How long from first consult to surgery?
plumpypanda23 replied to nonsenseprecious's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! My first consultation was April 17 2014 and I was sleeved on June 2nd. So it took about a month and a half. I had BCBS MI and once I had all my requirements in (stress test, psych eval, medical clearance) I was approved the next day. Longest part was getting appointments set up to fit in my schedule or it would of been quicker. Hope all goes well for you! -
Sex after surgery
plumpypanda23 replied to Shiner86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I like your doctors! Lol mine told us to wait 5-6 weeks. I think he's nuts.. but 1-2 weeks sounds a lot more reasonable! -
GOT MY DATE!
plumpypanda23 replied to plumpypanda23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's wonderful!!!! Congratulations so far. The first few days when I was in pain I questioned my decision but it really does get better every day. Thank you for sharing your experience and for your positive words! I hope all continues to go well -
Today I got my date! I will be getting my sleeve on Monday June 2nd. I am so glad they had a date that wasn't too far away. It's actually in just a few short weeks! I was waiting for a few days and I thank god that I am now scheduled and ready to go. I'm excited. So, who else has their surgery on June 2nd?

Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
plumpypanda23 replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved June 2nd and it gets better every day! I used the liquid vicodin the day I came home but felt so nauseous I haven't taken it again. The pain is slowly going away and I'm starting to get all my liquids in!! I can't wait to be fully healed and back to a normal life! I love hearing how everyone is doing and how excited people are who are just starting their journey. Good luck everyone! -
Hello all! Although my surgery is not scheduled until June 2nd, I thought this was a post op question so I decided to post it here instead of the pre op section. I am sorry if it is in the wrong place. I was just wondering on how long it takes for all of the incisions to fully heal? I'm sure it takes a different amount of time for everyone but I was just wondering based on some of your guys experiences. Reason I ask is because at my pre op meeting my doctor explained that there is no bathing or swimming until all of the incisions are completely healed. And being that my surgery is in summer and I'm like a fish, I'd like to start swimming as soon as I'm able. I'm guessing probably around a few weeks or so. How long did it take for yours to all heal up? Thank you to all those who respond!

Two week liquid diet
plumpypanda23 replied to hirgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow congrats!! That's awesome. -
I was sleeved on Monday June 2nd. I only have 3 incisions. Two in my upper stomach and one in my belly button. Is it normal to only have 3? I thought there would be more. The incision in my belly button hurts the most and I am hoping my belly button recovers and goes back to normal. Because boy does it look funky now.. lol How long did the incision pain last? Especially the belly button one? when I walk and it hangs down it hurts quiet a bit. I'm just curious on when things should start looking up!!

Hello all! I had my surgery Monday June 2nd. I am finding it really hard, and I mean REALLY hard getting in any liquids. I maybe have in 4 oz of liquids so far today. I am very worried about the effects of barely drinking. I took my liquid pain medication last night and almost threw up. I felt so sick that I decided not to take anymore. I'm in pain but it's somewhat tolerable. I walk as much as possible and I am doing my breathing exercises so none of that is really a problem. Only issue is the liquids. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have to be at the hospital at 5:15am. I can't believe It's only 12 hours away. I am so nervous but excited. The typical feelings everyone has at this point. My sisters graduation was today so the whole family is having a bbq. Its very hard to watch them eat a ton of my favorite foods. I just know that I'm doing the best thing for myself and my surgery tomorrow will be the best decision I ever made. I just want to fast forward. I hope everything goes well and to all others who have their surgery soon I send my prayers and best wishes to you! Good luck everyone

12 more hours!
plumpypanda23 replied to plumpypanda23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went home today at around 5pm. I took some liquid vicodin the doctor gave me and felt like throwing up. I haven't been gassy or naseous at all. Except when I drank that medicine. I'm having a very hard time getting in fluids!! I haven't gotten barely anything in. But I am walking frequently and doing my breathing exercises. Still painful when walking and getting up and down. The pillow I hold to my belly helps a lot tho. Especially when I go to get up. I've been sleeping for a few hours at a time and then get up. Wish I could sleep longer. -

I finally had my surgery! At 7:30 this morning I was sleeved. At first I was in pain but not anymore. When I lay down I feel little to no pain. But when I stand up and walk or go to the bathroom thats a different story!! So far no complications and I've had some ice chips and a popsicle and those were fine. I'm nervous to try more things tomorrow. I believe I am going home tomorrow I hope everyones surgeries went well and all of you recover quickly. May god bless you all -
Two week liquid diet
plumpypanda23 replied to hirgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With my liquid diet it is only a week but I am able to eat unlimited amounts of raw or steamed vegetables. I can have limited amounts of plain nonfat yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, v8 juice, and low fat milk. 3-4 protein shakes a day and as much broth, jello, and popsicles I want. Has anyone else had a pre op like this? I'm on day 2 and so far it's not too bad. Certainly not pleasant but tolerable. My surgery is June 2nd!!! -
Yeah I am so excited! I started the liquid diet yesterday and that hasn't been fun. I also had my pre screening testing done today. I'm nervous but I know it's for the best! You had your surgery a few days ago? How are you feeling so far?

My doctor is Dr.Kole at St.John Providence in Madison Heights. I am having my surgery June 2nd. Everything about St.Johns Providence is great! They are super helpful and always make sure everything is right on track. I got insurance approvec super quick, they were on top of it all. Although I haven't had my surgery yet, I highly recommend St.Johns Providence with Dr.Kole or Dr.Katz. They are both wonderful!

Well idk about NJ, but I have BCBS MI and it took two days. So idk if that would be similar enough or not lol I don't know much about insurance. I hope you get approved quickly! Best of luck

Two week liquid diet
plumpypanda23 replied to hirgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes most of the time for the sleeve there is a two week pre liquid diet. Although it varies with different surgeons. MIne only requires one week liquid diet. Everyone has their own way of doing things but I'd say most require 1-2 weeks of a pre liquid diet. I start mine next Monday. I'm sure it is going to suck but I know it'll be worth it! -

2weeks and 2 months
plumpypanda23 replied to jdillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. Me too. Best of luck to you as well. Where are you at in this journey? I am just waiting to hear back from my insurance company. I finished all my pre op testing and requirements a few days ago and now all I have to do is wait and get a date! -
Wow lucky you! I wish they would call me soon lol. But I know I have to be patient. It'll all happen soon enough

Today everything was sent into my insurance. I have BCBS Michigan. I'm nervous but have been told there's no need to worry! I guess I'm just nervous because I'm only 19. I am 5'8 and 368lbs though. If approved (fingers crossed) I can't wait to get a date! I am so excited and ready like nothing before. My insurance only required a psychological evaluation and medical clearance from my primary health care physician. That's not that much stuff at all. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing lol This is my first post on here and I would love to make some pals! I have too much excitement and anticipation to keep it to myself. How long do you think it would take to get approved and get a date? I know all insurance companies are different. Thank you for any info or experience you can share
