Well good luck to you on ur weigh in. Great on the weight loss. Im happy as long as the scale keeps moving. I make it an effort to only weigh once a week although i catch myself sometimes stepping on it early. Lol. I am lucky that my kids still at home are a little older, 14 and 12 so they can stay home alone. Super busy here too with kids stuff. So i feel for ya. At my 3 month they encouraged me to stay around 900 calories but to make sure i get at least 60g of protein. I shoot for 80-100 except for days like today when i dont even wanna eat. I track everything. I'm big on the whole calories in calories out things so i work out whether i want to or not. Again good luck on Thursday and hope to hear how you do. -

Hey KayleeC14 and MIMomaof2. I hope your week was good. Haven't really heard out of ya this week so I though I'd check in. I did my weigh in on thursday and had lost 4lbs last week. That was awesome. So current weight is 263, down 94 now and Sunday is 5 month post. I have having really good gym days this week. Although I didnt want to go today, i got up and went anyway and did a good workout. I am having one of those dont feel like eating days. Got my protein in but not enough calories. Tried the new dannon light and fit greek yogurt and its quite good. Higher in protein amd lower in calories so i think im gonna eat that for a while intead of my yoplait 100's. I am now at 50% of my goal and today i bought a new pair of Danskin pants. XL 16/18. That makes this last week of hell worth it for me. Well I hope all is good with you. I'll check back in later. Have a great week. -
I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!
kimba6999 replied to Tartan-Tiger's topic in Rants & Raves
I dont care what other people think either but i wouldnt say this is easier by any means. I lost alot of weight over the years but i could just never keep it off. I work harder at this than i ever had at doin it naturally. Between the exercise 5-6 days a week and the portion control and counting calories and working on my mental life change it is a full time job. Shopping takes longer and if you have a family, there is alot of change to take place there too. I mean i did calories and portioning before but when u get tired of it you just quit. You cant just quit this. What we all have gotten is a gift and a tool to make this process easier to handle but to say its easier? I personally dont think so Maybe once we get to maintenance phase it will become easier and the way of life but not now. Just my opinion... -
If you r only 3 weeks out u should be on soft or pureed foods. Meatballs shouldnt be eaten yet. Actually any red meats in general. Nice soft turkey or chicken like roasted or rotisserie. Deli meat is also a good option. Doesnt the NUT give you guidelines? I know every doctor is different but the eating guidelines dont change. If you want the best results you should follow it all the way! Not trying to be negative just trying to be helpful. Your body has been through a huge change and it needs time to get back.

Wow, i feel for all you guys. As i have gotten older and have gotten heavier(now 45 and beginning weight 356) my periods were so up in the air and sometimes went for 7-10 days and were so heavy on days i couldnt leave the house! Since surgery (5mo. Post op) i have leveled out and im back to my 3-4 days and maybe one of them a medium heavy day. I dont take birth control of any kind right now cuz i dont want it interferring with my loss. This has been a life saver in that department. Good luck to all of u.

I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!
kimba6999 replied to Tartan-Tiger's topic in Rants & Raves
I do believe this is the best tool. Has it been easier than all my previous attempts? I say yes but my mindset is in the right place this time as well. It is not the easy way out by any means. I have worked harder than i ever have at anything but its tue best decision i have ever made. People in our shoes dont understand what we have gone through to finally choose this route. Am i proud of how i got to this place? No! I have/had a lot of issues but ultimately i did this to me and i have tried to fix it on my own. Just like all people need help at on time or another, i needed this surgery to help me. If people cant understamd that then they arent worth your time or breath. If they are overweight and taking stabs at you then they are either jealous that you took your life by the horns or they are just happy being miserable and they want all aroind them to share in their miserableness. You just keep on doing the right thing for you. Its all about you. Remember that!! -

I too work out 5-6 days a week. Shooting for 170 myself. Unfortunately at my age and for carrying so long i will have to have all mine excess removed surgically. I wish i could look like you when i hit goal naturally but isnt gonna happen for me. I only weigh in once a week on thursday. I do strength training and cardio everyday but heavy strength 3 days out of the 5. Keep up the work and congrats again. -

