Hello to all. Havent been on for a bit. Been so super busy. I decided to go back to work full time so been busy with that, the kids, and my journey. Heres my update. I went into a 3-4 week stall for most of june and was so disgusted. I had my 6 month post op on the 25th of june and was down 102lbs. I talked to the NUT and apparently i was eatting too few calories for my lifestyle. I was eatting about 900-1000 a day but burning almost that in the gym so my body was actually going into storage mode. I eat well just high protein and low cal foods. She gave me some quick fixes to get in the extra cal. I just didnt want to eat empty cal. She said if i up it and thats the problem i will notice it in 3-4 days. Sure enough, by the beginning of July the lbs started dropping. I am now down 114lbs and my 7 month post is today, friday. I am so happy thats all it was. I am now 242 and can wear XL clothes now. Down from a 4X shirt and size 30 pants. I can also wear a size 16/18 pant dependong on the style. Still have some hips to lose but its going quick enough. Oh, and im doing my first ever 5K next saturday at the opening of the coast guard festival. I am doing it with mltye bariatric clinic i go to. I had Dr Foote for any who dont know. Absolutely magnificent. If any of u would like to join, it would be nice to meet you. Or come on down and cheer us on! NOCH Bariatric Clinic. We will be wearing t-shirts for the clinic. Good luck to all and woupd love to hear any updates from y'all on here. Have a great weekend. -

You're not eatting too much. Eat what ur body can tolerate. It will tell u when u feel full. Eat slow and enjoy ur new life and body. I dont really measure by cups. I do ounces. The further out u get the more u can eat. I eat 4 to 5 meals a day and usually 4-6 oz. Just keep it high in protein. Good luck to you -

I usually do 4 to 5 small meals but not quite that small. I do 4-6oz about. Maybe too much milk product if that is the norm for u. It can create gas or bloating. I do 1 cup greek yogurt about once a day. Try eatting eggs or omelets for a channge. Turkey is also good. Try changing up ur diet to see if that will help witht the gas. Also i drink a bottle of water between every meal toale sure i get at least my 64oz. Make sure ur are regualr too if u know what i mean. Not going more than a couple days between bowel movements. That can cause stomach cramping or pain too. Good luck -

What are u eatting on a normal basis?! Ur about 10 wks out correct? Your body is going through some major changes and some foods ur body may not want to handle just yet. I for one still dont eat more than a few ounces at a time. I feel full but stop when i feel full. I eat small meals and several times a day. Let me know. -
CW - 244 I love these challenges!! Thanks so much

post op from April 29th
kimba6999 replied to mommamel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sarem: you're not gonna stretch ur stomach! I was eating 80-90G of protein a day at that point. 4 meals a day. If solid food i could eat about 3-4 oz and if liquid i could do about 8-10 oz. Just stick to the eatting plan the doc gave you, hopefully they gave u some sort of plan, and you'll be fine. Your body will tell you when youve had enough to eat. Just eat slowly and keep it healthy high protein foods. I hiccup when my tummy is full. Also drive plenty of water. Dont forget the exercise, lots of cardio and strength. Good luck to you. -

