  1. From Gold Coast have you had your Op yet & who is your Surgeon I am new to this Forum too. Good luck Hi. I am from the Gold Coast. I had my sleeve done in Brisbane by Dr Reza Adib. He is great I would recommend him to anyone. I have really struggled since my surgery with nausea and vomiting and am starting to learn that there are things I just cannot eat. Rice is the worst. At least I am losing weight which is one of the reasons I had the surgery in the first place. I believe at the moment it's just trial and error.
  2. Mistysj your haircut looks awesome!
  3. You poor thing. I know that you can hav gallbladder problems when you are losing a lot of weight. That's why we need to make sure we are having some essential fatty acids. Good luck with your recovery :-)

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I am hanging out to chew too! I chewed a chip the other night then spat it out! Anything I've tasted puréed just doesn't do it for me. I have another week and a half of purées then a week of soft foods. Then normal food - mind you I have forgotten what normal food is. And 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time means my normal will be a new normal not my old normal - if that makes any sense.

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

Oh no Ozi......that's not good! I've been on puréed for a couple of days, and not having any problems at all ( unless the food isn't puréed enough, then I feel sick). Have some carbs...soft pasta or well mashed potato etc. it may help with the weakness. It made a difference for me. You've lost a stack of weight. I've only lost 7 kg's. Maybe your losing too fast and it's making you feel tired/ weak? Best of luck x Thanks. I discovered today that a small kfc potato and gravy (not at all nutritious) is the right size for a meal and I can keep it down, Didn't think I'd ever complain about losing weight too fast lol! I think your 7 kgs is pretty impressive. I think it's because I have more weight to lose than you that I am losing it quicker. Keep up the good work - it's obviously :-)

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I've been on purées since Wednesday. If it's not soup I dont like it. Despite never eating more than 1/4 of a cup I want to throw up every time I eat - this is starting to ease though. I am losing heaps of weight (nearly 12 kgs). The worse symptom I have is this absolutely overwhelming weakness. My husband bought some hydrolyte from the pharmacy which helps a little. I am really pleased I had the surgery I am really looking forward to feeling like my 'old' self though.
  7. Go girl! Your are losing heaps now!!! Awesome! Just wondering do you ever get hungry at all?? I have to force my self to eat. Kinda strange. So glad you are doing ok! Dal No I don't get hungry at all. I eat at regular intervals but only because I know I should.
  8. Faye I too had my surgery on the 21st. I have quite a few stabbing pains on my left and right sides. My incision sites also hurt a little. I am fast asleep by 10pm every night, I have never slept so well. All of these pains and the tiredness etc are apparently all quite normal. My worst symptom is weakness. I started back at work on Friday and worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday from home. I was due back at the office yesterday but didn't go yesterday or today.
  9. Thanks for your share Bec. I started at the same weight as you so I am really encouraged to read your now weight. Awesome that you can start a family - great reward :-)
  10. I'm doing great. Was meant to be on fluids only til Wednesday but couldn't stand it anymore. Ate puréed veggies for dinner last night. I've lost 9.8kgs so can't complain. Your loss looks great too. I've been wondering if those soup makers are any good . I have been living on soups through my fluid stage. Keep up the good work!

Trust my body to want to hold on to this weight! What you say makes perfect sense......however, it doesn't make it easier to deal with, nor does it stop the deflated feeling. I feel like I have gone through all this, only to have lost 8 kg's. I know the weight HAS to start moving in a down ward spiral again....how could it not when I am eating so much less? The hard bit is staying up beat and positive. Many thanks for your response and helping me stay focused. Our bodies are weird at times I breast fed and put on weight! I haven't lost any for a couple of days either but a few days ago I lost 2 kgs In one day. Try and eat 100 to 200 calories more for a couple of days. You're body will get the message that it's not starving and it will stop trying to store fat. I read many years ago that it isn't good to eAt the same number of calories everyday because your metabolism just compensates. So if you want to average at 700 calories have 600 one day and 800 the next. You have done really wel so far. Try not to feel too discouraged!

Although I don't feel physically hungry I want food. I worked out last night that it is because I want to chew - I haven't chewed for 3 1/2 weeks and it will be 2 1/2 weeks before I can. Roll on my soft food week!

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I was told that some of the pain that I feel in my chest is because the opening from the oesophagus gets tightened a bit in the surgery. Apparently the pain eases. I too am over shakes. I am having soups, juice and coconut water.

