Always seeing myself the same fat girl

10 weeks~!!! congratulations on your weight loss! You deserve the credit for your hard work and you definitely deserve the compliments. I agree with the above posts. It will take time for your mind to catch up to see your physical appearance. Comments and compliments on your weight loss are going to continue until your in maintenance mode. The new attention can be a bit unnerving. Try giving them comment or compliment a scale (1) appropriate - acknowledge the NSV. Smile and say thank you. (2) Hilarious - Enjoy the laughter (Please post any funny things that people say to you) (3) Inappropriate - (a) Creepy (B) People intended it to be a compliment but, It comes out as an insult (c) a straight up insult. - Smile say have a nice day and walk away ( In your head say kiss my ***) Never waste your energy on negative people. Surround yourself with the supportive people that have your back in life.
  3. Hi Dale, At three years our, what has been your biggest challenge? Has your weight loss been slow as you get further out from surgery?
  4. It's that time of year again. New year's resolutions! Take a pill and lose weight. If you're not satisfied we will send your money back. Buy this workout machine. I'm sure talk shows will be on the bandwagon with this year's fad diets. All the bad information on weight loss drives me crazy.

    Hello Vet's

Hello Vet's. I'm reflecting on my Birthday. I'm curious of where you are at in life now. How often do you think about being a surgery Patient? I identify as a health nut/gym rat. This has become my passion. Just a normal way of life. I still check in on Bariatric pal. But I spend the majority of my time in Body Space. I'm not motivated by weight loss anymore. I've moved on to other fitness and nutrition goals. I've lost friends and a close family member due to my weight loss. I have gained new friends. They have the same interest in health. I feel I'm continuing to be my best self. I don't want to settle in feeling my old fart age. I don't feel my age today. OK Vet's. What is life for you like at this point? 6. Here I am 2017. I'm putting my foot in my mouth. I posted a while back that I don't feel like a bariatric patient. That feeling is GONE! I'm looking for others in maintenance that would like to drop some weight. For me, maintenance weight loss is very slow. Take's me serious work. I'm looking for support and accountability. I'm reevaluating where I'm at. I weight lifted and bulked up over the winter. I'm up to 141. I'm back on my bariatric low carb basics again. Detoxing off carbs now.

BariatricPal Policy Reminders – Everyone Please Read!

@Natalie Stein @@Alex Brecher I have been here long enough to know you're a great advocate for the bariatric community. Thankful that your site was incredibly helpful from 2014 and 2015. In July of 2016, My hope was your moderators would have made a difference in the interactions on the forum. It was getting out of control then...It has hit a new low now. Please be advised I am withdrawing my permission to post my bariatric story on BariatricPal's newsletter. Sent December 26, 2016 - 4:07 PM Hello! I help Alex, BariatricPal’s founder, out with the newsletters on this board. We would love to feature you in the Member Spotlight section of the Newsletter. Is that okay? If it is, can you please answer a few of the following questions? We want to be able to let all of our readers get to know the real you! What made you decide to get the surgery? What kind of surgery did you get? What are some of the differences in your life since getting the surgery? What are some of the challenges you faced? What great moments have you had? How does the discussion forum fit into your life? What do you use it for? Do you have any tips for members who are struggling with their weight loss? Again, you don’t have to answer all of them, and you’re free to add more information. We want to hear all about you. Thanks! Natalie

  10. @@stacyrg2 Love that you also became a Bariathlete. Many of us around here. Congrats on the half marathon in May! I'm finding little help for calories etc from my surgeon's office on bariathletes. I get good information from others on here. I used a sports medicine dietician. But, I still have to dial things in for my tiny tummy. It's been trial and error figuring what works for my body. Have you had the same experience?
  11. Thanks. The idaho famous potatoe. I completed the half marathon last year. I just hope to complete the full this year. Cutting the weight is painfully slow for me. But will be worth saving my knees Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App
  12. @@OKCPirate Always good to see you. Five pounds in a week fantastic! I'm glad to get support as I start shedding my winter weight. I read the posts and information you left. Thanks! It's so true. Each of our maintenance and weight loss looks different due to many factors. My diet changes in three phases each year. Distance running phase: I have a marathon in May. My calories get set to 2000+ high protein goals. Three days before each long run, I increase carbs. After May, I have to detox from carbs and calories. Get back to bariatric basics Bulking phase: High protein and Higher fats I'm an endomorph. I have to keep my carbs low. Cut phase: I'm much like you... My calorie set point to lose weight is 1500. Protein goals are high.I expend a lot of energy working out. I'm on the high end of my weight 141..It's time to cut. .

    Phentermine AFTER surgery?!

SERIOUSLY . No one has forced anyone to agree with an opinion. It was their personal take on the drug. I've never been anywhere online where people have the same thoughts and opinions. I'm not sure why you thought this site would be any different than any other online community. I value other people's input.. Even when I don't agree. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App

What surgery are you pick and why

@@candacer I went to a bariatric seminar at the hospital in my area. It covered the different types of surgeries. The positive and negatives. Risks and statistics. If you haven't been to one check into it. I had the sleeve. I went by my surgeons recommendation. I'm a type one diabetic. I have low blood sugars. I didn't want dumping syndrome when I need to get my blood sugars back up.

You might find a better tutorial if you google:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qecOTWgaYRM&t=50s (note) Your goals/macro nutrients will need to be set for your bariatric diet. Check with your dietician for your macro goals example : Goals are set at 1100 calories 50% protein 15% carbohydrates - 35% fats