Stall EVERY 3 weeks?
kimba6999 replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same at about 6 wks for 2 weeks. The scale didnt show but my clothes were fitting looser. I didnt count calories until i hit about 4 months. Just concentrate on ur protein intake and make sure u are exercising. Walking and doing some strength in tue arms, just dont tax ur core till at least 6 wks or the doc says to go for it. Dont let this hinder ur progress. Just do what ur supposed to do and it will start again. Im 6 months and 104 down so it will happen. Good luck -
Stall EVERY 3 weeks?
kimba6999 replied to Pretty_In_Purple's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't ever regret the surgery. I too am in a 3 wk stall right now. It happens. Ur doc and NUT and exercise physiologists are there just for that. Ask what u may need to do to get it jump started again. Look at ur protein intake or ur exercises. Maybe u jeed to up ur protein or cal or changr up ur exercise routine. I knew mine was coming. I have dropped 104lbs in less than 6 months so i was waiting for this to happen. When i was early on and i stalled i just did some extreme changes to my exercise and diet and within a week i was losing again. This has been my longest stall but it was because my calorie intake was too low for my activity. I have upped it so hopefully my weigh in thos week will reflect it. Do not get discouraged. It will move again. Just take ur life into ur hands and see what u need to change and do it!! Good luck -
12 weeks- attempt @ lettuce fail
kimba6999 replied to mon_jam74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 months post and cant tolerate lettuce either. I can eat any other veggie or fruit and am fine. I love to sneak my veggies and fruits in as my snacks and eat protein packed meals. I use nonfat greek yogurt and ranch packets to make a good dip and then eat them that way. Not seeing salads in my future ever again since i dont really like spinach. My tummy makes lots of noise when i eat fruit or veggies that are water packed. Good luck to u! -
Surgery in a month and wondering about protein?
kimba6999 replied to nelady's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love the body fortress whey protein. It is tasty and makes a great shake. I mix nonfat plain greek yogurt about 1/2-3/4 cup, a little skim milk (3oz), the protein and a little fruit. Its bout 300 cal, depending on the fruit u use and big enough for 2 meals and about 45g of protein. I also just mix it with some plain greek yogurt and it sweetens it and gives u a good protein pack. (1c yogurt and half a scoop protein). You can also get an unflavored protein at GNC or use unjury. You can mix it with food for the protein. Also a Tbls or 2 of dry milk in ur oatmeal or Cereal or potatoes can give u some added protein. Good luck to you. -
Sry, my pre op diet was a high protein diet. I was told to take health wise products. I ate good and 6 times a day. I had protein bars, pasta, soups, chili, hot chocolate, cookies, chips and other stuff but it was all that product. I ate 700-900 cal a day and 60-90g of protein a day and it tasted great! Really got me ready for post op protein rich eatting. I loved it! Lost 23lbs on it. I still use some of the products even now.

Get ready to rumble!
kimba6999 replied to ShelbyLynne710's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on Protein drinks from day 2 after surgery. The day of surgery i could only have ice chips but by the next morning they started bringing me Protein Drinks, an ounce at a time. Its weird to hear that u guys r all doing liquids for the first few days but no protein. I try to stay away from fake sugars. I use stevia if i need to sweeten. I do eat some yogurt with fructose in it but stay clear of the fake stuff. By day 5-6 i was drinking 80-90g of protein and getting in almost all of my water. Do most doctors start u out that way? I was pretty much healed by 4 wks and was able to go to the gym and exercise as long as i didnt strain my ab area. I have lost 104lbs in the last 6 months and doing good. I have noticed in reading that so many doctors do it so differently. I love the team i have and they have had major success with it. Good luck to all. -
I lost 23lbs on my 2 wk pre op diet. It was a wondeeful start to.my new life!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!! My name is Kim and I'm 6 months post op. I started my journey at 356 and am now down 104lbs and still going. I have had an awesome journey thus far. If I can help you in any way please feel free to reach out. Id be happy to talk or answer questions or just listen. Good luck to you and hope to hear from you. -
Its the swollowimg they worry about. You are freshly fixed and stapled and if u accidentally swollow gum u could cause problems with ur incisions. I too lived on my gum to keep my mouth busy but i made it thru, so can u. If u are doing all u can to get in ur protein amd water then that will fill all ur time. Just drink water when u feel u need something. Honestly i was never hungry after surgery. I just drank lots of waterin between my protein drinks. At about day 5 i was drinking 80-90g of protein and drinking my 64 oz of water. You can do it without the gum. Just find new ways to stay busy and refocus ur efforts from food.

Knowing what you know now.......
kimba6999 replied to mochax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mourn your food losses before surgery. I did this and boy was it easy after surgery to not crave or go back to them. Treat them like a loved one who is dying. Mourn them and say your good byes and move on. Dont try to do anything cold turkey. Make sure u get in ur protein from the first and make sure u get in ur walks. The more active u are and the more protein u get in the faster u will heal but dont overdo it with exercise to fast. Find the protein u will like and be able to tolerate for the first 2 wks. -
Congrats Janetprn. So happy to hear. I cant wait til thats me saying i reached my goal.
