Starting this week i am allowed to have up to 3 oz of non-starch vegetables. Does anyone have interesting cooking tips. I find that i am not interested in any of the choices i have, except pumpkin and green beans. Thoughts?

I experienced the same with the Multi-Vitamin. I eat something then take the pill or crushed pill.

Scyall, Thanks for your response. I already started with semi-soft foods as of this week. So far so good. I could wait and stick with what i am doing right now. I will have at least 4oz of non-starchy vegetables next week. I could wait for the Quest bar down the road.

When is it ok to start having Quest bars? I am three weeks out since surgery. The reason i am asking is that i will be traveling in two weeks and i need a staple to keep me on my 60 grams a day plan.

Pick any gold plan that covers most the surgery and co-pays. I have sliver plan but the doctor was out of network. -
I had my Gastro sleeve completed on June 17 at Sliver Cross with Dr. Lahmann.

Hi! I had my surgery on June 17 and my post op dreams of course have been different. One thing that is surprising was my dreams about food. They are vivid and simple. My first dream was that i was in a restaurant and served me a small size waffle that was great and its was all gone with a few bites. It was so satisfying and i was happy. The second dream was how i had two fig newtons and i enjoyed each bite and i was relaxed and happy. I never had food dreams like this. Its also pleasant that my mind has accepted how small special amounts has the same value of plate of food or excess amount. Anyone had dreams like this?

Had my surgery on the 17th. I am back home since this afternoon. Feeling tired and trampled on at the surgical sites. The drain felt weird when they pulled it out but no pain. i feel its challenging to keep up with the water, but at least i could keep down the broth and some tea. I chewed on a cube of jello but i afraid that i might swallow it whole so i just chewed on one. Tomorrow i will try pureed the egg or some cottage cheese then a protein shake along my vitamins, CoQ 10, and EFA. I hope i do not gag. Also for those that just had the surgery, positive energy towards you and your family.

Ex-Friend Keeps Writing Negatively About Me on Different Blogs and Web Sites
mcherder replied to Sharon C.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Its sounds like your former associate (she was never your friend, and does not deserve to be called one) is spinning on your own jealousy and lack of control over others. Stand tall on your bold decision to your own wellbeing. I am more to happy to be pal as well. -
My ops is on June 17. Third day on pre-op diet.

mcherder replied to newlifeunderconstruction's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting the Gastic Sleeve done at Slver Cross at New Lenox on June 17. -
Thanks! That helps out to understand the changes the body will go through after surgery. Its like with time the numbers will balance out.

Getting closer to the surgery date and I did have a few more questions for the board. Did anyone have their cholesterol level go higher or lower since the surgery. I am asking because I do not have a gallbladder and currently my cholesterol level is high.

Ok here is one question for the group: The role of Fiber after the surgery. I respect the use of fiber since I have been concentrating on my changes with my food intake. I always was a "regular" type of person with no problems going to the bathroom a few times a day. I do not want to loose that, especially while I am losing weight. Since there is a limitation of the space I will have after surgery and how fiber expands. Any suggestions on fiber? I see wafers and fiber pills, but I think that is a bit much in the beginning. Maybe Metamucil?

Only 5 mos out......but I might can answer some of your questions! I researched the Water issue post-op throughout the last few weeks. I have a few concerns. Since the stomach is only at 20% and the amount of liquid or food is from 2 to 4% at any given serving. How does one maintain a healthy level of water throughout the day? The only thing I could come up with is that I need to sip water all throughout the day. Maybe ice chips? Suggestions.....

Since early April i have been cutting back on the simple cabs and sweets, Eating sensible meals through out the day, but there is something unusual going on. I am not hungry at all. Is my system in shock? I have lost so far 12 pounds, but i am a bit concerned that i am not hungry. I drink plenty of water, i stopped drinking coffee. Any thoughts on this? I just do not want to to feel mad hungry after the surgery (June 17).

I have a question on hunger
mcherder replied to mcherder's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bob, Thanks for your insight. I did Adkin neon years ago, but I was eating like an animal, but losing weight. I am a lot older now, but I guess age and levels of stress make a difference for the positives. I just do not want to get hit by the hunger truck ... Anyway, I did have a "boredom" moment and got a hunger pang. I never felt it before but since I am more aware of my body triggers a piece of chicken did help out the "feeling". I think I am going to keep a journal to remind me along my path. Thanks! Michelle
