have two degrees, a good paying career and the kids are almost out the house. Could it be that you are finally ready to walk away and you need an excuse? Maybe you guys should seek counseling, I have been twice both times we went it was either to help us stay together or help us walk away without anger. Hopefully a therapist can help you through this. -
Dr. Jalil Illan with Baja Bariatrics and Omar Acosta - A Warning
Kissifur replied to *susan*'s topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thank you for giving your opinion on the matter but I was looking for fact. I checked the surgeons through the Kaiser website and all only listed MD behind their name. So in "my" opinion those letter are either not needed or not as important as some may think. I do understand the need for surgeons to set themselves apart from the competition which is not a concern for most Kaiser Dr. However you raised an important issue regarding surgeons being Board Certified. -
You should check to make sure calcium is not included with iron. It affects the absorption.

Congratulations!!! Make sure you scream loud enough so I can hear you in California... Ms size 16!
