I am 6 days post op, tomorrow is my week mark since surgery. I'm not sure if I know what full feels like yet since I'm on a liquid diet still. Today I had puréed cream of crab soup, first creamy substance so far and I could only eat a little (obviously) until my body told me to stop. I feel full but a different full from before. Not a miserable full. Anyways thought I share, would love some feedback of how full feels and how you know when to stop etc etc. thanks

Hello! My surgery was this past Monday May 5th and Tomorrow will be 6 days post op. I was feeling great until about Thursday I developed a migraine and since have had a lingering headache and a lot of dizziness and just feeling like crap. I wondered if that was normal? Also today I had some gas come back into my shoulder which I haven't had since day 2. Just a little alarming. -

One thing that helps with the discomfort of drinking and eating is the temperature. The only thing cold my stomach will tolerate is Popsicles. Everything else I want has to be room temperature. It helps a lot getting fluids in without the miserable gas and pain in sternum. The protein shakes there is no way you will get the amount your told to in each day. Get as much as you can but don't over do it. Try the Adkins shakes without blending them frozen just plain see if that makes a difference. I can't even eat jello or water if it is chilled. Only room temperature. Hope this helps! -

I also am having problems drinking. I am so thirsty and know I'm probably dehydrated but everytime I drink it hurts. Doesn't matter what it is my stomach gets air bubbles and gurgles after every sip. I'm really getting frustrated because all I want to do is gulp liquids down but my stomach is refusing to let me. Is this normal and common with other sleevers? -

You might want to contact your doctor especially if you are having shortness of breath. I don't have any abdominal pain anymore just pressure from air and gas still. -

Sorry to hear about the headaches. It must be very common. I mean you have look at it this way, we are eating 75% less if what we were. Our bodies are in shock. I seem to notice they come around when I'm not drinking enough or getting enough nutrition. Sip sip sip all day long to get your fluids in. And same here I was taking my meds only for the head pain. No surgical site pain just Pressure from the gas still. I stopped the Tylenol with codeine last night and got some children's Tylenol for the headache. I have been leaning off of the T3 and I think I may have been withdrawing headaches. I hate the way the narcotics make me feel. So far today no headache feeling pretty good without the pain meds. No I wasn't a huge caffeine soda drinker only sometimes. -

Lidia I have not experienced numbness but I had a lot of soreness and weakness in my right leg for first few days. I drank calcium (skim milk) and that seemed to help. I would probably get the numbness checked out though. Are you on blood thinners?? -

Well instead of going out to eat which is torture at this point my family is making ribs and corn on cob for them and my mom got me some cream of crab soup. My nutritionist said I can purée the soup to make it a liquid purée which I cannot wait for. She also said I could use the healthy choice veggie soup purée it and heat up for more of solid food but texturized. I called her freaking out today because I'm just hungry. I'm tired of Popsicles, jello, applesauce and Campbell's chicken broth. -
Overeating before surgery

When I found out my surgery date I went on a food rage and ate all my favorites before my 2 week pre op liquid diet. Even on that I cheated a little bit and still lost 14 pounds. After surgery doctor told me my liver was small and was in no kinda way of VSG procedure. Which made me feel a lot better since I cheated lol I think it's normal and people do cheat you will lose regardless. But I wish I had started eating healthier like you months before. Keep it up you will do great and don't deprive yourself of your favorite foods just take a couple bites and call it a day if that satisfies you! -

That's crazy! See I was told only bypass patients had dumping syndrome? Good to know they want you avoiding sugar due to calories but maybe because are stomachs are so traumatized right now it couldn't digest all that. I am super hungry though I haven't felt full yet. What are some things you've been eating?? -

Wow sorry to hear your going thru the same thing as me. My headaches are very mild now. Knock on wood! And I too have had terrible gas pains all day which resulted in traveling up to my shoulder again. It is subsiding but my dr told me if it's not gone by Monday to call. I have had diarrhea almost every time I urinate that started a few days ago. It is completely liquid. Which they say liquid in liquid out so that is normal but I am having A lot... Also all day today I have felt my stomach and intestines gurgle and toss and turn it feels like. Are you experiencing this? I was also told that was normal -

Okay thanks for tip. I'm trying to get in as much fluid as possible but it is very hard!!!! I had a breaking point today I just felt so weak and all I wanted to do was eat. I was so hungry from only eating clear liquids. Tomorrow I'm gonna try some creamed soups and solid drinks that should help my headache too. It's all mental and I never thought it would be this hard. -
