anyone have a 1x per lifetime WLS with BCBS? I had lap band about 10 years ago and I'm waiting approval for removal of lap band to gastric bypass surgery . The lap band was covered under Aetna or some other insurance . Just curious if anyone received denial for both procedures.

So happy to have the band removed however find the weight is not coming off so fast. I had surgery June 10th 2014 and I'm down 30lbs. I feel like I can eat anything without getting sick. Just curious if others going from band to bypass experience the same. Thanks Jen -
August 6th lap band to gastric bypass surgery

I had lap band to bypass in the same surgery on June 10th. I'm down 30lbs and have been on a multi week stall. I've not encountered any issues and so happy to have the band out. Frustrated with the very slow weight loss. Anyone else experiencing this? -

I'm 6 weeks post op and everything went really well. I feel like one of the lucky ones. I went back to work after 2 weeks. My insurance did deny me at first due to a 1x per lifetime clause but I appealed and won. Stay positive !!! -

Lap Band revision to Gastric Bypass on 7/14. Anyone else in July?

I encourage you to appeal it. My plan had a 1 per lifetime clause. I went from lap band to bypass. My employer had to tell the insurance to grandfather me in. Best of luck!

Did the denial have anything to do with your benefits policy? If so, contact your Benefits Director or Manager and ask them if they will reverse the denial. I had to do that. I was denied and approved within a day. Don't give up. Hang in there .

Itchy, bruised belly - 6 days postop

I had itching like crazy too. The dr's office told me it was from the tape used to keep the gauze on. They removed it all and I put tripple antibiotic ointment on it, and the redness and itching went away too. -
I'm looking for responses on how long before you were able to go back to work after your surgery. I'm having the Lap Band removed and going to Gastric Bypass all in one surgery. My surgery is next Tuesday and I ball parked a June 23rd return to work date. Feedback and experience welcomed. Thanks, Jen

@@joy59 When I went in a year ago, I had the mindset of having the band removed and over to sleeve. My surgeon also suggested the bypass from the lap band. His main reason was that I would get the acid reflux like many do with the sleeve and I wouldn't get that with the bypass. On Tuesday of this week, I had the band completely removed and had the bypass. Feel pretty good. I plan to be back to work in two weeks.

Does anyone have a tracker that helps with getting into a routine for eating? I could use some organization help with making sure I get all my water and protein in. Thought I'd ask for help instead of reinventing the wheel. ????????

I had the band put in 9 years ago. I had a lot of heartburn and throwing up. I was thinking of have the sleeve as my sister lost 100+ lbs. I've decided to have gastric bypass as I was told I would not have acid reflux with it. I'm due to have surgery in the next month or so. -

Hi everyone, my name is Jen. Just curious as to how many post op folks used the Abdominal Binder after WLS? Also, I'm going from the band to Gastric Bypass. How many of you had the same revision in one surgery and do you believe your recovery was longer/more painful? I'm a single mom of a 15 year old boy. After my 2 night stay in the hospital, I'm on my own at home. Is this doable? -
