Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers
4andcounting replied to lylabelle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Still stuck but I do have a NSV yesterday........ My husband and I were folding clothes and he said I can't tell your jeans from our son's jeans anymore. You are wearing a size close to his they look the same to me. What is so wonderful about this is that my son weighs 94 lbs. So I know I do not wear anything close to him but it was so nice that my husband thinks I do An another NSV I ate salad yesterday and today and it went down easily and tasted yummy! As far as weird side effects. Yes I have a couple that even through all my research I didn't realize. One was all the emotional crap I go through. No I am not sad about food, but I can get my feelings hurt pretty easily. it was much worse the first month or two but I am still a little more sensative than usual even right now. I smell odd sometimes and I have no idea why. I even asked my kids and my husband if they noticed and they finally admitted they did. I am HOPING that's only temporary. I was prepared for my hair to fall out but it has gotten frizzy and very unhealthy looking also. I have to admit that I regretted the surgery at first for even longer than most people. I am actually JUST NOW feeling happy about my decision. -

I vomited a lot during the second and third months. Now its very rare. I do know what you mean about that feeling though. When I was vomiting pretty often, I have to admit that sometimes I was making myself to get rid of that feeling. I have learned now when to stop or slow down so I don't get that feeling. I actually get a different feeling now when I know its time to stop. The food starts to taste bad. Have you noticed any changes like that? It could be a signal if you look for it. Still stuck! 7 weeks now! When will this stall break?? I have to say though that I decided to take advantage of this stall and actually bought some clothes. I am loving the way clothes fit now and LOVE shopping the regular women section and buying what I want NOT what will actually fit. No more crazy ugly patterns. I have some really cute stuff and I am happy to strut around and take pics in them! -

Still getting notifications. I am 58 lbs down been here for about 6 weeks now. Does anyone care to list a "typical" food day for you? I am looking for new ideas. Getting tired of the same things all the time. Also what is everyone doing for exercise these days? -

My hair is falling out really badly also. When I take a shower I pull clumps of hair out of my head. It is so bad that my 9 year old asked me if I am sick. I have been taking Biotin but it doesn't seem to help. I agree that its probably to early to do that sleeve test thing but thank you for explaining what it is! Maybe I will try it if I don't start moving again here in a week or so. I was hoping to make it 6 months before I had to do anything drastic. Yea I am trying to be patient LOL. I was the few weeks cuz I knew I would hit a stall eventually since I hadn't yet but these last 2 weeks have driven me crazy. You are correct there is no way I could have lost the 58 I have lost on my own and I am so thankful for that loss! The downside for me is that I only weighed 103 lbs until about 8 years ago so I am no where close to my lowest adult weight. I don't want to be at that weight anyways but if I could lose another 30 I would be very satisfied! -

I am taking in between 500 and 800 calories a day. Still stuck on the same number I have been at for 5 weeks now I am happy to have lost what I have lost and could not have done it without the surgery but I am just ready for this stall to be over! Has anyone else has a stall that lasted this long? -

First there is a difference between not sugar coating and being rude. Perhaps my word choice was part of the issue. I said not losing like I was I should have said not losing at all. But as I said I was feeling down that day and just put my feelings out there not thinking about how it might be perceived. This thread is supposed to be for us to support each while we go through this at the same time, or at least I thought. WhoKnows, thank you very much! My feelings weren't really hurt. I was actually kinda pissed because I thought who are you to make the assumption that I am not knowledgable about a huge surgery that I spent 6 months researching before I even attempted to have it. I had to change my response because my initial response was pretty hateful. LOL No worries all is good -

Thank you WhoKnows! I appreciate your post!! I was just feeling frustrated and down on the day I made that post. I know stalls are normal but it doesn't make them any less difficult to deal with especially when you are watching what you eat and exercising. I have to stop myself from going into self pity mode! I know I will start losing again I was just being a whiner on that day! -

I DO understand the process actually. And after my initial huge loss the first few weeks I have been steadily losing 8 to 10 lbs a month. The problem is that I haven't lost a single pound in a month now. I was just looking for support (I thought that's why this website was here) not really expecting to be chastised for my assumed lack of knowledge. Thanks for the support. -

Not losing weight like I was and starting to get upset. I know this is a marathon and not a sprint but I am not losing like I was but I haven't changed anything. -

I bought a cookie dough Quest bar and I actually liked it! Its the first protein bar that I have liked. I also bought a brownie one but did not like it. So I am going to order a box of the cookie dough ones. Thanks everyone! -

Thanks everyone! You have given me some ideas of things I should try to eat. I was drinking coffee in the morning but did not do that this morning to see if maybe that is what could be upsetting my stomach. Those of you who eat protein bars, what kind do you eat? -
May 2014 Sleevers, what are you eating?
4andcounting replied to 4andcounting's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ever since the first two weeks I gag on Protein shakes. I really only eat yogurt and cheese so maybe it could be a lactose intolerance, I hadn't thought of that. But even chicken hurts me. -

I am really struggling to eat. I was doing really well until about 2 weeks ago. Now it seems that everything I try to eat makes me sick. My stomach hurts ALL the time. -

May 27th sleever. What are you guys eating? I was doing really well now it seems like everything bothers me -
Well if you are fine without weighing then maybe you shouldn't. I wish I was!
-
HAHAHA I would so go buy a new one! I weigh every morning and every night. Even if I didn't want to my husband religiously asks me. He is just trying to be supportive but its annoying when the scale hasn't moved and he asks.
-
I weigh myself obsessively, wish I could stop! I am still losing but much slower then I was. I was losing a pound a day. Now its a pound every few days. I am worried that I am not getting enough but the Dr said as long as I don't get dizzy I am fine. I eat when I am hungery also it is usualy just half of a light yogurt or something about the same calorie wise when I eat. Can't wait for this journey to get easier! Do you ever wish you hadn't done it? I did all the time at first now just like once a week. I am looking forward to the day when I can say it was the best decision I ever made.
-
I was 8 weeks on Tuesday. I am getting better but still cannot eat or drink like I am supposed to. I am afraid I won't lose if I don't get the Protein in, Right now I am getting between 400 and 500 calories. How many are you eating? No I didn't try heating it after but I did think about trying it. That stuff is just so expensive I hate to keep wasting it!
-
I tried the chicken soup right after surgery and did not like it. Its worth trying again. I have found my tastes have changed since those first few weeks. I tried the unflavored in a bottle of flavored Water I felt it had a horrible after taste but I should probably try again. I found out if I heat up the milk and try to drink the unjury chocolate I like the taste BUT it doesn't mix very well and the chunks make me sick. Eating and drinking have been a huge struggle for me.
-
Thank you! I have a really hard time with protein. I gag on every shake I try so maybe these will help.
-
Where can you get them? Do they have to be ordered online?

8 weeks and 40 pounds
4andcounting replied to MichelleBryant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like we are all doing about the same. I don't get my protein or my water in and exercise is only sporadic. What protein are you guys drinking? I was doing Unjury but it is making me sick. I am just now able to take my chewable vitamins. My blood work all came back ok so I guess I am not doing as bad as I feel like I am.
