Can't urinate? & so nauseous
rtzj9 replied to AWD12368's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the "can't go pee" syndrome whenever I take Vicodin; it's a good indication that I'm over medicated. Try backing off your pain meds and just take some Tylenol. -
What foods made you dump?
rtzj9 replied to Lthomas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GS 6/12/14 - any high fat food or high carb count gets me nauseous and sweaty. I tried Avocado, that was the worst. Corned beef hash, salami, and cream cheese. Hope this helps. -
Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
rtzj9 replied to KimGettingSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GS 6/12/14 - I am eating small curd low fat cottage cheese, mixed protein powder into sugar free puddings and jello, sliced deli turkey, fat free Greek yogurt, baked beans, frozen fully cooked meatballs and grilled chicken, home made sloppy joe with no bread, meat only chili, scrambled eggs, hummas with a few low fat pita chips, and some low fat frozen yogurt. Hope this helps. -
I have a good amount of clothing ranging in sizes 30/32 & 26/28. I would be happy to sell or swap clothing with those in need. All my clothes are well cared for or dry cleaned.

Does Gastric Sleeve Surgery "cure" diabetes?
rtzj9 replied to MINI-Me's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
First doctor I saw the morning after surgery was from the diabetes service. He told me that I was smart to have WLS before I had too many complications with my diabetes and that these surgeries are the best tool they have found for resolving (his word not mine) diabetes. The statistics for resolution of typeII are DS = 99%, RnY = 97%, GS = 61% and LB is under that but no firm % has been excepted. My surgeon required an A1c of 7 or below before scheduling surgery. This took almost a year for me to go from 11.9 to 6.7 and required me to be on a liquid protein diet for nearly the last three months exclusively. My first fasting sugar after surgery was 125. Over the next 24 hours with little food and no meds my sugars slowly rose and was discharged with a medication and insulin plan. Over the last month I have been watching sugars closely and have stabilized with medications alone. The only advice I have for someone considering WLS is to be honest with yourself, can you control your sugars now and are you willing to do the work after the surgery to perhaps resolve your diabetes but most definitely roll back the clock on possible complications. -
Hello all. My gastric sleeve was done 6/12/14 at UofC, with Dr..Alverty. Other than driving there from the northwest suburbs, I have been very happy with UofC. They have an open support group meeting first Tuesday of the month at 1 PM. I am looking for possibly a mentor or a more frequent support group.

Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

My surgery was June 12. I seem to be right on track, having lost 10 pounds so far. Cleared to start walking on the treadmill so, that should improve weight loss. I lost 65 pounds prior to the surgery. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
rtzj9 replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oddly I gained three pounds in the third week post-op. A week later it disappeared. I would not attribute this gain to hormonal changes as I am post menopausal. I have several autoimmune diseases and I am inclined to believe that this sudden weight gain is related to inflammation.
