The Two Week Milk Diet
kimba6999 replied to luckyknickers57's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just a little FYI, if you are eating healthy whole foods you dont really need to worry about carbs. I do not count them still am am 6 months post and down 104lbs so it works. I just concentrate on my proteins and i dont eat processed foods so carbs arsnt an issue. The ones i get are the good slow burning ones that your body needs. Focus on eating chicken turkey and fish. All are high in protein. U also say u are working long hours. Make sure u arent skipping meals and eating about 4 times a day. Not eating regularly can cause a stall or even a gain cuz ur body will go into storage mode. Good luck to u. -

What are you eating and are u doing any sort of exercising with your eating regimen? You should be focused really only on protein packed food rigut now. You are still really early on but you should be losing some weight. One other question, even tho u see no movement on the scale how are your clothes fitting. Do they feel like they are getting loser? What is this sample menu they gave you? Will wait to hear back -
U look fantastib bea!!! What an inspiration.

My husband had left me for someone younger and i was feeling pretty low. That was 2 yrs ago inmarch but he has never filed for divorce. I have 4 children and 2 are his and 2 from my first marriage. I didnt become heavy until i got pregnant with my first child in 1989 and then i had a life changing accident in 1993,a few months after my second child was born. I shattered my left lower leg and screwed up my knee at only 24yrs old. Over the yrs i continued to gain and lose until finally i had enough. I used.my bad leg anf knee as an excuse. My weight was never an issue in my marriage though. I sought out counseling because i wasnt letting go of my husband. As i started to realize how dependant i was i also started looking at myself and why i dont lose weight. I have never been important to me. My kids and marriage always came first. I thought about my kids and how if i kept on this path i wasnt going to be around for them much longer. My therapist also happens to be the therapist for the bariatric clinic i went through. She talked me about considering surgery during a session. She thought with all of my yoyo over the years that it was time i started taking care of me. She was right! I realized then and there that if i wanted to ever truly be happy and be there for all my kids that now was the time for me to taoe control of my life. So last Dec i had my surgery. It has been almost 6 months. None of my kids have ever seen me healthy. Now i play with them amd run around with them and enjoy life with them instead of watching them enjoy life without me. Oh, and right after my surgery I filed.for divorce. I need to move on and be happy. So my turning point was the thought of not being around for my kids. Im gonna be a grandma soon and now i will be able to enjoy playing with him too...no fat grandma!! SW 356 CW 252 GW 170

4 wks post surgery, gaining weight and panicking
kimba6999 replied to Happygoomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello and sorry to hear your troubles. I am just about 6 months post and i have had a couple of stalls during my journey. You mentioned you r havinf problems getting in ur protein? From experience i can tell you that not getting in ur minimum could be causing the problem. It is very important to get in your Proteins. I know you are still newly starting but do what it taoes to get in ur protein. I eat 800-900 cal a day on avg and i eat 80-100g of protein a day so it is possible. Just choose food high in protein, low in fat and low in sugar. I do not count carbs but thats because i dont eat things carb related. I eat whole foods, i occassionally eat a slice of bread but whole wheat or have mashed potatoes but homemade no box. So my carbs are healthy carbs. You will have stalls, its part of losing weight in any form. Just dont get discouraged. My NUT told me that your body will acclimate so you need to change things up every 4-6 wks. So i change up my exercise routine and my eating plan so my body no longer has time to adjust. Gotta keep her guessing! This was not a waste for you. Just eat high protein and get at least 64oz of Water and get in exercise daily. Once you can start really working out get yourself a good routine and as a suggestion for exercise, do your research! I warm up and the do strength training and then my cardio. You will burn alot more calories and for a much longer period. I feel being well informed on this journey is the key to success. Just stay positive and tell that doctor to take a hike. My surgeon is one of the leading surgeons on gastric surgery. His team has done some of the most ground breaking surgeries in thi field. I have had the greatest success with the team here. They are here for every worry and question i can think of and kindly help. I also agree with a previous post about a support group. It will really help you to find one around you. You need the support especially early on when you have so many questions. I hope this encourages you. If you have the time just do some research. Remember to stick to high protein, chicken, turkey, fish, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, whey protein isolates, and more. Good luck and if you need help or have questions and i can be of service plz feel free to ask. I will help if i can. Btw, i started at 356 and am now 252. Down 104 in just under 6 months, so doing what ur supposed to does work. Let me know how your doing in the time ahead. -
What do you love about your new personality?
kimba6999 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am now just about 6 months post and boy have I changed not only on the outside but on the inside. Before i never gave much thought to my appearance. I would go out in sweats and a t-shirt and slippers with my hair in a pony tail. Always knew people would snicker or make comments under their breath. Now, i take pride in how i look. I get dressed and brush my hair and put on male up most days. I no longer own a pair of sweats but still have lots of t-shirts for the gym. I feel better about myself and hold myself better. I dont mind people looking at me because i know where i was and where im going. I have lost 104lbs and feel wonderful. I still weigh 250,but carry myself like im 150! I feel sexy and it shows in my personality. I am much more confident and my friends tell me they love the new me. I honestly never thought i could ever be this person again but i love me now. No longer the ashamed fat girl. I have even inspired several of my friends to get back to a healthy weight because of my positive attitude. There have just been so mamy changes in such a short time. Not only have i cleaned out my literal closet but also my emotional closet. Just let the past go and live for the future. Good luck to all of you on this wonderful journey! -

