  5. @@theantichick I understand being cautious about giving advice on how your plan looks. My plan is also different. Most people on the forum are new. I just keep that in mind when I talk with others in weight loss mode. My way may not appropriate for them. Many people have had their plans changed for many reasons. I leave that stuff up to medical professionals.

  8. @@Tootsietoes It seems the only answer your looking for is validation on your way to approached weight loss. You seem defensive. A bit overly sensitive about telling someone to follow their plan......I'm not sure why. Is following a plan too much for a Dr. to ask of his patients? The goal is healthy. Whatever that looks like for each of us. I'm not the plan police. We are all adults. Its tough to make good decisions for ourselves. NOT my job to make them for other people. If your happy with your outcome that's great. I'm also happy with mine.

    Exercise exercise

@@ladyteeq I started walking 30 minutes a day after surgery until I got to my required hour. I bumped up to 3 different types of cardio machines. Pushing the resistance up as I progressed. I will always have my skin issues. Honestly, its not as bad as I had imagined. Building muscle from weight lifting is a game changer. I'm now two and a half years out from surgery. I do cardio for the first hour. Weight lifting my second hour 5 days a week.

  12. @@Tootsietoes Are we all adult's here? I have no Idea why I'm even responding.. The goal healthy. Whatever that may look like for each of us. You asked..."Does it bother you that someone could choose to get the surgery based on the idea that portion control, not food, is what makes you fat?" Never bothered me. I'm not here to rescue anyone. Good luck to a person that ate all their meals as cheese cake. Restriction alone is not a one size fits all. Your food choice will effect your outcome. I see - People looking for permission to go back to old behaviors. As long as they are happy..... that's fine. You are happy with your outcome right? Others are not so happy with weight gain. Some come here to get back on track. I would never tell them to eat what ever they want and all will be fine. That's just me... The majority here are new. I will direct them to proven best practices.(Their program) Not a one size fits all. Off the top of my head. You will see a program changes with people with health issues, complications, above average fitness levels, mobility issues and maintenance ... I'm sure their are more reasons.

@@LittleBill I always hope people will take the opportunity given with surgery and run with it. I'm sure its hard to see your friend decline in health again. Restaurants are used to serving large portions. It's funny when a waiter or waitress cant believe your full on a small amount of food. Some try to push something to drink with your meal. Attitude is lesson I had to learn in the process of surgery. Making your health and fitness your life style is hard. It can be done. It will be day by day. Its not immediate. Its dedication and consistency working for your goals. Thanks for posting this Bill.

    Daily Sugar/Carb Intake

@@mylastchance21 My two cents..For what ever its worth. I have learned much. Some by trial and error. For the majority, following your dieticians will give you the best practice for success. Some may need to adjust their diet due to what ever situation comes up. I would never try to trouble shoot my and make up my own diet plan. (that's just me) I choose to trust the professionals. My diet has changed and evolved since my surgery in June 2014. I am a type one diabetic and a distance runner. I followed my bariatric dietician for my weight loss. Low carb. Focus was getting hitting my Protein, Water and calorie macros. I used a sports medicine dietician to fuel my body for a half marathon. Trying to hit my 1800+ calories and maros with a bariatric stomach was a challenge. I carb loaded three days before a long run. The hard part is going back to eating my bariatric plan when I'm not training or running. Carbs still trigger me into hunger and cravings. I have to detox off of them all over again. I have diabetic dietician. I am a very well controlled type one. I rarely get high blood sugar. I now have more low blood sugars. I have to manage it by ingesting sugar to bring it back up.
