  1. Happy 53rd Birthday Sheila Davies!

  2. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary Sheila Davies!

  3. Mitcha I realize it has been a long time responding to this post. I would like to join one of your coffee's if you still have them to discuss the band. I was banded in September last year and it really hasn't done alot for me to date. I realized finally that I was working it wrong. Anyways if you do get this please let me know. Thanks Sheila
  4. Hi There I am back from a weeks vacation. I stopped over for a fill on my way and now I am at 5.7 cc. Still not right. I called Tammy today in Mississauga and we have scheduled another fill next Tuesday. She said not to get discouraged we will get it. It is discouraging because I am taking the train everytime I have to go and it is a full day trip. I hope my sweet spot it almost feeling sweet. I also feel that the amount of money that I paid for the band I will keep going back until I am 80 if I have to to get it right. I have lost maybe 1 pound since post op which was the beginning of September. Not very good. Anyways, I would be very interested in getting together for coffee and discuss everyones experiences and maybe we can creat a great London support group. Let me know.
  5. Cindy Thank you for the information about the beer. Someday when I really feel like one I might give it a try. I am going for my second fill on October 16th. Please let me know how you feel tomorrow after you fill, if you don't mind and if you have a chance. I can still fit anything down.

    Where is your port?

My port is about 2 inches from my belly button. I can actually feel it. When I had my fill yesterday the nurse said it was an easy fill because it was right there. Lucky I guess!!
  7. I still can't get it right "Darling Husband"!!
  8. Thanks Chris sorry for calling your dear husband a DW!!!!!

    having a little doubt

The reason I chose the band over bypass was that the surgery was Laparascopic and they wouldn't have to cut me open. Another reason was that with the band you are only suppose to lose 1 to 2 lbs per week and that is a slow pace I know but at least it will hopefully stay off and I would not have to pay to have my excess fat taken away. I am hoping that it will firm up as I lose. Sixty-one pounds in 4 months is great but really sounds too fast. But good for her. I have only been banded for a month and had my first fill yesterday. I have lost 17 lbs so far but most of that was pre op. My opinion and mine only is I am glad I chose the band over the bypass.
  10. Chris That sounds very painful. When you were describing your symptoms I thought you had gas. That would have been easier on you. Please do as the doctor says a chill for a bit. By the way since I am new what does DW stand for? Dim Witt!!
  11. Crispy I was talking to my sister today and I told her about the beer. She said that all I had to do is leave it out for awhile and drink it flat. I really can't see doing that. My dad and I used to be beer buddies and he past away last year so I lost my beer buddy. It should be much easier for me. Nice to know there are more beer drinkers out there.
  12. Wow, thanks to everybody who responded to my thread. It is great to know that I am not alone in London and there are a few of us either in London or from surrounding areas. I went for my first fill yesterday in Mississauga. They actually pulled out 4.4 cc which she was surprised that they had put that much in when they banded me. She only up it .6cc which I don't think is going to be my last because even today I am not really satisfied with what amount I am eating. I am really trying to stick to it. It is a whole new way of eating. I met with the nutritionist also yesterday and I was surprised on finding out that I am allowed three meals a day of 1 cup and 1 small snack. I should try and go 4 to 5 hours between meals without snacking. Should be fun. I was also told to forget post op which was eating every 1/2 hour. Everything is changing now because I am past post op. I also found out that carbonated beverages are a no for as long as the band is in me ( which is for life) and that includes beer. I know there is probably not allot of beer drinkers out there but I did enjoy the odd one. Apparently if you drink carbonated beverages your little part of you stomach will fill up with gas and it could cause a slippage. We don't want that. I guess I will be going back to Mississauga in two week to top my fill. Hopefully it won't take long to find my sweet spot!! Hope everyone is having a great day and if you are not that is okay also.

    Fill

I was wondering if anyone can actually feel their port. I can. It is about two inches above my belly button. It is so weird. I spoke to the clinic and was told that I am the second person who has said this. I am going for my first fill on Tuesday Oct. 2 and I was also wondering can you feel it and does it hurt or does it hurt if there is only a problem. Thanks
  14. :ranger:I was just wondering if there is any one in London that has been banded. It would be great to have someone close.

unbearable gas pain...what else can I do?

I found out about bad gas pains Thursday night when I ate antipasto which obviously was not good for me. I was woken up from a deep sleep to terrible pain in the stomach and abdominal area. I thought I was going to dye. I was all set to go the the emergency but then took gasX and imodeum and it seemed to settle enough to go back to sleep. When I woke up the next morning it was still there so I decided to go for a walk with the dog. That seemed to get things moving and I was fine after that. This just made me realize that I really have to watch now what I put in my mouth. I can't eat everything that I used to.
