At what age would you have Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) if you had a do-over?
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to JustWatchMe's topic in The Lounge
I had it last year, I was 26, almost 27, and honestly I wish I'd have done it earlier in my 20's. During my marriage, my ex-wife and I travelled a lot and I let my weight/size hold me back from some experiences that I would now jump into head first. I don't have the time/money to travel as much now that I'm divorced, so I missed out on some things that I'm hoping I'll get a chance to redo in the future. If I had kids and I saw that they needed it and could stick with the program and make the necessary life changes, then yes. I think WLS requires a certain level of maturity and responsibility and I'd like to think any child I raise would have that. I'd like to think I had it when I was younger as well. -
I was just there a month ago with a bunch of friends, and I still had booze. I don't drink a lot, so that was my splurge, and we spent quite a good amount of time at GSR acting like kids in the arcade. We also walked the river, and ate sushi. if you like Sushi check out Sushi Pier 2. I ate about a half roll but it was delicious! There are a lot of museums out there too.

Undecided on revision procedure
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to gomezk2's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I actually just researched this, and while the Sleeve is excellent, it's what I got, it actually makes the GERD worse before it makes it any better, and I'm talking the GERD will be there for at least 1 to 3 years before it has a marked improvement. I don't suffer from GERD so the sleeve was the smart choice for me. -
I still keep up with that diary on occasion. I just updated it recently! I can't not be having fun. I'm so happy. I almost bought ANOTHER dress last night! I need shoppers anon. Thanks for your support, you've always been awesome!

Today is the day! I am leaving for the hospital in 20 minutes! I would like to use this post as my daily update/journal for the first 30 days so everyone can see what it is like for me! I'll be back in a couple hours with my first post-op update!! I'm over the moon excited and just ready to have this done.

I'm not loving my loose skin, the batwings and Panni/tummy are not super sexy, but the guy I'm dating right now doesn't care at all. He actually seems to really enjoy my body completely. I HATE HATE HATE my boobs, but he keeps trying his hardest to make me okay with them. I am planning a boob job in the next year/two years, or after I have a kid. Not sure if I can wait that long. I can live with the rest of it, in fact it doesn't bother me overly much, but the boobs...Oy.

SHOPPING!! I feel like I am buying something new at least once a week. I am now small enough to shop on Wish (Chinese app/website) I still have to buy the biggest sizes but at their prices, IDC. Just this month alone from Savers/Goodwill/Wish/Target/Amazon/Ebay I have gotten a new swimsuit, 5 new dresses, several (means I can't remember!!) new tops, 2 pairs of capri yoga pants, French maid costume, peek a boo booty panties, and I can't stop. I also just bought an epilator to do home hair removal instead of shaving every other day and waxing every 4 weeks at $50 a pop. So saving money in waxing to put towards buying more clothes. >D Every time I purge my closet I fill it back up in about 3 months. I even shop out of my best friends closet as well. Guys, I think I need an intervention! Oh, and Sex, definitely addicted to sex now that it is easier to move around.

And So Our Journey Begins...

@@Chrystee It WILL move!! It just takes FOREVER!! Then it will be like a weight loss avalanche!! Have patience and just enjoy the ride, it's so worth it. I am 90 lbs. down today and my weight loss has slowed but I know it's not done and that is what gets me through. You've got this, surgi-sister! -
Is there anything I can have at Smoothie King?
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to ladycook9713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just looking over their menu I would recommend the Shredder - Vanilla: http://smoothieking.com/menu/smoothies/slim-blends/the-shredder-vanilla High Protein, mid to low sugar. Maybe you can ask if they use a sugar substitute, for example Tropical smoothie café will sub out their Turbinado for Splenda. The Gladiator looks like a great option as well: http://smoothieking.com/menu/smoothies/fitness-blends/gladiator Looks like there's no sugar, all protein. -
And So Our Journey Begins...
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to MistyAnnMoon829's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Looks like it has been about 2 months since my last update and not a whole ton has happened. My weight loss has slowed down and it's pretty much a series of back to back stalls in between 1 to 2 lb. losses. I'm not really upset about it. I'm really happy with my progress, I'm happy with my eating habits, I'm happy with my life, and this great body, that still needs some fine tuning, but it is so much better than where I came from. I've uploaded a bunch of pictures below. The first is a comparison in pictures from Ren Faire in October 2014 and Piratefest in April 2015. It's crazy how much has changed!! I put that 2nd outfit together from stuff I found at Goodwill and Savers and I never would have been able to do that before, at least not have it look so great. I never realized that there were such great clothes at Thrift stores, since there never really was in my size before. The next one is a swim suit picture and while the back of the suit is pretty revealing of how much I still need to tone back there, I still am pretty happy with how I look from the front. This suit is incredibly supportive of my breasts, which is hard to find in a suit for DD's. I actually own TWO swim suits. I can't remember the last time I owned and fit into more than 1 at a time. This next picture was from a date I went on a couple weeks back. Found the dress at Savers! For $10, soooooooo cute!!!!! It was a medium from Express originally. I actually found a few dresses from Savers now and I love them, who knew ME?! in a DRESS?! Whaaat? Also, me? Dating?!!? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! Go figure. I actually went on 2.5 dates that week with 3 different people. I've never really dated before, I went from my first love, to my second love my now ex-wife, and before I settle down again (for hopefully the last time) I want to give this dating thing a real go. It's pretty fun, if a bit stressful, lol. Next a selfie! I was at a wedding in Lake Las Vegas as my moms date. I felt beautiful. May face has changed so much and I'm seeing more of my family in it now that I'm not a moon face. I actually see my grandma's smile. Lastly was Me, my best friend, and my main guy in Reno a couple weekends ago. I have never loved my shoulders/collar bones so much. I felt pretty that day. So now for some stats. I'm weighing around 186 depending on the day. I actually hit 185 for 1 day and then back to 187, and down to 186. My body likes to mess with me. I'm actually really happy being about 20 lbs. from goal, I know I'll get there, because even if I make bad food choices on occasion I still make great choices 95% of the time and there is no way I am taking in enough calories to cause gains. I just have to continue to have patience and workout to build my muscles back up. I can feel my muscles under my last layers of fat and they are sexy! Hope everyone is doing as well as I am and is as happy as I am!! -