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I can only sip half a teaspoon at a time and I wait a few minutes before I have another.
  15. Thanks Mistysj. Congratulations for getting down to a size 6 or 8. You are right about health being more important. I have just seen ghastly photos of people with loose skin hanging past their pubis. I started off at 135kgs hence my concern.
  16. I know this is a bit of a personal question but do those of you who are now slim have issues with excess skin? I have read so many negative things about excess skin to the point that I really wasn't sure if I wanted to have the surgery. Having surgery was a very big issue for me as I have a lot of difficulty being roused afterwards so a cosmetic procedure isn't on the cards for me at all. I remember seeing Alison, who won the second series of biggest loser here in Aus, saying it was a lot easier to hide excess skin than a size 26 butt. Can't believe I passed the week after surgery mark yesterday. We are legends girls. Big pats on the back to everyone - specially those 20th 21st and 22nd siestas!
  17. You're lucky. I have one more week of liquids then 2 weeks of purée then 1 week of soft foods. I am SO over liquids!

Gesined and Yummymummy. I'm so glad u guys are doing well! Do you have much visible bruising? I have the most horrendous bruising around the wound sites but I have lots of small bruises on my arms and torso etc.

I have finally lost weight! I'm convinced that it was all the swelling. I had a really weird experience this morning like I couldn't swallow my saliva cause my stomach was full. I won't go into the gory details but eventually felt better. Hadn't really expected nausea this far out from surgery. How are you guys going? Are you experiencing any pain when you swallow? I have to really be careful to take tiny sips. I was chatting to my youngest son last night and took a swig from my water bottle. The pain was really bad.
  20. I am a asthmatic and spend a lot of my life on prednisone also. It's a b***h isn't it!! But I am now under the care of a new respiratory specialist ( who as a added bonus is a hottie!) and haven't had to use it since February and I feel so much better for it!! Have a great day Ps 4 kgs is still great and just think it is 4 kgs you will never 'find' again You're right about that 4kgs! I don't know what happened to part of my message to you. I was saying that Herbs of Gold Green Power Protein is supposed to be one of the best protein powders. Mrs Flannerys sometimes have it otherwise the health shop at Robina has it but that is a long way for you to travel. The worst thing about Prednisone is the double whammy - it makes you put on weight and makes you hungry. Lucky you Getty off pred I hope I can soon too. Take care. Sounds as though you're doing really well :-)

Any May 20th surgeries out there?

I've been on full liquids since Friday so soup etc is my main source of energy until June 4th then purée for 2 weeks, soft diet for one week then full foods but only 1/2 c of food per meal.

My surgeon prescribed Buscopan because he said the stomach muscles spasm. I don't really have pain any more just discomfort. I have not felt physically hungry at all. Neither have I felt full. I am assuming I don't feel full because I am sipping a cup over an hour. You take care and keep up the good work :-)
  23. Oh that's right I remember you told me Allamanda. I had mine at Wesley. You have been through this with your husband away AND breast feeding! You are awesome. Because I went through Weightloss Solutions, who have been really supportive, I have paid quite a lot for aftercare etc but I am happy. I have put on approx 50 kgs in the last 5 years because I have been taking prednisone so I am looking forward to -that's along way for u to go though. From the time I started my shakes until yesterday I had only lost 4 kgs which is really disappointing. I am really not sure why it is so low. I too had pumpkin soup yesterday it tasted wonderful.

I just commented on another thread that this surgery is not for the faint hearted. I think it's pretty brutal. I have bruises so black I didn't even know they came that dark! Apart from two lots of morphine they gave me in recovery I avoided any narcotics they make me vomit and I already felt more nauseous than I wanted to! I had the shakes and was freezing too. I think it's the bodies reaction to finding out part of it is gone. Only sunk in today - 85% of my stomach has gone! Me and that stomach had some good times lol. I take it you didn't get any knitting done. I feel quite jealous you have lost weight. I don't know if there's fluid build up with my bruises or what but I am 400gms heavier than when I weighed my self before leaving for the hospital! At least now we are on the path to wellness and recovery!!!!
  25. I am in Ormeau!! How you doing? I am feeling like all I do is drink!! But other than that all very good. Managing pain with panadol. Glad to hear everything is going well. I actually think we're pretty darn brave this surgery is not for the feint hearted. I feel as though all I do is drink also. Where did you have your surgery? I am feeling a lot better today. I have a really nasty bruise under my chin that I came out of theatre with. I would love to know how I got it. Tummy feels a lot better today. I took my reflux tablet before I went to sleep last night and woke up at 2 am with it sitting dissolved in the back of my throat. Tasted absolutely disgusting. Taking it 2 hours before I go to sleep tonight! Today's the first day I have felt a bit more human I'm positive it's the coffee I had this morning.
