Exactly 6 weeks post-op I will get on a plane and fly back east to the wedding of two of my best friends. I have not seen this group since last Thanksgiving and I'm totally nervous about this trip. My weight loss isn't dramatic, but we are a party group and my non-partying ways will be noted. I admit to testing my limits with alcohol with this new stomach which I know is a no-no but I made sure to be super active for two days to combat the calories. I knew I would never go back to my partying ways and as 30 looms another year away I made my peace with that. But now... knowing what I'm heading back into.... I wonder how I pull this off. I am not telling anyone about my surgery. My body is my business and they love me regardless so I feel no need. I just worry about how to combine two lifestyles that do not go together at all. Oh and also about making a fool of myself if I have three glasses of wine. The best part is... I have another wedding to go to at the end of August and I get to do this all over again.

I'm starting to phase foods back into my diet and find that I just don't want to eat things anymore.... I made chicken and took a couple of bites and just ended up throwing it out. It wasn't that I wasn't hungry or became full, I just didn't want it. I ended up eating a Protein bar for dinner. I thought maybe it was just the chicken but I just find myself uninterested in most food. Eating has become a chore and nothing seems to taste the same. Food doesn't taste bad, it is just never what I want.... It is a little difficult to explain. Has anyone else faced a problem like this? I can't live off Protein Bars and shakes forever, I know. Will food become more appealing? -M

thanks guys! I did have a strawberry this weekend at a wedding and was totally into it! It was so weird. Also, it was fun to put little bits of different food from the buffet on my plate, take a small bite of each and then leave the rest. I never would have done that pre-sleeve. I was able to enjoy the tate of the food, and having different textures but I didn't need to clear my plate and lick it clean. Now that I'm back home, I'm still having aversion but it is more to cooking things. I also made a batch of turkey meatballs and also some very hearty stew that I keep in my freezer but going to the grocery store is hard. There is just so much of everything and I hate the idea of waste! I end up with a freezer full of small portions of meat that I just don't have the drive to defrot and cook.... I think i'm going to make this part of my goal for next week. Cook three times with full protein and some veggie and make enough for leftovers!

6 weeks post-op and down over 30lbs which I was a little bummed about since I thought I would have lost more weight.... but then I tried on my "skinny" jeans and they were loose! I have to keep reminding myself that not all weight is fat. Being more acive means there's new muscles developing too. Throwing those jeans into the Plato's Closet pile of clothing made me do a happy dance!

How long was it between the time you started the process and actual surgery?

My insurance covered (most of) mine and I could have gotten it done within 6 weeks of making the choice. I really liked that I didn't have a lot of hoops to jump through like most people. I do end up paying about 2k total though out of pocket for everything but that's better than the 9k total! -
I had my surgery at 7am on a Friday and was home by 6pm on Saturday. As long as you are taking liquids well and didn't have any complications there's no need for a longer hospital stay. Just make sure to walk as much as possible and remember the nurses are your friends.... even when they have to wake you up every couple of hours. (they are also the ones who bring pain medication if needed haha)

Are you taking wicked small bites and chewing completely? If too much builds up it will make you throw up.

thanks! now I can say after today that I have lost 35lbs!!!!! I'm going to totally win the wedding haha. I also realized that 30lbs is 20% of the weight I want to lose. 20% gone! WOOT!

Best Tasting Protein Powders
Mishka85 replied to Fox-E's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I went with Bariatric Advtange and was very please. I got a large tub of chocolate and then the single bags of a bunch of flavors and made big drinks in old water bottles. I would mix the chocolate and the banana quite often and the latte goes well with chocolate or vanilla. I'm currently using powders from GNC as the Bariatric ones are pricey.... The GNC ones are great also! I picked up a peanut butter/chocolate and a strawberry. They are more cost effective because you aren't using the full serving size. -
Hey I would love to be included in the facebook group! I'm currently 4 weeks post-op but think I will sadly be out oft own for the first meeting. Hopefully I can make the next one! my e-mail is mlperry85@gmail.com

Hi everone, new to the site and the group! my surgery was on April 18th and I'm doing well so far. I'm currently trying to find a gym so I can take exercise to the next level since I don't think my Wii Fit is going to cut it much longer. Anyone else have gym anxiety?
