What plan? How many calories are you talking about?
-
Just over 6 months out from surgery, have lost over 100lbs. Should I be counting my calories now? If so how many calories do I shoot for or should I not worry about it?
-
Mine are not daily anymore either. Try increasing your fluid intake if you can. Also I use Miralax on occasion to help loosen things up a little. It's more gentle.

I am 6 months post op at the end of this month and have lost 103 lbs so far. Have about 40-50 more to go to get to my goal. I used to be vegetarian/vegan and find myself wanting to get back to that lifestyle often. Any post op veg people have suggestions on getting the minimum 60g of protein required without the meat and without feeling like I'm having to eat constantly in order to meet that requirement? I'm still at the point that getting 60g is a struggle because I literally cannot eat that much food.

When was your surgery?

alcoholic drinks what is your preference post op
lwprice replied to Patti04005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had one beer since surgery and a couple glasses of prosecco. Yes they are both carbonated a bit but I can't drink much. I've also had a couple small glasses of wine. It just doesn't taste the same to me anymore. -
I'm 2.5 weeks out and it seems I've already stalled. The first week I lost like 10 lbs and now my weight has barely budged in a week and a half. I thought the weight would just be melting off. Was very successful with full liquids and puréed stage...no nausea. Just starting soft foods stage. When will the weight start coming off again?!

3 weeks Post-Op Question
lwprice replied to CaliGirl1216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue just 2-3 weeks out. The stall lasted maybe 7-10 days then I started losing more and fast, like a pound per day for a week and a half. The more protein you eat the faster the weight loss, so try to keep your protein intake up if you can. I know it's hard and I still don't get in my 60g/day. It's a work in progress. -
Six weeks out and getting bored with my diet. I've recently started in solid foods and am adding things in. Any suggestions?

34 lbs and it's not even been 3 months yet is amazing! Everyone is different but it sounds like you are doing great to me.

3.5 weeks post op and it looks like we are going out for a late lunch early dinner today with friends. I'm super worried. What should I get? I have no idea. I'm currently on the soft foods stage.

What type of yogurt do you use?
lwprice replied to Bring It On's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree that the Yoplait 100 calorie Greek is the best tasting. Doesn't have that horrible tangy goat cheesy taste that some others have. I know every doctor is a little different and mine suggested keeping sugars under 10g each per serving. All of the yoplait 100 calorie Greek yogurts fit that and they are high in protein too. -
Thanks for your input! Won't the mashed potatoes have too much fat in them?

Had RNY on 8/28. REALLY struggling to get my protein and liquids in. Was back to work full time this week and I know I'm not getting enough. Even when i do eat I don't always want it. Sometimes I even feel sick to my stomach when I'm forcing myself to eat. Like the feeling of if I keep eating I'll get sick. That's probably a big reason why I'm not dropping the weight as fast as i had imagined. Ugh!! Any suggestions??

Recovery..... do you really need someone the first few weeks?
lwprice replied to bluedreams86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely have someone there to help you. You are limited to what you can do for the first couple of weeks...no lifting over 10lbs, no pushing/pulling, no house cleaning, things like that. No driving for a week. Plus you are pretty weak from the surgery itself. And you may have pain...mine has been pretty moderate and I'm thankful my mom has been around. Everyone is different but I would suggest having someone there for you the first couple of weeks. -
Just had surgery on the 28th. Everything went well with the surgery. The surgeon did say he had to put a stitch in my muscle where he took out one of the laparoscopes because it was bleeding more than he wanted it too. Man, the pain in that one area is pretty bad. My other sites seem good and relatively pain free. I'm having some back pain too. All of this normal? I'm having to take hydrocodone every 4 hours to deal with the pain in that one site and the only comfortable position is lying down at this point.

My insurance doesn't cover it either. Check to see if your Dr office accepts CareCredit. It's a credit card specifically for health care needs. You can apply online and you instantly get an approval amount.

On my pre-op diet and I just fixed a packet of the Unjury chicken soup. I followed the directions to heat water to 140 degrees or less...even used a thermometer to check it and it still came out SO lumpy...taste was ok but the texture was just like soggy lumpy bread. Any suggestions?

My initial consultation for RNY is tomorrow in Winchester. Excited, anxious, nervous and READY to go on this journey!