If they are a thicker shake try thinning them out a little more. I make my shakes homemade and they are good for 2 meals. It is about 45g of protein. I use about 3-4oz skim milk, about 1/2c nonfat plain greek yogurt, a scoop of whey protein (i use Body Fortress), and frozen berries so its more like and ice cream shake. About 1/2 berries. My goto is about 3 frozen strawberries and half a small banana. I use my bullet to quick mix and it is yummy. Greek yogurt is a staple in my diet. Very high in protein. Plain is also a good substitute for sour cream and makes a good veggie dip when mixed with ranch. U can get ur protein in without shakes. There is a product out there called Health Wise and they are high protein low calories meals and snacks. I use their hot cocoa which is 15g of protein and 90 cal. They have all kinds of foods. Its what i had to use for my pre op diet and even now i still use some of the products. 4 meals a day at 15g each will get u your minimum intake. It gets easier as you get further. I am almost 5 months post and still do a shake about 3 times a week. I am down 92lbs to date so it works. I current shoot for 80-100g myself and exercise 5 days a week. You can do it! Keep up the good work. Its early for you so give it some time.

Welcome to our little group. I too am familiar with where u live. 3 months, awesome! That is some good weight loss. I live in muskegon but had mine done in grand haven with Dr Foote. They are an awesome group. Heard alot about dr gluck but i know dr foote is one of the leading bariatric surgions for the sleeve and after alot of research i chose him. Feel free to share anything u want on here. We are all excited to be.on this journey so the more the merrier. I too doing a 5k walk/run in july kicking off the coast guard fetival in grand haven. I am hoping to run a little but mostly walking. It is also a color run for the kids so my kids will also be joining me and hoping my friends will do it with me. I have had a ton of support on my journey so far. Unfortunately i am in the process of going through a divorce but he has still been supportive. Good luck and keep going. I didnt really start having to shop for new clothes til i was about 3 months post and now i just have been flying thru the sizes. Ive dropped about 12 sizes so far. -
I keep my before pic posted and every 6 wks i take a new pic and post it. By the time im done my whole wall will be filled. I also keep my weekly weight posted for all to see. I keep it all on the wall by my fridge. It is my go to when i think about eating what i shouldnt. I looked like a butterball and cant believe how i let myself go. I will never go bacl to that. Thats my go to. I love this site too. Everyone is so encouraging and upbeat in their comments to help. Good luck to u

I fully agree with moon on this. I was in the process of therapy when i was encouraged by my therapist to do the surgery. I was already dealing with my issues so this was the next logical step. This surgery is not a fix all. If you dont deal with the issues that contributed to the weight then it will never work. This is a total lifestyle change and can be life altering if you take advantage of all thats available. I dont know about you guys but we had to see a therapist before being approved. If they saw one with all their issues and was still approved that doctor needs to find a new one. I know some have continued getting help through the procedure and continuing with therapy after and more power to them. We all have issues or we wouldnt be here right? Good luck to all and i really hope u wdll on this journey.

Who Are You Telling / Who Did You Tell?
kimba6999 replied to mnmlst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told everyone! I have struggled for so long i am dang proud! Its not their life so who cares what they think? I even tell strangers if they question. I just carry my before pic and then they understand. I have had alot of support but i know there are always gonna be negative nancy's. To them i say you live your life your way and i will live my way. Either support me or move out of my way cuz im only moving forward. Good luck to you -
You should be eating 4 times a day about every 3 hours or so. Your goal should be 60 grams of protein daily. The more water u drink the less of an appetite you'll feel. Protein first, then other foods. Proteins will help keep u feelong fuller longer. Good luck

I use plain nonfat greek yogurt for my Protein shakes and yopait 100's. I prefer the strawberry. These two yogurts are staple in my diet. U do need to watch the sugar on all of them. Some flavors are higher than others in sugar. I am almost 5 months post nd down 92lbs so its working. Good luck, you're almost there.

Know exactly how u feel. I flew for the first time in 20 yrs in april. I didnt need to ask for one either. It rocked. I even was able to walk through the aisle without having to do it sideways. Congrats!