So I've read on how to manage the skin issue, I'm only 26 almost 27 so my skin should have some good elasticity and snap back with a strict regime of toning starting as soon as possible with heavy lotion, and wraps, and hydration etc...but personal question...How did everyone's breasts do after this? I've always had large boobs even when I was "slimmer" (read 215 lbs) so I'm a little worried tha they will completely disappear. Is anyone willing to share their stories of their post op bodies? I'm just looking forward to being super healthy and able to run and play with my nephews and my future kids one day without being exhausted after 5 minutes, but I need to know if I should start saving now, lol.

I'm only 7 months out but here's my 2cents worth. I highly recommend that you track your eating and working out in MyFitnessPal, it helps to see what you're doing. I also just finished the 5 Day Pouch test and it helped show me exactly how much I can eat at a time and reset my brain a little bit. I was starting to eat more than I was use to and it freaked me out thinking that I had messed something up, just turns out I wasn't following the plan 100% properly. I'm about 27 lbs to goal myself. http://www.5daypouchtest.com

July 24th Sleevers!
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to MistyAnnMoon829's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@soccerfamilyof6 That is so excellent!! I am now down to 192.2 from 275, only have about 27lbs to goal, and now that I am working out steadily and just finished the 5 day pouch test, I am feeling really optimistic that I will get there! -
Hey fellow Sleevers!! I just got my date...Drum roll please...July 24th!!! This was so unexpected when I went in for my post endoscopy today. I was expecting a phone call in a week or so, to go there and get the approval immediately was such a shock. I was so thrilled, I didn't know how to respond for a minute. I have a little bounce in my step now and I am so happy!!!!!! Anyone else out there getting their sleeve on July 24th?

How's everyone doing now that we are over 7 months out? -
I do find that I weigh more around my period and a few days after that I notice a sudden drop.

NSV shout outs
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My mom bought me some boots from Target on clearance and they are knee-high, usually there is no way in hell those things would actually zip over my calf, but these did!! Same thing with another pair she bought me from Sheik. I now own more boots than I ever have in my life but have always wanted to but couldn't because of my big calves. Working out doesn't make me feel like I'm going to die, though it does still hurt, but that is the point right? No Pain No Gain?! The guy I'm seeing right now can move me around easily when cuddling, and does just for fun. I don't hate any of my clothes. I don't have to buy things that are "fat flattering". I'm in the overweight BMI category and I don't remember this weight ever in my life. I have more energy to play with my nephews and coach softball. -
Will I Ever be able to drink wine again?
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to icandoit!'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no issues drinking at all. I steer clear of all soda drinks, and it takes so much less to get drunk than it did before so i tend to take it easy. I can drink Moscato, mixed drinks, I don't drink beer so I don't know how I handle that. I do drink Ciders and there is no iproblem there either. -
@Nevermind and @tfarr For me the hair regrowth has been pretty sparse (possibly due to the post op hairloss and waxing combined), but I lay on the table one leg straight and the other crooked to the side, she does her business, switches legs, and for the back side It's not embarassing at all, I just have to hug my knees to my chest while still laying on my back and she waxes and the whole process takes about 15-20 minutes, it take a little bit longer the first time. I bought a groupon and did it that way to try it out and I ended up loving my waxer and am going to keep going with her. Funny enough I have an appt today! Also you may want to buy a roll on product called PFB (Amazon: $13) for after, you apply it daily after your shower and it keeps ingrowns from coming/being very bad. I use to get them in the worst way and now I don't.

Kind of having a bit of a breakthrough right now! I just realized that for the first time in my adult life, I am in the "Overweight" category and not the "Obese/Morbidly Obese" column. Kind of want to cry! =D

And So Our Journey Begins...
MistyAnnMoon829 replied to MistyAnnMoon829's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just had my 6 month checkup yesterday, and my labs came out great! The PA said I needed to up my Vitamin D by taking a supplement (but so does everyone really, her words.), increase my omega-3 by eating more fish or olive oil dishes or taking a vitamin, and to eat a bit more red meat/dark greens/beans. But nothing was really off at all. It was a really positive check up and I'll be seeing them again in July! I finally joined a gym, after months of saying it, my friend finally was like "I need to do this, are you in?" and I was. So we signed up for the local Fitness for $10, and my legs are in pain today, wasn't so bad on Monday, but this just proves that I am making progress. No pain no gain! I weighed in a 196.8 this morning, and that makes me over the moon happy! I think I can hit my long term goal of 169, I'd like to hit 150 just to see what it looks like, but I really think i'll be happy in the high 160's low 170's. I already look and feel great in the high 190's! -
I did it guys!! I hit Onederland on the last day of January and that was my goal. I was 199.4, and then this morning I was 197.4! I did it!!! O.O =D