Ok Alicia, I hope this helps you. Don't starve or dehydrate yourself. As long as you are eating the right foods then your body will do the rest. Hopefully your doctor gave you some sort of plan for what is healthy and high in protein to eat and what to stay away from. Dont make yourself sick with worry. I am almost 6 months post and eat just about anything. Its a new thing so you will have to experiment to see what your body can tolerate. I know you are still a newbie but EAT. Just stick to foods high in protein, low in fat and sugar. No fried foods!! Veggies are great if u tolerate them but make sure ur proteins come first. Minimum of 60g and 64oz of water. I drink a bottle first thing in the morning, between meals and one before bed. I have been doing 80-100g per day since about day 6 and i worked up to now drinking 6 or more bottles a day of water. I am now down 104lbs and im doing great so dont be afraid to eat. Just monitor it so its healthy. Your body will let u know when yohve eaten enough, trust me. Good luck to you and I hope you get through this ok. -

Wow! Awesome! So proud of you! Isnt hitting a milestone and awesome feeling? I know how you feel. A couple of weeks ago i played kickball with all of.my kids for the first time ever with them. My kids have never seen me run. I was outfielding amd kicking and running all the bases. Just feels so good to do things doesnt it. Like i say, its nice to actually be living life again instead of sitting on the sidelines watching life go on around u. Congrats again and good luck with the weightloss. -

What do you miss most after Weight Loss Surgery?
kimba6999 replied to Menelly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What is with all the sipping! Unless u are fairly newly sleeved u should be able to drink water fairly normally with the exception of guzzling your water. I and i know of many more that take a good drink everytime. So if ur new hang in there. You will have to test urself every so often til u drink what u can handle in one hit. Good luck -

The Two Week Milk Diet
kimba6999 replied to luckyknickers57's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I dont know if this will help but i take just over the counter vitamins. I do a womens one a day multi vitamin and a generic calcium. I was told we need 1500mg a day. My NUT says to figure what i am eating during the day and suppliment it with calcium. I usually eat about 1000mg a day so i take one 500mg a day. They work great. I have an awesome team for.my bariatric clinic so i would be happy to help with wuestions if i can. Also if u do not eat ur 60g of protein minimum u will sit in a stall If u starve urself u wont lose either cuz ur body will go into starvation storage mode. U need ur protein amd water. -

What do you miss most after Weight Loss Surgery?
kimba6999 replied to Menelly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly i really thought i was gonna miss the binge eating late at night when everybody went to bed. Stuffing my face with sugary foods till i felt sick. After the surgery food isnt really that appealing to me. I like to have the occasional nice meal but now i eat to live. I do miss being able to down a bottle of Water but dont miss pop at all. I loved pop too but it was a great compromise to feel the way i do now. I would do it again in a heart beat to feel this good. Its just people dont like the thought of not having things. U will eventually be able to drink pop again. Would we recommend it? Heck no! Not worth the trouble it gets u into. Good luck and dont think of things as a loss but what u r getting as a great gain! -
Congrats to all today. I hit 99lbs lost today. So dang close. Just missed it. Theres akways next week. Have a great weekend.

My love for food---Hopeing it changes!
kimba6999 replied to Time4Kindness's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thats the best way to do it. Start now and by time u actually have to u wont miss anything. Makes it so much easier. I went thru a week of eating all my favorites, kind of like a good bye for a while. Then about a month before my preop diet i just let go of everything. I know some day i will be able to have some of them again just not plates of them. My appetite went almost completely good bye. Some days i eat just to get my protein in. But dont get me wrong, i still enjoy food. Just have those days. I honestly never thought there'd be a time when i didnt look forward to a fat plate of food, lol, but here i am. I am 5 1/2 months post op and loving myself and my new life. Down 99lbs today. Never been happier. Good luck to u. -
We all must remember too that as we all reach our goal weight many of the foods we love will be available to us. We can all still enjoy eating just about everything, it just wont be by the huge plate full. I am 5 1/2 months post and i am enjoying taking my kids out to eat. I am just more selective and take the majority of it home. Its nice for a couple more meals and already cooked! Just warm amd go. Dont look at somethimg and say we will never be able to eat it again but rather we will eat it again but under more control. Good luck to us all.

Well traci, are u getting enough good proteins and water? If it is nice outside open up you house and let the fresh air in. It may be that you need to force yourself to get out. Once you do it may help you feel better. Also are you doing your daily walking so your body can get moving and heal better? Sometimes your body and mind just need that push. Thd more active you are and the better you are eating can make a world of difference. This is a new life and it's time to live it!! You can do this!
