Any May 20th surgeries out there?
Ozikiwi replied to teemarie1078's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is amazing how different our experiences are. No drains or catheter etc for me. Just 5 wounds none of which have stitches. Now just sip, sip, sip. I must be honest and admit my sipping for the next hour is a small skinny soy hazelnut latte. I don't drink a lot of coffee but I have missed it. So great to hear everyone is doing so well. Has anyone not lost weight? I weigh 400 grams more than I did the day before I went into hospital. I am assuming this is just fluid from the op. Bit disconcerting tho considering the first day and a half after surgery I only had the iv fluids. -
Where do you live?

I think I would have been too scared to leave the hospital if I hadn't had the swallow (leak check). My nausea seems to have finally gone. My surgeon wanted me to stay another night because I still have quite a lot of pain but I preferred to go home and it sure is Great to be home. -
Just saw my surgeon and I can go home today. Lots of good advice on this forum - so glad I stumbled across it. I'm glad everyone is going well.

It's just over 24 hours since my op. I feel like crap. Constant nausea which I keep taking meds for because of course nobody wants me vomiting. I have 5 keyholes and 3 of them are extremely sore. Am looking forward to feeling better. Still happy I've had it though -
Yup I remember that feeling:) I was almost in a daze, like I was having an out of body experience lol but you will be ok... You will wake up in no time in your room and it will all be over:) I live to fight another day! I am amazed at how inspiring/comforting it is to 'know' others who understand. Thanks heaps :-)

I feel pretty crappy this morning but could be worse. Happier to be on this side of the surgery!

good luck iamblessed1225, keep us posted. I'm the 22nd I am having mine on the 21st also. -
By Wednesday it will be all over red rover! Well.....the op will be. My op is on Tuesday. Technically, Wednesday will be the first day of the rest of my life I'm not on a pre op diet. Just liquids on the day before I go in to hospital. So I'm pretty lucky really. I'm off to the shops tomorrow and will be getting enough food....I mean fluids...to last me a week. I hope to keep busy enough so I don't have to think too much about what's ahead. We got this! Indeed we do! Good luck for Tuesday :-)

Cara obviously I don't know your friends but I know people. Their comments are about them not you! Stand proud - you are doing something positive about your health and that takes guts :-) -
I'm ok. Had the presurgery jitters today. The pre op food regime is driving me nuts mainly because I don't like the taste too much. I made a big pot of miso soup tonight which was really nice - made me feel as though I was eating normal food. Wednesday can't roll around quick enough for me. How about you?

I am using iso whey. The berry and chocolate are absolutely disgusting. Banana and vanilla not too bed. They also make a hot chocolate. I have just been eating my veggies for dinner and then have a hot choc -delicious!

I have a friend who was talking to a bariatric nurse who told her that the suicide rate amongst patients who have had sleeves is really high. She then qualified it by saying that was people who had mental health issues before their surgery. I recommend anyone feeling a lot more depressed etc should seek out support ASAP.

Hi Shellz I am having my sleeve on May 21st at Wesley with Dr Adib. I am not looking forward to the barium meal. Was it the taste that was disgusting?
